Indiana Hoosiers 2026 College Football Preview, Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions
In just the second year of his career at Indiana, head coach Curt Cignetti was able to go perfect in 2025-26, sweeping the schedule enroute to a National Championship. An impressive feat when factoring in how he had to integrate Fernando Mendoza into his system, turning the former Cal quarterback into a Heisman winner and first overall pick in the NFL Draft. With Josh Hoover taking over under center, plenty of question marks loom over the reigning champions.

Indiana Hoosiers 2026 College Football National Championship Odds
National Title Odds:
After a successful two year stint with James Madison, Curt Cignetti took his talents to Indiana and instantly turned the Hoosiers into a powerhouse. Where Cignetti goes, success follows him, boasting a 46-6 career record with a National Championship trophy sitting on his mantle.
Heading into year three, plenty of question marks loom over the Hoosiers, primarily on offense after Fernando Mendoza took his talents to the NFL. With Mendoza gone, Cignetti was quick to replace him, plucking Josh Hoover out of the transfer portal to help keep his offense competitive. A former TCU Horned Frog, Hoover has been serviceable, finishing his 2025 campaign with 3,472 yards and 29 touchdowns while completing 65.9% of his passes.
Even with regression looming, Hoover is projected to take a step forward with his production while under Cignetti’s system which is very quarterback friendly. With their offense masking Hoover’s potential slow start, the Hoosiers should suffer minimal hiccups to kick off their year. Their first three opponents also give them a great opportunity to iron out their kinks, battling it out against the likes of North Texas, Howard, and Western Kentucky.
While the Hoosiers have questions to answer on offense, their defense brings back plenty of familiar names at all three levels of the field, further reducing the amount of variance in their contests to help round back into championship contending form. Cignetti was also able to bring in more production at EDGE and CB, further elevating a defense who was already highly touted heading into the year.
Even though I fully expect Indiana to be in the mix, I am passing on their National Championship odds until we get some more data on how their offense fares under Hoover. Indiana will have plenty of tune up games leading up to their first true test, a highly anticipated matchup against Ohio State in the middle of October. Should Indiana thwart the Buckeyes in convincing fashion, then they will instantly become a buy depending how oddsmakers react to their win.

Indiana Hoosiers 2026 Big Ten Championship Odds
Big Ten Title Odds:
At first glance, the Hoosiers schedule is favorable, giving them half the season to find their footing before battling it out against Ohio State. Their favorable schedule to start the year alone puts them in a great position to ward off the rest of the field, giving them the edge they need to separate themselves from a top heavy Big Ten.
After their highly anticipated matchup against Ohio State, the Hoosiers hit the road to battle it out against Michigan who are poised to regress. Should the Hoosiers take care of business against the Wolverines, their schedule then flips back to being favorable, ending their year with contests against Minnesota, USC, Washington, and Purdue.
Road matchup against the Huskies aside, it’s tough to envision the Hoosiers stumbling down the stretch. Still, at around +250, I will pass on the Hoosiers at their short odds for now until their offense can prove they can contend when the quality of their opposing defenses ramp up.

Indiana Hoosiers 2026 Win Total Odds
Win Total Odds:
After going 12-0 last year, the Hoosiers are expected to remain near perfect this season with oddsmakers listing them at 10.5 juiced to the over. Outside of their matchup against Ohio State, Indiana is projected to be a favorite in their other 11 games. Still, a tricky schedule spot with Michigan right after Ohio State and a tough road matchup against Washington puts them in line with their current projections, making them a pass at 10.5.

Josh Hoover, QB:
Charlie Becker, WR:
Nick Marsh, WR:
Turbo Richard, RB:
All eyes are on Hoover with oddsmakers listing the newly acquired quarterback at +1200, grouping him with the likes of CJ Carr, Arch Manning, and Dante Moore. While Hoover was productive in his final year at TCU, he will need to elevate his level of play and keep the Hoosiers afloat if he wants to separate himself from the previously mentioned top tier quarterbacks.
Luckily for Hoover, Cignetti’s system will help chip away at his inefficiencies, cleaning up his weekly stat sheet which will help keep him in contention. His favorable schedule to start the year will also help immediately grab the media’s attention, especially if he is able to capitalize on the lower tier defenses and put up monster stats. At a lower number, we have time to gauge how Hoover performs in a new system, making him a pass for now.
Moving down the board, you can find Hoover’s supporting cast of Charlie Becker, Nick Marsh, and Turbo Richard all listed around +20000. In a crowded skill position room, it’s tough to see any of them receiving a high enough usage rate to dethrone Hoover, making them a pass at their lofty odds.
