Utah Utes 2026 College Football Preview, Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

Expectations remain high for Utah entering the 2026 college football season, even as the program undergoes significant roster turnover following last year’s 11-win campaign.

The Utes continue to sit near the top of the Big 12 futures market, but replacing an entire offensive line and several key defensive contributors will be one of the biggest storylines surrounding the team this offseason.

In this preview, we’ll break down Utah’s national championship odds, Big 12 title odds, Heisman Trophy candidates, and season win totals while evaluating whether the Utes can overcome expected growing pains in 2026.

Utah Utes 2026 College Football National Championship Odds

National Title Odds:

The Utah Utes are currently +10000 to win the National Championship. After winning 11 games last year, it may be tough to repeat that after significant offseason turnover on both sides of the ball. Replacing an entire offensive line and several defensive standouts will not be easy.

Still, Utah’s physical identity and strong defensive foundation should keep the Utes firmly in the conference title conversation. The biggest question surrounding the program is whether the offense can maintain last season’s efficiency after losing so much experience in the trenches. If Utah can quickly rebuild along the offensive line, the Utes have enough talent to compete for a College Football Playoff spot.

Big 12 Title Odds:

The Utah Utes currently sit around +600 to win the Big 12, placing them among the conference favorites entering the 2026 season.  If the Utes can avoid major offensive regression early in the season, they should remain firmly in the Big 12 title race.

One reason Utah could provide value at this number is the uncertainty surrounding several other conference contenders. The Texas Tech Red Raiders are the heavy favorites, but they’re dealing with question marks around quarterback Brendan Sorsby.

Another interesting sleeper in the market are the Houston Cougars at +1600. Houston quietly returns several important starters after a strong season last year, so they have a chance to contend in the Big 12.

Utah Utes 2026 Win Total Odds

Win Total Odds:

Utah’s win total is listed at 8.5, juiced to the over at -150. This team went 11-2 last season, so the market is already baking in the roster turnover at 8.5. Even at -150 odds, the over looks like the right play here.

A major reason is the program’s overall stability. Even with Morgan Scalley taking over as head coach, there should not be a dramatic culture shift given his long history within the program. Expectations inside the building remain the same: compete for a Big 12 title and push for a College Football Playoff berth.

There’s also reason to believe Utah’s offense could improve in key areas despite losing its entire offensive line. The Utes already averaged more than 40 points per game last season and possessed one of the nation’s best rushing attacks. Now, the focus shifts toward developing a more explosive passing game with quarterback Devon Dampier and several transfer additions at wide receiver.

The biggest concern is defensive regression after losing multiple contributors along the defensive line. However, Utah has consistently developed depth in the trenches over the years, and the schedule still provides a realistic path toward nine wins. In a wide-open Big 12, backing a program with Utah’s recent consistency looks like the right play here, especially with too low of a number at 8.5 wins.

Bet: Yes – Over

Utah Utes 2026 Heisman Contenders, Odds

Devon Dampier, QB:

Quarterback Devon Dampier has the shortest odds to win the Heisman among Utah players, currently listed at +7000 to win this award. Dampier was solid in his first season with the Utes last year, throwing for 24 touchdowns with only five interceptions.

However, he’ll have to make major strides to win this award as such a longshot. The Utes would have to evolve into a more explosive offense for this to happen, which feels unlikely.
