Top Prediction Market Trades: Best World Cup Trades for Tuesday, June 23

Portugal to Win By More Than 1.5 Goals vs. Uzbekistan (0.60¢ at Kalshi)

Portugal was extremely disappointing in their opener, drawing 1-1 against Congo DR. It was a game where they put up only 0.7 expected goals.

They need a win vs. Uzbekistan, a team that will look to park the bus. Portugal will dominate possession and generate a ton of scoring chances here. Coming off a game where they let everyone down, look for Portugal to quiet the critics a bit with a convincing victory.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Portugal win this one 2-0 or 3-0. There’s a reason why they were a trendy pick to win the World Cup coming into the tournament. Don’t let one poor result in the first game push you off that. Just look at how Spain rebounded from a 0-0 draw vs. Cabo Verde with a 4-0 win vs. Saudi Arabia. Expect something similar here.

England/Ghana Both Teams to Score: No (0.60¢ at Kalshi)

England had an impressive 4-2 win in their opener vs. a strong Croatia side. However, they uncharacteristically conceded two goals in that match. This comes after a UEFA qualifying campaign where they didn’t allow a single goal.

Bet on manager Thomas Tuchel to prioritize a more organized approach in this match. Look for the Three Lions to clean things up at the back and start to look like they did in qualifying.

This is the perfect match to do so, as Ghana was underwhelming in their 1-0 win over Panama. You can make a legit argument that they were outplayed in that game. Look for England to keep a clean sheet with a 2-0 win here.

Croatia to Win vs. Panama (0.64¢ at Kalshi)

Croatia lost 4-2 to England in the opener, but scoring two goals on a team that didn’t allow any goals during qualifying is quite impressive. They’re in a must-win spot to keep their tournament hopes alive here.

I’m giving the benefit of the doubt on a bounce-back for Croatia here, since they’ve proven to be able to rise to the occasion and elevate their game in the World Cup.

While Panama performed well against Ghana, it’s likely to be a different story vs. Croatia. This is an expensive trade, but one worth making given the talent disparity here.

Colombia/Congo DR Over 2.5 Goals Scored: No (0.59¢ at Kalshi)

Colombia took care of business with a 3-1 win over Uzbekistan in their first match, while Congo DR kept it close with a 1-1 draw against Portugal.

I like going with Under 2.5 goals in this match because you have to be impressed with how well Congo defended. They held a terrific Portuguese attack to only 0.7 expected goals.

Before the tournament, I had Congo DR advancing from the group. I’m going to keep riding with that here. Look for them to slow down Colombia in what should be a close match. It wouldn’t surprise me to see draw here. With that in mind, even at an expensive price, I’ll take Under 2.5 goals in this spot.

Not in a Legal Sports Betting State? Consider Prediction Markets

If traditional sports betting isn’t available in your state, prediction markets provide an alternative way to engage with sporting events. Rather than wagering against a sportsbook at fixed odds, users buy and sell contracts tied to specific outcomes. Contract prices move based on market activity and reflect the perceived likelihood of each result. Many platforms also let traders close positions before an event ends, making it possible to lock in gains or limit losses.

The variety of available contracts has expanded significantly over the past few years. Services such as Kalshi, Polymarket, and Fanatics offer markets on individual matchups, championship winners, player awards, and other sports-related outcomes, in addition to contracts covering elections, economic data, and a wide range of current events.

Prediction markets differ from traditional sportsbooks because they operate under separate regulatory structures and use peer-to-peer exchanges instead of bookmaker-based wagering. Platform availability depends on both the operator and local regulations, meaning access is not the same everywhere. Before creating an account or placing a trade, review the platform’s eligibility rules and terms of service to ensure it is permitted where you live.
