Iowa Hawkeyes 2026 College Football Preview, Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

Iowa enters the 2026 college football season looking to build on another strong year under coach Kirk Ferentz after finishing 10-3 last season. The Hawkeyes once again leaned on elite defense and physical line play, but expectations are growing for the offense to take another step forward after showing improvement during the 2025 campaign.

One of the biggest storylines entering 2026 is whether Iowa can remain competitive near the top of the Big Ten while navigating another difficult conference schedule. The Hawkeyes return several important contributors on defense. They will once again rely heavily on controlling games in the trenches, but consistency on offense could ultimately determine whether Iowa can emerge as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.

In this preview, we’ll break down Iowa’s national championship odds, Big Ten title odds, Heisman Trophy candidates, and season win totals while evaluating whether the Hawkeyes can continue outperforming expectations during the 2026 season.

2026 College Football Betting Resources

Iowa Hawkeyes 2026 College Football National Championship Odds

National Title Odds:

The Iowa Hawkeyes are +12000 to win the National Championship.

While Iowa continues to be one of the more consistent programs in the Big Ten under Kirk Ferentz, it’s difficult to justify betting on the Hawkeyes to win it all at this price. The biggest issue is their ceiling on offense. Iowa has improved offensively compared to previous seasons, but competing for a national championship in today’s college football landscape typically requires elite quarterback play and explosive scoring ability. The Hawkeyes still rely heavily on defense, field position, and controlling the pace of games, which can work over the course of a regular season but becomes much harder against the nation’s top playoff teams.

There’s also the challenge of navigating the expanded Big Ten. Programs like the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Oregon Ducks, and the Penn State Nittany Lions simply possess more high-end talent and offensive firepower entering 2026.

Iowa should once again be competitive and capable of winning nine or 10 games, but asking the Hawkeyes to win multiple playoff games against elite competition feels unrealistic.

Bet: No

Iowa Hawkeyes 2026 Big Ten Championship Odds

Big Ten Title Odds:

Iowa is +6000 to win the Big Ten. Just like with the National Championship, there’s not enough value to justify betting on them here. With a stacked Big Ten, it’s better to target Iowa’s win total rather than longshot futures like this one. I just can’t see them finishing ahead of Ohio State to win this prop.

Iowa Hawkeyes 2026 Win Total Odds

Win Total Odds:

Iowa’s win total is currently at 7.5, slightly juiced to the over at -115.

The Hawkeyes have established one of the highest floors in college football under Kirk Ferentz, routinely outperforming preseason expectations. Despite regularly dealing with roster turnover and offensive limitations, Iowa has been consistent over the last decade.

Outside of the shortened 2020 campaign, the Hawkeyes have recorded at least eight wins in every season since 2015. During that stretch, Iowa also produced six seasons with nine or more victories and reached double-digit wins four separate times.

There are still some concerns entering 2026, particularly along the offensive line after losing three starters from last year’s Joe Moore Award-winning unit. However, the schedule remains manageable enough for Iowa to stay competitive within the Big Ten, especially against several opponents projected to finish lower in the conference standings.

Ride with the over at the modest -115 price.

Bet: Yes – Over

Iowa Hawkeyes 2026 Heisman Contenders, Odds

Iowa doesn’t have a viable candidate to win the Heisman. In fact, DraftKings is not offering a single Hawkeye in this market. If you want to bet on Iowa, focus on the over on their win total.
