The Lakers, the Clippers, the entire NBA and North America at large are carrying into a second week of coronavirus quarantine, and so is Hollywood Hoops. Players and teams can no longer access practice facilities and gyms, but Eric Pincus and Josh Martin still have the equipment they need to keep the show rolling. Make sure to keep up with our socials for the latest episodes.
In this week’s episode, Eric shares his early thoughts on how the league might look to wrap up its regular season and, perhaps, stage its playoffs, whenever the current crisis subsides. Could the entire league congregate for fan-free games in one location, rather than hop from city to city? And could that location be Las Vegas, with its hoops facilities and wide supply of empty hotel rooms?
Then, Eric and Josh take a closer look at the collective bargaining agreement to consider what canceled games (as opposed to merely postponed ones) could mean for the players’ paychecks. Would the players end up having to pay the owners?? What other issues might arise from these unprecedented situations we find ourselves in?
Finally, our co-hosts dig into what would transpire if the NBA playoffs started with the standings as is. Would Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies be able to steal a game or two from LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers? Are Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Clippers equipped to crush Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks? Could the Houston Rockets, behind the dynamic duo of James Harden and Russell Westbrook, be the most dangerous dark horse in the Western Conference?
Tune in for all that and more in the latest edition of #HollywoodHoops! Make sure to catch up on the latest episodes as well!
