FanDuel has already opened its first physical sportsbook at The Meadowlands, and that occurred on July 14, 2018. It has more planned too, and DraftKings still doesn’t have a physical presence.

The Types of Bets You Can Place Using FanDuel’s Sportsbook
You can make any of the common game bets using the FanDuel Sportsbook. Here is a list and short description of these types of bets.
Point Spread – This is probably the most widely-known type of sports bet. Oddsmakers will create a number of points they feel the winning team will win by. This margin of victory is called the point spread.
When you see have ½-point, this means there cannot be a push. When the oddsmakers nail the final point spread exactly, it’s referred to as a push. Bookmakers love to see a push. Most all betting formats treat a push as a lost bet.
The idea betting the point spread is more than just picking the winner or loser. If, for instance, you take a football team +7 and they lose by only a field goal, your bet will be a winner. Consequently, using the same seven-point spread, everyone who took the favorite would have a losing ticket.
Moneyline – Betting the moneyline is more similar to just picking the winner or loser of the game. However, there are odds that make a big difference. As an example, a favorite in any given game may have a moneyline number of -120.
This means you need to put up the equivalent of $120 bet to win back a corresponding amount of $100. The opposite holds true for the underdog. If the underdog is listed at +120, you’ll net $120 for an equivalent bet amount of $100.
Parlays – If you really want to get creative and up your potential payoff, you can make what are called parlay bets. These are cards where you take the point spread or moneyline bets from multiple games and incorporate them into a parlay ticket.
If you choose all the bets on your parlay correctly, you’ll win a corresponding payout according to how many games comprise that card. The more games you wager on, the higher your payout percentage.
Teasers – When bettors see a game with a point spread they think is way off, they can push that point spread one way or the other. This is called a teaser. A great way to jack up the payout percentages is to find a team getting points and bet them straight up to win. The amount of the payout will correspond to how much of a change you make in the point spread.
Propositions – These are called prop bets for short. Prop bets are wagers on events happening within each game itself. Super Bowl fans may appreciate the idea of prop bets. Before and during the big game, you can bet on things from how long the National Anthem will be, to who will win the coin toss.
There are prop bets on all kinds of individual player statistics as well. The more important the game, the wider the array of prop bets. When you utilize mobile betting, prop bets can be posted as trends and momentum in the game change. These are referred to as live in-play bets.
Live In-Play Bets – As the scoreboard changes, in-game odds do too. There is a truly engaging thrill from betting on various odds as the game unfolds. These types of live in-play bets are both exciting and a great way for astute bettors to put their game knowledge to good use.
Futures – Futures bets are when you post a wager far in advance of the actual game or sporting event. This is an excellent way to get in on early odds, which you think will change over the course of time. Futures are also an excellent way to play both sides of the point spread in a particular game.
Game odds can change, sometimes dramatically. Oddsmakers recall what the insiders refer to as “Black Sunday”. Bettors, who placed future bets on Pittsburgh, then took Dallas as the point spread swung to +4.5 for the Cowboys, took Vegas for a financial ride.
These are the different sports and types of bets you can now make using the FanDuel Sportsbook in New Jersey. There is a physical location now in D’Iberville, Mississippi. Sports betting fans in other states across the country should have patience. Your opportunity to wager on sports might be right around the corner.
FanDuel Sportsbook Website Design
When you scan the FanDuel Sportsbook, you’ll immediately notice the direct similarities to the layout for most casino sportsbooks. FanDuel’s recent acquisition by European-based Sportsbook BetFair, has brought on board a team of knowledgeable developers. Here is a breakdown of the sports and types of bets you make using the new FanDuel Sportsbook.
FanDuel has historically been top of class when it comes to usability and design. They don’t disappoint with their latest online offering. Your betting slip is a constant on the right side of the screen keeping track of all your bets. On the left side you’ll see Live games called out as well as a list of sports and Other Links. Other Links include a Betting Guide, Terms of Conditions and helpful Gambling Resource links. The colors and text contrast follows their brand design and the responsiveness on any device is superb. You can find the various types of bets along the top of the body area with a More dropdown that provides in game betting durations. Overall, it’s a nice site that operates intuitively.
FanDuel Sportsbook Mobile App
One great feature of the new FanDuel Sportsbook is the mobile app. It not only allows you to place, change, and follow your bets from any mobile device, but you can also track your winnings. The app uses a clean white background. This makes individual links and statistics easier to read.
FanDuel app designers made certain that the screen wasn’t cluttered. By efficiently using the space, you are able to focus on the information that matters most. You’ll be able to easily scan game lines, bet prices, the moneyline and game totals.
To help make using the mobile app effortless and less frustrating, there is a bottom pop out menu so you can instantly land back on the homepage. Once you pick a wager, a betting slip will automatically appear. There is a quick tab to add bets, or go back to the previous page to make changes.
You can estimate your winnings by inputting a bet. The system will immediately display your potential cash winnings based on the odds. FanDuel rightfully expected a large percentage of their bettors would want to both bet and follow their wagers with a mobile app. The new FanDuel Sportsbook mobile app does not disappoint.
FanDuel Live is the in-play option available to bettors we mentioned previously. There is almost as diverse a number of intriguing bets you can make live as there are in the pregame board. The standard pregame lines are more thorough and exact. However, the in-play betting option on FanDuel Live adds an extra way to enjoy your betting experience. It’s a thrill for many bettors to grab ever-changing odds right in the middle of a game they’re watching. Since game flow changes in an instant, this can be a way for you to hit a big winner as well.
How to Deposit Money into Your FanDuel Account
FanDuel offers multiple options to add to your account balance. You can deposit money using any of the following options. Keep in mind, whichever option you choose, the account name must match the name on your FanDuel registration.
Credit and Debit Cards – FanDuel accepts both MasterCard and Visa. Make certain that the bank your card is attached to will accept and process transactions from online wagering sites. Some banks will not process these types of transactions. The best advice is to check your bank’s policies before trying to make a deposit using a credit or debit card. If you have issues, use the prepaid card option.
FanDuel Prepaid Card – You can apply for this type of payment method on FanDuel’s parent company BetFair. Depositing money from this card is similar to using your credit card or debit card.
PayPal Account – Using a PayPal account that is in your name is another way to deposit money into your FanDuel account. Again, the names must be the same.
ACH (echeck) – An echeck is another acceptable way to make a FanDuel deposit. This is an electronic check generated by your bank. Same account name stipulations apply to echecks. It usually takes between three and six business days for echecks to post to your FanDuel account.
Online Bank Transfer – Online bank transfers are similar to echecks, but without an electronic paper trail for your records. Online transfers are usually faster than echecks as well.
PayNearMe – The final option to deposit money into your FanDuel account is through PayNearMe. If you have a bank account or credit card, using those options is usually more efficient.
However, many players need to deposit cash into their account. When that’s the case, you need to locate a PayNearMe location near you, and then make a deposit designating your FanDuel account as the end receiver of the funds.
How to Make a Withdrawal from Your FanDuel Account
Before you can use any of the following methods of withdrawal, you need to provide FanDuel with the following information. It never hurts to send a W-9 either. W-9s are required for larger cash prize awards.

Once DraftKings launched, the promotional opportunities became even more aggressive as FanDuel positioned itself to win. In the sportsbook world, FanDuel will have a lot of competition, but it will also have backing from Paddy Power, so we can expect a lot more of the same.

What are the FanDuel Daily Odds Boosts?
If you’re already enjoying the action on FanDuel’s Sportsbook, keep an eye on the promotions for what FanDuel calls their Daily Odds Boost. What will happen is that for any particular event, FanDuel will bump the odds on a given outcome. For instance, during the Major League Baseball playoffs, there were a couple Daily Odds Boosts. FanDuel improved the winning odds for the eventual World Series Champion Boston Red Sox on two different occasions.
Both times astute bettors, who were ready to take advantage of the Daily Odds Boost, improved their winning cash out. To take advantage of the Daily Odds Boost, all you need to do is keep a watchful eye on promotions, and bet using the improved odds.
When you’re depositing your money for something, the first thing you want to know is that your funds and information are safe. Right from the point you open an account, FanDuel takes steps to guarantee that you are really you. While some of the steps may seem redundant, FanDuel values your privacy and online security. And besides, it’s also the law. When it comes to help and support for other issues, FanDuel has a few choices. If, for instance, you’re having trouble getting your free bet, easily jump on Live Chat or call (877) 689-0662 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
On Support tickets, turnover is less than 24 hours, often sooner. FanDuel live chat option is perfect for quick account related questions. A chat rep can help you navigate through some steps in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem yourself. In addition, if the issue isn’t fixed, a support ticket will automatically be generated. If you need to speak to someone on the phone, give a call and if written correspondence is needed, you can mail Fanduel at:

The Laws and Lawsuits That Made It Possible
Although gambling is illegal in most states in the U.S., New Jersey is not among them, and residents and visitors have long been able to gamble at Atlantic City. In 2011, New Jersey passed a bill to legalize online gambling in the state. In 2012, then-Governor Chris Christie signed legislation to legalize sports betting, which was approved by voter referendum. Those laws were met with some resistance—which was successful at times—but in 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the state and eliminated any remaining hurdles preventing online gambling and sports betting in general.
The History of FanDuel
FanDuel was founded in 2009 in New York riding the great success of fantasy sports in the U.S. It distinguished itself by offering daily as opposed to season-long fantasy sports, which allowed participants’ interests to be renewed with each new day. It enjoyed great success so fast that it gave rise to a competitor in 2012: DraftKings. DFS certainly skirted gray lines established by the UIGEA, but the industry generally avoided legislation by not offering states where the services were likely to be deemed unlawful. FanDuel and DraftKings were challenged in New York and settled, but in the same year that occurred, 2016, the state passed legislation to legalize DFS.
The Rivalry with DraftKings
As soon as DraftKings emerged, the two companies became fierce rivals. It’s estimated that both companies combine for more than $500 million in advertising annually. The brands share many of the same customers, and the promotions are often so good, that clients tend not to be loyal but rather spend their money with the company currently letting them do the most with their bankrolls. Eventually, FanDuel and DraftKings decided to merge, but that merger would have accounted for 90 percent of the DFS market, and so the FTC stepped in and took legal action to block it.
Interestingly, DraftKings Sportsbook was the first to go live in New Jersey thanks to a partnership with Resorts Atlantic City and technical assistance from Malta-based Kambi Group. FanDuel, however, was recently purchased the massive and Ireland-based Paddy Power.
The Future of FanDuel Online Betting
The FanDuel story moving forward won’t be limited to its sportsbook. DFS will still be prominent, and you can expect some cross-promotion in that regard. The Paddy Power-FanDuel partnership is also going to position the brand to deliver an online casino. The sportsbook is the focus now, but FanDuel has plans for an online racebook, a full-featured online casino and an online poker room. Paddy Power also has merged with Betfair, and that provides a lot of other resources to FanDuel as well.

FanDuel Promotions Assessment
We’re always positive on a sportsbook offering free money on sign up. FanDuel doesn’t disappoint with a $500 free bet. Risk Free are a great way to acquire and interact with new users. We really like the other promotions like CFB Parlay Insurance & NBA Parlay Insurance. We hope to see these promotiosn carried out as new states come online. We’d also like to see some additional user interaction. Giving users missions to complete on the site, treasure hunt type activities can increase engagement and loyalty. Loyalty and reward programs are beneficial for both parties. Overall, on the technology side, FanDuel nailed it. The user interface and design is in a league of it’s own.
