Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 College Football Preview, Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions
Even though Kalen DeBoer is 20-8 in his two years with Alabama, it still seems like he has underperformed, failing to win the SEC or reach the semi finals in the College Football Playoffs. After a severely underwhelming offseason, expect the Crimson Tide to harshly regress in 2026, drastically warming up DeBoer’s hot seat who is questionably fresh off of signing an extension.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 College Football National Championship Odds
National Title Odds:
After a successful stint with Washington, Kalen DeBoer took his talents to Alabama to help keep the program afloat after Nick Saban’s retirement. Even with all the tools in the world to keep recruiting five star prospects and highly touted transfers, DeBoer has failed in his efforts of bringing in high quality production to compete with the upper echelon, nearly missing out on the playoffs in both years if the committee did not shockingly put them in over Notre Dame.
Heading into 2026-27, expect negative regression to rear its ugly head over the Crimson Tide after another underwhelming offseason. Especially when having to integrate a whole new offense into his system, bringing back just 35% of their roster on that side of the ball. Staying ahead of the sticks was already an issue for the Crimson Tide, finishing last season ranked 56th in Off Success Rate.
More shocking yet, Alabama made little to no effort in revamping their ground game, an area of the offense that severely struggled in 2025-26, ranking outside the top-90 in Rush Success Rate, PPA, and in Explosiveness. With their running backs giving them little to no support with their production, opposing defenses can stretch out their coverage without any fear of getting beat in the middle, further lessening the width of Keelon Russell’s passing lanes.
On the other side of the ball, the Crimson Tide do bring back a bulk of their defense from last year, a unit who fared much better by climbing into the top-25 in Def Success Rate and in Havoc. Still, with their offense in flux, the Crimson Tide will be forced to play in highly volatile contests, drastically reducing their chances of winning.
Per preseason projections, Alabama is favored in just six of their games, including a near coin flip against Vanderbilt later on in the year. With far too many roadblocks in their grueling schedule, expect Alabama to struggle to string together their wins and be held out of the playoffs, making them a pass at their current odds to win the National Championship.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 SEC Championship Odds
SEC Title Odds:
Digging deeper into their conference schedule, it’s an unforgiving one, kicking things off with a highly anticipated matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs in week six. With continuity on Georgia’s side, as well as outclassing Alabama on both sides of the ball, expect the Bulldogs to overwhelm the Crimson Tide and give them an early loss.
After a war with Georgia, Alabama then hits the road to battle it out against Tennessee as a short underdog before coming back home to host Texas A&M who will also be the betting favorite in their tilt. While a bye week may seem favorable before their matchup against LSU, the Tigers will also be fresh off a bye, negating their rest advantage.
Factor in two coin flips against Vanderbilt and Auburn to end their year and the Crimson Tide may be in for a very long year. At their current odds, pass on Alabama to win the SEC and look to fade them on a weekly basis if their offense is unable to give them the production they need to be a well rounded contender.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 Win Total Odds
Win Total Odds:
Oddsmakers are in agreement with Alabama being vulnerable to a skid this season, listing their win total at 8.5. Not only do the Crimson Tide have to go through a gauntlet of a conference schedule, but they also face off against Florida State who will be fresh off a bye. At 8.5, place a wager on Alabama to go under their win total and place a smaller wager on them to miss the playoffs as well.

Alabama Crimson Tide 2026 Heisman Contenders, Odds
Keelon Russell, QB:
Austin Mack, QB:
Even though no quarterback has been named the starter as of writing, expectations are Keelon Russell be under center heading into week one. Oddsmakers also believe Russell will be anointed the starter, listing him near the top of the oddsboard to win the Heisman. In his brief appearance last season, Russell was efficient, completing 73.3% of his passes while averaging 9.5 Yards per Throw.
Rivaling Russell for the job is Austin Mack, Ty Simpson’s backup quarterback last year who received far more playing time than his teammate. While Mack was more accurate than Russell, he was not nearly as explosive with his throws, averaging just 7.1 Yards per Throw. With neither quarterback named the starter, as well as having to weave through a tough schedule, pass on both players at their current odds to win the Heisman.
Moving down the oddsboard, Ryan Williams can be found at +20000, a star wide receiver who is projected to be selected in the first round of the 2027 NFL Draft. Even at his lofty odds, it’s tough to justify how the Crimson Tide wideout will dethrone either quarterback with their offense expected to struggle, making Williams a pass as well to win the award.
