2026 American College Football Betting Preview, Odds & Best Bets

Arguably one of the more thrilling title races last year, Tulane was able to squeak past Navy and South Florida before defeating North Texas to capture the American Conference Championship. Should Tulane possess the best conference record again in 2026, then they will host whoever they are matched up against on December 5th, creating a thrilling atmosphere in their efforts of winning the conference title for the second year in a row.

2026 American Winner Odds

After winning the conference title last season, Tulane will be hard pressed in their efforts of making their return to the championship game, needing to integrate a whole new cast of skill players on offense. Even with their defense returning a majority of their production, it was still a unit who underwhelmed for the most part. With plenty of question marks lingering all over, pass on Tulane to win their second straight championship.

At the top of the oddsboard, Navy will look to build on last year’s success, bringing with them a majority of their starters that helped keep them in contention last year. While replacing skill players is normally damaging, the Midshipmen’s offense running through Braxton Woodson will help keep them afloat, making them worth a wager to win the American conference championship.

Joining Navy at the top of the oddsboard are UTSA, fielding an offense who ranked in the top-50 in Success Rate, Explosiveness, and in PPA. If the Roadrunners defense can brush aside regression while bringing in new players, then they are well equipped to make a run and compete for the American title at the end of the year.

Even though Memphis is also going through an overhaul, they are also worth monitoring as a potential contender, rivaling Navy in regard to talent on both sides of the ball. With their schedule far tougher, the Tigers will need to show they are able to integrate their new faces at key positions, making them a pass for now at their current odds.

Rounding out the top contenders is Army who will get the benefit of continuity at quarterback and across their offensive line, helping them avoid any early setbacks. Still, with their defense giving them little to no support, the Black Knights will play in very volatile games, making it difficult for them to string together enough wins.

Best Bet: Navy

2026 American Win Total Odds

Last year’s runner up, North Texas has been gutted out from top to bottom this offseason, indicating negative regression is looming large heading into 2026. With their offense taking a massive step back, their severely underwhelming defense will be unable to keep them competitive, making the under on the Mean Green’s win total worth a wager.

Speaking of underwhelming, Charlotte is projected to be in for a long year with their win total listed at 2.5 while both sides of the ball reside near the bottom of the board in overall net rating. Barring a stunning upset, expect the 49ers to fall behind on the scoreboard early and often throughout the regular season and be held under their win total.

Even though Navy is projected to finish around their win total, their over is worth a look if their new cast of skill players can elevate their offense. With Woodsen leading the offense, the Midshipmen should be able to avoid any sort of regression earlier in the year, giving them the edge they need to avoid an upset and rattle enough wins to clear the over of 8.5.

Best Bet: North Texas Under

2026 American Heisman Trophy Contenders, Odds

Even though no one in the American has produced a Heisman winner since its inception in 2013, a slew of players from Army and Navy have won the award, including Joe Bellino in 1960 who was the latest to do so. With the gap in talent as wide as ever, garnering enough media attention is as tough as it is, making it difficult for anyone in the conference to build a case for the award.

One player who does stand out is Braxton Woodsen, Navy’s starting quarterback who will be tasked with shouldering a heavier workload while his new cast of wideouts gets integrated into the offense. If Woodsen is able to stuff the stat sheet like his predecessor Blake Horvath, then the Midshipmen quarterback will be able to remain in contention for the award, making him worth a sprinkle if an oddsmaker lists him at a lofty total.

Best Bet: Pass

2026 American College Football Playoff Odds

After nearly securing a spot last year, Navy will look to contend again this season as one of the top contenders in the group of six. A favorable schedule and continuity at key positions will help them separate from the rest of the field, making them worth a small wager to secure the automatic qualifying spot for the G6.

Best Bet: Navy
