2026 World Cup Group C Preview: Preview, Favorites & Qualification Scenarios
We can’t wait for Group C’s first game, a matchup between Brazil and Morocco. Brazil are odds-on favorites to win Group C, but Morocco are our choice to finish in top spot. A huge game to kick things off in the Group, it’s likely the winner of this one will end up topping the Group.
It’s almost certain, though, that both Morocco and Brazil will finish in the top two places and qualify for the Knockout Stages.
Haiti has qualified for just their second World Cup tournament, their first since 1974. Scotland is making their first appearance in the World Cup since 1998. They’ve never advanced from the Group Stage in their eight attempts so far.

Brazil
One of the most iconic countries in World Cup history, the 5-times Champions have reached at least the quarterfinal stage in every tournament since 1994. They’re also the only country to have qualified for every World Cup since its foundation in 1930.
They haven’t, though, won the competition since 2002, and the pressure is on the Brazilians to perform better than they did last time out, where they finished in overall 7th place after losing to Croatia on penalties in 2022. In addition, they lost six games in their CONMEBOL qualifying campaign and finished 10 points behind Argentina in the qualification standings.
Most sportsbooks have made Brazil the clear favorite to win Group C. We think it will be more difficult than that. Morocco, which we’ll come to shortly, is in superb form heading into this year’s World Cup. Brazil isn’t the team it used to be, and although the multi-title-winning Carlo Ancelotti is at the reins, finishing top of the Group will be a tougher task than the odds suggest.

Morocco
Morocco enjoyed a superb 2025, and that form has continued into this year. They broke the record for most consecutive international wins in 2025. They also have a World Cup pedigree, fresh off becoming the first African side to reach the World Cup semifinal in 2022. They also became the first African side to qualify for this year’s tournament, after a hugely successful CAF (Confederation of African Football) campaign.
They’re ranked 8th in the world, they won the African Cup of Nations (albeit in controversial circumstances), and they possess a squad full of talent. There has been a change of manager, with Mohamed Ouahbi replacing Walid Regragui in March, but we still believe Morocco will enjoy a hugely successful campaign.

Haiti
Qualifying after finishing top of Group C in the CONCACAF Third Round, this is only the second time Haiti has ever qualified for the World Cup, and the first since 1974. They’ve found themselves in an incredibly tough Group C. Morocco and Brazil should qualify in first and second place easily, and it’s hard to see where Haiti could pick up any points at all.
Haiti does, though, have a couple of dangerous key players to watch out for. They’re a much more resilient side now, along with possessing a decent attacking threat.

Scotland
Scotland have reached the World Cup for the first time since 1998 after finishing top of their UEFA Group C qualifying group. A huge achievement in itself, a dramatic 4-2 final game win over Denmark saw them over the line.
They’re in a tough group, though. While we can see Scotland beating Haiti, the games against Brazil and Morocco are unlikely to yield any points.

Group C Winner Prediction: Morocco
This may be a slightly controversial take, but we think Morocco will win Group C. It potentially boils down to the Group C opener, Brazil vs Morocco, over who will eventually claim top spot, but Morocco enters this tournament in fantastic form, and odds of +425 at DraftKings are incredibly tempting.

As you’ve read, we believe Morocco will top the Group, and Brazil will finish in second place. It could come down to how many goals each side scores against Haiti and Scotland, as well as the result of the Brazil v Morocco matchup to kick off Group C. However, Morocco has been highly underestimated for this year’s tournament, and I expect them to cause quite the stir.
