Should You Bet on the Carolina Hurricanes to win the 2026 Stanley Cup?
Since the start of the regular season, the Carolina Hurricanes have built a strong case for being one of the best teams in the league, grading out very well on both sides of the ice. With the East looking weak on paper, expect the Hurricanes to blitz through the bracket and stamp their ticket to the Stanley Cup.
Carolina Hurricanes to Win Eastern Conference?
After leading the league in Expected Goals For in All Situations last year, the Carolina Hurricanes have been able to build on their momentum as they currently rank first this season. Their top two lines have played a major role in their success, fielding five players who average more than 0.30 Expected Goals per game.
Since moving Seth Jarvis into the same line as Sebastian Aho, the Hurricanes forward has been able to thrive, generating 0.44 Expected Goals per game. With Jarvis relentlessly pressuring the net, opposing back lines are forced to shade their coverage towards him, freeing up more space for his linemates to exploit which improves the quality of their Shots on Goal.
On the other end, the Hurricanes defense have been able to give them the production they need to be a well rounded contender, ranking in the top-10 in Expected Goals Against in All Situations and in 5-on-5 Play. With their back line consistently lessening the quality of opposing shot attempts, Brandon Bussi is able to wall them off at a high rate, averaging just 2.46 Goals Against per game.
Looking at their path to the Eastern Conference Championship, the Hurricanes are in a great position to make a run, avoiding the Tampa Bay Lightning until the finals. While a first round matchup against the Ottawa Senators may be a challenge with their offense starting to round into competitive form, they still lack the firepower that is needed to match the Hurricanes output, lowering their chances of winning.
After the Senators, the Hurricanes would play the winner of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, two clubs who play in highly volatile contests, making it hard for them to win a seven game series. By the time the Hurricanes match up with the Lightning, you can hedge your wager to help secure a profit. If the Lightning fail to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, then you can let your bet ride as the Hurricanes would possess clear advantages over any potential opponent.

Carolina Hurricanes to Win Stanley Cup?
Assuming the Hurricanes get past the Lightning, they will be just four wins away from hoisting the Stanley Cup. Standing in their way will most likely be the Colorado Avalanche who are currently listed as the betting favorite to win the title, fielding a lineup who matches the Hurricanes in Expected Goals For and in Expected Goals Against.
While Carolina is capable of matching Colorado’s production, wear and tear may hold the Hurricanes back with them possessing just one goalie who is capable of walling off the Avs relentless assault. When Bussi needs a night off, negative regression may rear its ugly head with Frederik Anderson in their net as the Hurricanes back up goalie is averaging a stunning 3.15 Goals Against per game and a .870 Save Percentage.
A potential massive issue for the Hurricanes who can ill-afford to give the Avs any sort of advantage with the margins as razor thin as possible. Especially if the Avs suffocating coverage brings the Hurricanes front line back down to reality, bringing in a high amount of variance into their contest which lowers their chances of winning.
If the bracket breaks in Carolina’s way and they face off against the Dallas Stars, Vegas Golden Knights, or Edmonton Oilers, then their odds of winning the Stanley Cup will skyrocket as each potential matchup will present at least one weakness the Hurricanes can exploit. Carolina will also be the favorite on the series moneyline, creating a hedge opportunity without having to sacrifice too much potential profits.
Place a wager on the Hurricanes to win the Stanley Cup now before their odds continue to plummet throughout the playoffs. Even if they face off against the Avs in the finals, there is still plenty of wiggle room to hedge your bet. If the Avs fail to make it out of the West, then your bet becomes even more valuable.

Any Carolina Hurricanes Players to Win Conn Smythe?
With Jarvis comfortably leading the team in Expected Goals, the spotlight will shine bright on the Hurricanes forward, drawing media attention to help propel his chances of winning the Conn Smythe. Especially with his supporting cast sitting comfortably behind him in Shots on Goal, making it hard for them to match his output.
One player who is capable of rivaling his teammate on the stat sheet is their center Sebastian Aho, the Hurricanes current leader in Points. While Aho is not nearly as aggressive as Jarvis in his efforts of scoring, he makes up for it with his facilitation by generating Assists at a very high rate.
Bussi is also another intriguing option to add to your portfolio by giving Carolina the protection they need in their net to help limit the amount of variance in their contests which makes it easier for them to pull away on the scoreboard. Bussi may also receive a heavier workload if Anderson is incapable of elevating his level of play, giving the Hurricanes starting goalie more opportunities to sway voters by stringing together his performances.
