PowerPlay Alberta Review in July 2026
PowerPlay Alberta officially launched on July 13, 2026, as part of the province’s regulated online sports betting market.
PowerPlay is among the operators registered with Alberta and brings its Canadian sportsbook to the province with a user-friendly platform, competitive betting markets, and strong customer support. Below, I’ll review PowerPlay Alberta in more detail, including the signup process, banking methods, customer support, and the betting markets available.
Latest Updates on PowerPlay Alberta Launch
PowerPlay Alberta is one of the operators licensed to operate in Alberta’s regulated online gambling market. The sportsbook operates under its parent company, Trillium Ventures Limited, which is headquartered in Sliema, Malta.
I could not find any information about the professional teams that PowerPlay Alberta partners with in the province. The only team they’re partnered with is the Ottawa Black Bears, which is a professional lacrosse team.
In addition to Alberta, PowerPlay also operates a regulated online sportsbook in Ontario.
Can You Use PowerPlay Alberta Legally in Alberta?
Yes. PowerPlay is now a legal and regulated sportsbook in Alberta following the launch of the province’s online gambling market on July 13, 2026.
The sportsbook operates within Alberta’s regulated framework under the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) and the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC). Eligible Alberta residents who are at least 18 years old can register, deposit funds, and place wagers while physically located in the province.
How to Join PowerPlay Alberta
To sign up at any online Alberta sportsbook, you’ll have to provide personal information such as your name, address, date of birth, email, create a password, your occupation, and more.
This information is asked at all sportsbooks in Alberta.
From there, additional verification may be required, such as your phone number, email, or personal details.
Verifying Your PowerPlay Alberta Account in Alberta
If you’re asked to verify your phone number, email, and/or personal details, you didn’t do anything wrong; this happens routinely during online sportsbook account creation in Alberta.
With your phone, this is commonly done by sending a code to your phone, which you provide. This is similar for email, or you may be asked to click a link to confirm.
Finally, personal details. This can happen for a few reasons, such as an additional layer of security before making a withdrawal or during account creation.
Often, this can happen if you provide details that don’t match the third-party programs the sportsbook uses to identify individuals. In this case, simply upload a picture of your government-issued ID, and this should process automatically. There may be times when a manual review is necessary, but that’s fairly rare.
PowerPlay Alberta Mobile Experience
While you can play at PowerPlay Alberta perfectly fine on desktop, you can also take it on the go with its Android and iOS mobile apps. It’s accessible via your mobile web browser, too, but the mobile app seems to have a more stable connection, and I like the push notifications that can be sent to my phone for updates on games I’ve wagered on or new exciting promos.
Using PowerPlay Alberta on iPhone
The PowerPlay Alberta mobile app can be downloaded directly from the Apple App Store and added to your iPhone or iPad. The download size is quite small at 57.6 MB.
I found that the user interface design was also identical to the desktop version, which made going from desktop to mobile that much easier, and there wasn’t any time spent learning how to use PowerPlay Alberta on mobile.
Using PowerPlay Alberta on Android
There’s also an Android mobile app which can be downloaded directly from the Google Play Store. I found it by searching “PowerPlay.com Official App.”
Like the iOS version, the user interface design is identical, making it almost a 1:1 “clone” of the desktop.

- Baseball
- Soccer
- Tennis
- MMA
- Table Tennis
- Aussie Rules
- Badminton
- Boxing
- Cricket
- Cycling
- Futsal
- Golf
- Handball
- Motorsports
- Motorbikes
- Rugby League
- Rugby Union
- Sailing
- Snooker

Within each sport, you’ll also find several leagues across the globe. For example, under football, there’s the NFL, college football, and the CFL, meaning the Elks and Stampeders can be wagered on.
Then, under hockey, there’s the NHL, which is where the hometown Flames and Oilers play.
Edmonton Oilers Betting Odds
The top betting markets available for the Oilers include the moneyline, puck line, props, totals, and futures, which you can also add to parlays.
In hockey, instead of a point spread, there’s a puck line, which is typically 1.5 goals. It’s almost always this number simply due to the low-scoring nature of hockey.
As for futures, this could include a variety of events, such as winning the Stanley Cup, the conference or division title, or Connor McDavid hoisting the Hart Memorial Trophy, for which he finished second this past season despite the Oilers being bounced in the first round of the NHL playoffs.
Calgary Flames Betting Odds
There aren’t any markets available for the Oilers that aren’t available to the Flames. While the odds may vary, you run into a situation where a certain market will be available for one team and not the other unless one makes the playoffs or is eliminated from playoff contention.
CFL Betting In Alberta
Besides the puck line, all of the same betting markets are available in the CFL and for the Stampeders and Elks as they are in hockey. Instead of the puck line, there’s a point spread, which can vary depending on the strengths and weaknesses of each team.
For example, one week the Elks could be -2.5, and the next week they’re +9.5.
As for futures markets, these include picking a team to win the Stanley Cup or to win the Most Outstanding Player Award.
How Betting Works at PowerPlay Alberta
After you’ve created your account and deposited funds into it, head over to the menu of sports and browse the available games and markets.
Below I’ll define these markets and bet types:
- Moneyline: Pick a winner. For example, if the Elks are -210, they’re favoured, and you’d need to wager $210 to win $100.
- Point Spread: A number designed to make a game even. If the Elks are -6.5, not only do they need to win, but their final points scored, from a betting point of view, will be that number -6.5. So, if they won the game 20-14, their “betting score” would be 13.5, and thus, even though they won the game, they would lose with a point spread bet.
- Totals: Betting “over” or “under” on a point total line. If the Oilers and Flames are playing, the line is 6.5 goals, and the final score is 4-2 (6 goals), the “under” wins.
- Props: The most popular props are player props. These could include betting on McDavid to score a goal (+150) or on the over/under for goals saved or allowed by Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf.
- Futures: Betting on events that happen later, such as a championship or an individual award.
Parlay Betting at PowerPlay Alberta
Parlays are a popular betting market, but they do come with risk. This bet type allows you to add multiple games to the bet slip, but each time you add a game, that game must win for the parlay to succeed. So, in exchange for more risk, the odds for parlays become exponentially longer the more games you add.
You can also craft a Same Game Parlay, which lets you add markets from the same game and group them. So, if you think the Oilers will win and,d in doing so, McDavid will score a goal, you can parlay them together.
In-Game Betting at PowerPlay Alberta
Live in-game betting is also available at PowerPlay Alberta. In fact, there’s a tab toward the top of the page for “Bet Live” where you can see all of the games actively in progress.
These odds and markets will change as the game progresses.
When you click on a game that’s actively in progress at PowerPlay Alberta, you’ll see a link to a live tracker where you can see live updates for what’s happening in the game and examine stats and play-by-play to help make an informed wager.
Are PowerPlay Alberta Odds Competitive in Alberta?
After examining the odds at PowerPlay Alberta and comparing them with those on other platforms in the province, I didn’t find anything overly alarming. Alberta’s regulated market features numerous licensed sportsbooks, so it’s still worth shopping around to compare odds before placing a wager.

PowerPlay is a solid option for Alberta bettors who value a straightforward sportsbook, strong customer support, and a broad range of betting markets. While it doesn’t offer quite as many unique features as some larger competitors, it delivers a reliable betting experience with competitive odds and an easy-to-use platform.
