Each team plays 84 regular-season games this season, up from 82 in 2025-26, for a league-wide total of 1,344 regular-season games. The two added games per team are a home and a road matchup against divisional opponents. Here are the dates that shape the NHL calendar.

Games are played nearly every day of the season. The only dates with no regular-season games, outside the holiday and All-Star breaks, are Nov. 20 and Nov. 26. Nearly two dozen Monday matinees also double as primetime games for European viewers. Where to Watch NHL Games Today
National U.S. coverage is shared by ESPN and TNT Sports. ESPN holds 100 exclusive games across ESPN, ABC, ESPN+, Disney+, and Hulu, and ABC Hockey Saturday returns this season. TNT Sports carries 72 games, including the Heritage Classic and the Winter Classic, holds U.S. rights to the 2027 Stanley Cup Final, and also streams on HBO Max. NHL Network and local broadcasters carry additional games. In Canada, Sportsnet carries most national games, and Prime Video streams the Wednesday-night slate. Almost. Games are scheduled on nearly every date from Sept. 29 to April 10. The league has no regular-season games on Nov. 20, Nov. 26, Dec. 23 to 25, or during the All-Star break from Feb. 4 to 7, when the All-Star Game is played instead.
