Barstool Sportsbook Launched in Pennsylvania

Friday is the launch of the Barstool Sportsbook mobile betting app in Pennsylvania. The highly anticipated launch has finally arrived as Barstool Sports, and Penn National have high expectations for the rollout. Barstool Sports becomes the first media empire to submerse themselves into sports betting entirely.

“As the only gaming operator with a fully integrated sports media and entertainment partner, our customers will have the opportunity to engage with Dave, Big Cat, and other Barstool fan favorites on our app – including betting with them, or fading their picks,” said Penn National CEO Jay Snowden in an interview last week. “Our customers will also have an opportunity to interact with Barstool personalities live at one of our many casinos’ retail Barstool Sportsbooks in the coming months.”

Barstool Sportsbook will be advantageous to the younger sports betting audience as the popular media company Barstool Sports will integrate content into the mobile betting app and have personalities tied to it.

How Barstool Sports Got Here

Barstool Sports has created its niche in the media landscape, talking about topics from pop culture, sports, and of course, sports betting. They have grown into a huge brand over the last 14 years with Chernin Group by a stake in the company in 2016.

Then, Penn National came along earlier this year and bought another stake. In late January of this year, the gaming company Penn National bought a 36 percent interest in Barstool worth $163 million.

This helped accelerate Barstool Sports into the sports betting industry. Although they were already covering sports betting on their media platforms, Penn National has opened up the door for a sports betting app.

Barstool already had its College Football Pick ‘Em podcast for college football and Barstool Sports Advisors for NFL Sunday’s. They get to take those concepts and put them into the new Barstool Sportsbook mobile betting app.

Since the summer, Barstool and Penn have both been in works in launching the highly anticipated app. Barstool Sportsbook will take over all Penn National sports betting locations with the personalities tied to Barstool.

Launch day has finally arrived with Pennsylvania becoming the first state to see Barstool Sportsbook. It is only a matter of time before the new sportsbook will be across the U.S.

Last week, Barstool and Penn created a soft launch of the Barstool Sportsbook app. A limited amount of users were allowed to use the new app and as a trial to see what they liked and didn’t like.

During this time, it was discovered the Barstool Sportsbook would have unique features that other competitors cannot offer.

Some things that they will be offering are “Barstool Personality Picks”. Customers will be able to follow along with what Barstool personalities are taking, and they can tail or fade them if they want. They will also have a special 6-leg parlay that customers can adjust the bets and wagers.

Barstool Sportsbook will also offer traditional bets like spreads, totals, parlays, teasers, futures, and more. They will have daily odds boosts, and the ability to buy and sell points much easier than other sportsbooks.

Overall, the sports betting app should be a huge hit starting in Pennsylvania. DraftKings and FanDuel have dominated the market since launch, and Barstool could come in and become a key player in the Keystone State.
