World Cup Group E Betting Guide: Odds, Schedule & Preview

Group E is complete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Germany winning the group and Ecuador finishing second to secure the two automatic qualification spots for the Round of 32. Côte d’Ivoire finished third, while Curaçao was eliminated after ending the group stage at the bottom of the standings. Germany entered the tournament as the clear favorite and lived up to expectations by topping the group.

2026 World Cup Group E Preview: Preview, Favorites & Qualification Scenarios

Germany entered Group E as the favorite to finish top, and they ultimately backed that up by winning the group. The race behind them was tighter, but Ecuador did enough to take second place and secure the other automatic Round of 32 spot.

Ivory Coast looked capable of pushing for qualification and was expected to be right in the mix, but they had to settle for third instead. Curaçao finished bottom, while Germany’s final group position showed a clear improvement after disappointing World Cup campaigns in recent editions.

Group E Team Profiles

Below, we’ve analysed each Group E team, assessing key players, form and their chances of progressing into the Knockout Stages.

Germany

Although they were beaten in their first UEFA Qualifying Group A match by Slovakia, Germany made light work of securing qualification to this year’s World Cup. They won their remaining five qualifying matches, scoring 16 goals and conceding just three in the process.

Germany is an iconic name in World Cup history, having won the competition on four occasions. However, after their last World Cup Final win in 2014, they’ve failed to reach the Knockout Stages. This year’s edition could be a competition of redemption for Julian Nagelsmann’s men.

Germany is the clear favorite to win Group E; we think they’ll do just that. They have a squad full of young and up-and-coming talent, as well as experienced heads.

  • Key Players: Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala

Curacao

Making their first ever appearance at a World Cup tournament, it will be interesting to see how Curacao fare. They stormed their way through qualification, finishing their campaign unbeaten, to become the smallest nation to ever qualify for a World Cup competition.

Whether they can get a point, or even a victory, remains to be seen. It’s a tough ask, though, with Germany, Ecuador and Ivory Coast all challenging for top spot.

  • Key Players: Leandro Bacuna, Juninho Bacuna

Ivory Coast

Another side that stormed their way through qualification, the Ivory Coast won eight of their 10 CAF qualifying games, scoring 25 goals in the process. Not only did they not lose a qualifying fixture, but they also didn’t concede a goal throughout the process.

This is only the fourth World Cup tournament the Ivory Coast has ever qualified for. They’ve never managed to reach the Knockout Stages of a World Cup. This year’s edition is a great opportunity to progress through the Group, though Germany and Ecuador will prove tough challenges.

Key Players: Amad Diallo, Nicolas Pepe

Ecuador

Ecuador finished second behind Argentina in the CONMEBOL qualification standings, despite having a three-point deduction. They lost just twice as they confirmed their place in this year’s World Cup, and Ecuador are expecting to perform better than they did in the 2022 edition, where they were knocked out in the Group Stage.

Ecuador doesn’t tend to score many, but they don’t concede many either. They’ll prove a tough challenge for their Group D opponents as they embark on their fifth World Cup campaign.

  • Key Players: Moises Caicedo, Enner Valencia

Group E Winner Prediction: Germany

The World Cup odds aren’t particularly attractive, but it’s hard to see past Germany finishing in top spot in Group E. Yes, Ivory Coast and Ecuador will prove a challenge, but this is a different Germany from the sides that failed to get out of the Group in the last two tournaments.

Group E Prop Bet: Ivory Coast Second Place Finish

While we’re predicting a battle between Ivory Coast and Ecuador to finish in second place, we’ve gone for the former to be Group E runner-up. Ivory Coast has a huge amount of talent going forward, and we think this will be the difference between the two.
