Missouri Sports Betting
Sports betting is not legal in Missouri.
Previous efforts have failed, though more may be on the horizon. Here are the most recent updates regarding sports betting in the state:
Missouri Sports Betting Updates
- Sept. 8, 2023: Four sports betting petitions (2024-135, 2024-136, 2024-137, and 2024-138) were filed with the Missouri Secretary of State to put sports betting on the November 2024 general election ballot.
- June 6, 2023: Hoskins announces he is running for Secretary of State, which opens the door for someone to take his place in the Senate.
- May 12, 2023: The Missouri legislative session ended without passing sports betting.
- April 4, 2023: Sen. Denny Hoskins led an eight-hour filibuster against the two bills, which do not include VLTs. Hoskins refuses to allow any sports betting bill pass which does not include VLTs.
- January 5, 2023: Rep. Dan Houx and Sen. Tony Leutkemeyer introduce HB556 and its companion bill, SB30.
When Will Missouri Launch Online Sports Betting?
This question has no concrete answer at the moment. The 2023 legislative session ended and sports betting did not pass. Whenever it does get legalized, it could be six months to over a year before betting launches in Missouri. Legalization is just the first step.
Following the legalization process, Missouri then has to move to the regulatory and licensing process. While some states have done this much better than others, we have seen cases like Tennessee where it took over a year and several delays to get sports betting launched.
However, four sports betting petitions were submitted on Sept. 8 to the Missouri Secretary of State that seek to legalize retail and online sports betting by putting the decision in the hands of the voters. If approved, there could potentially be an option to legalize sports betting on the November 2024 general election ballot in Missouri. The latest that the state would roll out sports betting is Dec. 31, 2025, per the petitions.

DraftKings
DraftKings Sportsbook is a new addition to the multiple platforms DraftKings now offers. It started off as mainly a daily sports operator but has now ventured into the world of online sports betting. DraftKings has risen through the ranks and has become one of the best and most reliable sportsbooks in all of America. DraftKings also offers an online casino platform, if that were to be legalized in the future.
When it comes to the sportsbook, DraftKings simply does everything well. The number of wagers offered and the prices on those wagers are all top-notch. Creating your account, depositing, and managing your bets are all made extremely easy on the browser site and mobile application. DraftKings’ experience making online platforms shines with the sportsbook, and you never run into technical problems on the app.
DraftKings has a number of ongoing promotions including boosted odds, insured bets, and daily free pools that you can play. This is something that simply adds more value to your betting experience. DraftKings also offers account linking from the sportsbook to the daily fantasy sports platform. A huge bonus for those of you interested in both daily fantasy and sports betting.
DraftKings’ traditional welcome bonus is a $1,000 deposit match bonus. This match bonus will match 20% of your entire first deposit, up to $1,000 in bonus money. This means that a $5,000 first-time deposit will lead to the max $1,000 of bonus cash up for grabs. In several states, you can also get a $50 bonus bet on your first deposit when you use Lineups’ exclusive links.
FanDuel
FanDuel Sportsbook is another top tier option for Missouri. FanDuel is another sportsbook that actually originated in the daily fantasy game. However, it seems that this experience is the reason that FanDuel quickly became one of America’s top sportsbooks following the legalization of sports betting in 2018.
FanDuel Sportsbook is another mobile app and browser site that it is hard to find fault with. The design is clean and easy to use. Not to mention that the site and app are responsive and update in an extremely smooth and timely manner. There are plenty of betting options, including same game parlays, something few other sportsbooks offer.
The existing-user promotions are plentiful on FanDuel. Oftentimes equalling the number of other sites without even taking into account the dozens of parlay insurance offers in the promo section. Another thing that really shows FanDuel at its best is the ease of depositing and withdrawing on the mobile app or site.
In terms of a new-user bonus, FanDuel has always offered its $1,000 no sweat bet for when you sign up. This means that your first bet placed is completely on the house up to that $1,000 mark. If you lose the bet, then you will be credited with FanDuel site credit. This is a great way to try out FanDuel Sportsbook and can be a quick way to build your bankroll.
BetMGM
BetMGM is an amazing online sportsbook as well as an online casino that is brought to you by MGM Resorts International. BetMGM is one sportsbook that is starting to become rather widely known by the general public despite sports betting being relatively new for America. This is because of the several professional partnerships that BetMGM has created with sports teams and leagues.
BetMGM’s app and browser site are not as organized as some of the others, but it is still easy to browse once familiar with it. BetMGM’s best feature is unarguably the betting. MGM is one of the most experienced gambling companies in all of America, and it shows with BetMGM. The bet slip is fantastic, and the available wagers, including in-game betting, seem endless.
There are a number of ongoing promotions such as boosted odds bets and a user rewards system. However, one of the best parts of BetMGM has to be M life rewards. A rewards program that expands from BetMGM to MGM Resorts and includes in-person rewards such as VIP treatment and room comps.
New users who sign up in legal states are eligible for a $1,000 first bet offer. This first bet offer can really help you get your bankroll going and off to a good start as BetMGM will refund you in site credit if your bet does not hit.
Caesars Sportsbook
Caesars is a world-renowned gaming company that first launched its online casino in 2013 and has recently dived into the world of online sports betting. In April 2021, Caesars acquired William Hill, a British-based oddsmaker, with the goal of expanding its sports betting offerings. William Hill is a multi-national sportsbook with great reach and it should help Caesars develop a great platform in sports betting.
Caesars is another sportsbook that will not blow you away with the design but instead offers elite odds pricing as well as betting options in terms of sports available and types of wagers provided. Due to William Hill’s European roots, Caesars now has fantastic international betting selections on top of the traditional American offers.
When it comes to bonuses, Caesars offers new users at $1,250 first bet on Caesars. The $1,250 first bet allows individuals to make an initial wager up-to this amount and have it refunded in site credit if it doesn’t hit. In addition, Caesars offers some great promotions for existing users.
PointsBet
One of the most exciting names in sports betting has to be PointsBet. The Australian bookmaker who is partnered with NBC Sports, is offering up something new to the bookmaking scene. On top of traditional odds, PointsBet offers a form of wagering called PointsBetting, a high-risk, high-reward form of betting that you can only get with the new bookmaker.
PointsBet has done a superb job creating an incredibly well designed mobile app and browser site. Both from an aesthetics standpoint and a technical aspect. The app is so easy to use, and the dark design makes it easy on the eyes when browsing for bets. PointsBet does not sacrifice any quality with the normal odds offered by also offering its PointsBetting system.
If you are looking for value, PointsBet makes sure to provide it. Not only do you get a daily boost to boost one of your bet slips for the day, but there are a ton of other offers on the sportsbook available for all users. Then, you also have a great rewards program that is straightforward and based on the amount you bet.
PointsBet’s new-user bonus with Lineups.com is traditionally worth $2,000. This comes in the form of a $500 bet for fixed odds, which are the traditional ones you will find on most sites and a $1,500 PointsBet that is unique to PointsBet Sportsbook.

Collegiate and Professional Teams in Missouri
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the oldest and most successful NFL franchises. The team will be one of the top targets for all sportsbooks to partner with when Missouri gets closer to legalization. Being the partner of such a well respected NFL team that is also set to have a superstar QB, Patrick Mahomes, for 10-years is invaluable.
The Chiefs play out of the AFC West. The Denver Broncos and the Las Vegas Raiders, two AFC West Divisional rivals, are both partners with BetMGM. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs join them and also make BetMGM a future partner in sports betting.
While the Chiefs have expressed their support for the bill and are set to receive a license to operate sports books upon legalization, a new development may change their involvement. The Chiefs are exploring options to move their stadium out of the state in which point lawmakers are not keen on awarding the franchise with a license. Now, their license will be contingent on the team staying in Missouri.
Kansas City Royals
The Kansas City Royals are one of two MLB franchises residing in Missouri. The Royals’ last World Series title was in 2015 after failing to win it in 2014. Again, the franchise will be a lucrative partner for any sportsbook entering the Missouri market as they look to build up a reputation.
The Royals play in the American League’s Central Divison and compete with teams such as the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians, and Detroit Tigers. The only team that currently has a sports betting partner out of those is the Tigers with PointsBet.
St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals are another MLB team, one that plays in the National League’s Central Divison. This historic franchise is one of the most celebrated teams in the history of baseball, tracing its roots to the 19th century.
The Cardinals are one of only two remaining professional sports teams in St. Louis and therefore carry a ton of weight in the state. The team is one of the most popular in all of baseball, let alone the State of Missouri.
St. Louis Blues
The NHL is well represented with the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues. The team has gained tons of popularity in recent years. Hockey teams are bringing in strong partnerships similar to the other major sporting leagues in the United States. The Red Wings inked a deal with PointsBet in Michigan, for example.
The Blues will likely have its choice of partner when sports betting becomes legal. The team could even explore multiple partnerships.
Missouri Tigers
The Missouri Tigers are the only FBS team located in Missouri. Something to track in Missouri is whether collegiate sports betting is allowed, specifically in-state sports betting. Several states have banned sports wagering on college teams located in the same state. If this becomes the case in Missouri, then the Tigers will be off the table when it comes to wagering.
However, if the Missouri Tigers are available to be bet on, then I expect them to pull in a good portion of the wagers on NCAA Football in the state, as the team is widely popular and the biggest school in the area.
Missouri General Information
Missouri is trending in the direction of being a massive sports betting market. It will be up to the lawmakers to figure out how to bring sports betting to the state, and if it does, there should be some massive amounts of cash to be made by bettors, sportsbooks, and the State.

Daily Fantasy Sports in Missouri
Missouri is one of the many states that has legalized daily fantasy sports. This means that it is not only available but completely legal under state law to play on sites like FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo Daily Fantasy.
You can find competitions for all kinds of sports, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and even European Soccer, for all three of these major daily fantasy platforms.
Luckily for Missouri, you will be able to link your daily fantasy and sportsbook accounts if FanDuel and/or DraftKings offer their sportsbooks in the state. However, it will depend on the regulations on whether you will be able to share winnings between the two accounts in a shared wallet.
Online Casino Options in Missouri
As of right now, there are no plans for online casinos to be legalized in the state. Any platform that is offering online casino games in Missouri is not legalized or licensed by the State of Missouri. However, this is, hopefully, something that will be added to one of the bills that are attempting legalization.
Since there are several legal in-person casinos in the state, there is some slight precedence there for the legalization of online casinos in the state. However, the in-person casinos may be lobbying hard against this idea as it could affect their bottom line.

In Missouri, the legal betting age is 21; therefore, if sports betting is legalized, you will need to be 21 years of age or older to place a wager. This will apply to online or physical sportsbooks in the state. The 21 year age mark is standard across the United States.
Can I play casino games online in Missouri?

However, this can always change, and it can change fast depending on how sports betting does in the State Assembly.
What casinos have a sportsbook in Missouri?
No casinos have sportsbooks in Missouri. Depending on which proposal is accepted, it seems that there may be competition to receive a sportsbook. Is online sports betting legal in the United States?
Yes, sports betting was allowed due to a court ruling by the United States Supreme Court. This ruling overturned a federal ban on sports wagering due to the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992. The act was deemed unconstitutional, and now states can decide to legalized sports gambling.
