Welcome back to yet another edition of the Drive & Dish NBA podcast, hosted by Justin Cousart (@JustinContheAir) & Kevin Rafuse (@rafusetolose). Before hoops, the guys finally have the great chicken sandwich debate, now that Justin has tried them all. Does Chick Fil’A reign supreme, or does Popeye’s pull off the upset? Plus Justin says Wendy’s should be in the mix while Kevin disagrees. Kevin also discusses how an Instagram caption about the Popeye’s sandwich cause a lot more activity than he expected.
The duo then discusses the big news of the week; Carmelo Anthony’s return to the NBA. They debate what Melo can bring to Portland, and if Melo can make the most of his return. Kevin explains why he thinks this is Melo’s last chance, and why Portland felt the need to make a move now. Justin also wonders if Portland might finally have to break up the duo of Dame & CJ. The guys then get into some Who’s Ballin Who’s Fallin, with highlights including Bill Russell finally accepting his Hall of Fame ring, and low lights include the slumping San Antonio Spurs.
Then the guys get into the streaming wars, as Disney+ was released this week. Kevin & Justin compare some NBA squads to Disney movies. Things get a little dark when the Warriors & the Knicks come up (long live David Fizdale), where it’s looking pretty sunny for Houston & the Lakers. Last, but not least, the show ends with some Hot Takes from Reddit, including Fred Vanvleet’s continued excellence following the birth of his son this year, and his stance on load management.
