North Carolina Sports Betting History

North Carolina Sports Betting Timeline

March 27, 2024: The North Carolina Education Lottery Committee shared projected revenue and winnings from the first week of legal sports betting in the state. Some $198.1 million was wagered with $141 million paid out in winnings. North Carolina would gather $42.7 million in taxes.

March 11, 2024: FanDuel Sportsbook goes live in North Carolina.

Jan. 23, 2024: North Carolina announces an official launch date of March 11 for online sportsbooks, with pre-registration expected to open up on March 1.

December 2023: FanDuel gets official approval to enter North Carolina.

November 2023: The North Carolina Commission says NC sportsbook apps won’t be available on Jan. 8, the state’s initial earliest launch date. Leaders wanted online sports betting live in time for the NFL Playoffs, but it appears the launch will be in February or March of 2024.
