In this episode we talked about how to prepare for the fantasy football playoffs, and go over our waiver wire picks ups for week 14. We opened up the podcast talking about the two touchdown performance from Peyton Barber on Sunday and how it was an annoying situation for Ronald Jones owners. Although it was an unlucky turn of events for Ronald Jones owners, our main conclusion is that these things happen from time to time and it shouldn’t deter anyone from starting Jones in week 14.
Heading into week 14 and the beginning of the fantasy football playoffs, we discussed some factors that fantasy owners should consider when setting themselves up for success. Some of the things we mentioned were: weather conditions, player injuries, game start times, having contingency plans in place and more. Above all else, the main point we try and drive home is to pay attention to all the minor details and don’t leave any stone unturned. We also stress ther importance for treating each playoff matching like a daily fantasy league because in essence it is a win or go home game and should be treated as such. This mindset should also drive some of the pick ups you make on the waiver wire because you are not picking up a player to stash for future weeks, all that matters is picking up a player with a favorable matchup that can help you for week 14.
Surprisingly, there are a decent amount of potential waiver pick ups this week that can make an immediate impact for fantasy owners. For this weeks waiver wire pick ups, we had: Russell Gage (Atl), Cole Beasley (Buf), Benny Snell (Pit), James Washington (Pit), Jack Doyle (Ind), Tyler Higbee (LA), and Raheem Mostert (SF). Some players we advised not to pick up were: Anthony Miller (Chi), Patrick Laird (Mia), Allen Lazard (GB), and Peyton Barber (TB).
