Finding Value in Valspar Championship Field

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile, then take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Valspar Championship, Course History, SG: APP, and recent form on the Florida swing are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a sleeper perspective, I will take a stance on the importance of long-iron approach play (Prox: 175+) and SG: Putting on courses with similar dormant, overseeded Bermuda as opportunities to buy low on players who may not otherwise fit consensus trends. I’m leaning on that stance to differentiate my player pool and find value for this week’s tournament.

Below, find my favorite golf DFS picks and longshots for the 2026 Valspar Championship. Stats were pulled across the last 36 rounds unless otherwise noted. Each player is listed with the best price in Valspar Championship odds.

Valspar Championship Course Specs

For a deeper dive into the course, read my Valspar Championship preview. Below are my favorite PLAYERS Championship sleeper picks.

Billy Horschel

The quintessential “Florida Man” on the PGA TOUR, Billy will rarely miss an event on the Florida Swing as long as he’s qualified. The Florida Gator has been chomping at the bit to get back on the course after failing to qualify for THE PLAYERS Championship for the first time since 2012.

Horschel was last seen at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he lived up to his reputation as a Bermuda specialist, ranking 2nd in the field in SG: Putting en route to a T13 finish. The Copperhead Course has been a haven for the best Bermuda putters on TOUR, as recent winners like Peter Malnati and Sam Burns have proven.

While his form has not been to his own standard over the last year, he’s fared well at this event in the past despite entering in shaky form. Horschel has finished T12 and T4 in his last two Valspar Championship appearances. The 8-time PGA TOUR winner should have the crowd on his side this week, motivated to play himself into the field at Augusta next month.

Lee Hodges

Winner of the 2023 3M Open, Hodges is accustomed to scoring on courses with ample water hazards threatening. The strength of his game lately has been his driving accuracy, which is highly encouraging, leading into a positional venue like the Copperhead Course with one of the steepest penalties for missing the fairway.

Hodges ranks top-25 in terms of Driving Accuracy, Paroximity 175+, Par-5 Scoring, and SG: Putting, setting the foundation for a very high floor this week. His form remains solid with two top-6 finishes over his last six starts. Those results came at the Sony Open and RSM Classic, each rewarding consistent approach play and Bermuda putting.

Those skillsets will be just as needed at the Valspar Championship this week, where he’ll look to improve on a solid T26 showing in his most recent appearance. Hodges won’t quite make it on my outright betting card, but he’ll be a staple value play for me in DFS and placement betting markets.

Zac Blair

Peter Malnati proved in 2024 that elite driving accuracy and putting can lead to a long-shot victory. Those are two qualities in Blair’s game that closely resemble Malnati’s, and he enters in far more encouraging form now than Malnati did in 2024.

Blair has made the cut in six consecutive PGA TOUR starts, with three top-10 finishes over that span. Those results came at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, RSM Classic, and, most recently, the Puerto Rico Open in his latest start. As one of the shortest drivers on the PGA TOUR, Blair remains competitive by capitalizing on his chances on less-than-driver positional courses, like what we’ll see this week. He also atones for his lack of distance with elite iron play. He ranks No. 1 in SG: APP and No. 5 in Prox: 175+ over the last 36 rounds.

Blair has shown a mixed bag of results at the Valspar Championship, but peaked with a T10 showing in 2023. That’s plenty of upside to feel optimistic about considering his price this far down the board.

Kevin Streelman

If you thought we couldn’t dig any further down the board than Zac Blair, you’d be wrong! Positional, less-than-driver courses that favor precision over power typically open the door for veteran longshots to plod their way around. Streelman has great memories at this event, winning in 2013 and contending once more just three appearances ago with a T7 in 2022.

The putter has held him back over the years at the Valspar Championship, but it seems 2026 may be a completely different story. He’s gained strokes putting in each of his last five starts, including a T8 finish in his most recent start at the Puerto Rico Open.

Streelman ranks in the top 30 in Comp Course History and often contends at TPC River Highlands, where he last won in 2014. The veteran remains accurate off the tee and offers legitimate upside for his price on this ideal course fit.

Best of luck if you bet or play these golf DFS picks for the 2026 Valspar Championship.
