Odds to win 2020 NBA Title
It is never too early to look ahead to next season, especially for fans of eliminated teams. The SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas seems to agree as they updated their 2020 NBA Championship odds after the NBA Draft Lottery.
After landing the #1 pick in the NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans saw the biggest odds jump. All Odds are listed below.
2020 NBA Championship Odds
Knicks Favored to Land Durant
Jeff Sherman oversees the NBA odds at the SuperBook and he believes that the Knicks are the favorite to get Durant this summer, and thus has created New York’s title odds accordingly. Sherman noted that if the Knicks are unable to land Durant or another high-profile star, their odds would be more in the range of 300-1.
Since Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors in 2016, they have started the past three season as the favorite to win the NBA title. If Golden State can’t retain Durant this offseason, the Warriors odds to win the title next season will certainly see a drop.
Kevin Durant isn’t the only player who can make a huge odds impact this offseason. Two other players who are still currently competing in the NBA Playoffs along with Durant could certainly increase a teams championship odds for next season.
Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard and Boston’s Kyrie Irving are the two top pending free agents next season not named Durant. As if Kawhi’s stock wasn’t high enough entering the playoffs, the Raptors’ star is certainly increasing his value this postseason, averaging 32.3 points per game in the playoffs.
Another big-name that is expected to be on the move this offseason is New Orleans Pelicans’ star, Anthony Davis. Davis has wanted out of New Orleans for some time now, and despite owner Gayle Benson’s efforts to keep Davis in New Orleans, it looks like he will be on his way out.
Knicks in Position to Make a Free Agency Splash
The Knicks are in a great position entering the offseason. They didn’t get close to landing the number one overall pick in the upcoming draft, but they do have the most salary-cap space of any team in the league (nearly $73 million). That amount of cap space gives the Knicks the option of landing two max players this offseason.
Now would be the best time to start making your bets based on who you think could land these players and potentially win next year’s championship. Once the draft ends and players like Durant, Irving, Leonard, and Davis find new homes (or stay put), those teams odds will jump overnight.
