The PGA Tour’s Fall Series is set to tee off this Thursday, as we get set for the inaugural Biltmore Championship Asheville at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. A field of 135 players will converge, each eager to jockey for position and secure status for the upcoming 2027 PGA Tour season.

It remains to be seen how The Cliffs at Walnut Cove will stand up to professional competition, as the 2005 Jack Nicklaus design will host a PGA Tour event for the very first time this week. As a 7,249 yard par-71 played just over 2,000 feet at elevation, this projects to be a shorter, positional venue that cannot be overpowered with sheer distance. Accurate ball-strikers and proven birdie-makers are the prime targets as we look to exploit value in this week’s tournament.

In this article, we’ll look for diamonds in the rough ahead of the 2026 Biltmore Championship Asheville.

Biltmore Championship Asheville Odds

The Cliffs At Walnut Cove Course Introduction

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove is a short venue by PGA Tour standards, standing at 7,249 yards as a par-71. Unique to this par-71 setup, however, is the unusual mix of five par-3s and four par-5s to go along with nine par-4s. Distance is far from a necessity on this layout, which features four reachable par-5s and no par-4s beyond 460 yards.

Distance is especially mitigated when considering this course is played at elevation and is played positionally with its tight treelines neighboring the fairways.
Nicklaus designed this course in 2005, setting out to bring a championship-caliber course to the Asheville region and leaning into the scenic natural topography. Built in a valley beside the Pisgah National Forest, the course features a natural mix of farmland and native mountain woodlands.

Sitting just over 2,100 feet above sea level, this is a true mountain golf setup that will give a slight uptick in distance when played at elevation. The mountain scenery also sets the stage for natural amphitheater viewing and creates interesting approaches into raised greens complexes.

Biltmore Championship Asheville Golf DFS Picks & Longshot Bets

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Biltmore Championship Asheville, Recent Form, SG: APP, and Birdies or Better Gained are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a golf DFS picks perspective, I will take a stance primarily on the importance of Prox: 200+, Comp Course History, and Par 3 Scoring. As a par-71 with five long par-3s and four par-5s, there should be a steady dosage of long-iron approaches in store at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. And with many of the players in this field having not teed it up since the Wyndham Championship over 6 weeks ago, this is an interesting opportunity to look beyond recent form in favor of long-term performance on relevant comp courses.

Below, find my favorite value PGA golf fantasy picks and longshots for the 2026 Biltmore Championship Asheville. Stats pulled across the Last 36 Rounds unless otherwise noted. Their odds of winning the event are also shown.

Ben Kohles

Ben Kohles did everything but win in his closing stretch to the PGA Tour regular season. Over his final eight starts, he finished top-30 in each, with three top-15s over that span. This late surge from Kohles has been a credit to getting a rhythm with a more consistent playing schedule on the PGA Tour, as he spent most of 2026 bouncing between here and the Korn Ferry Tour. Ending the year at 17th in the Korn Ferry Tour standings, he’s secured himself full PGA Tour status next year, and can play this Fall Series with a bit more freedom now.

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove looks to be an ideal fit for Kohles’ game, trading th importance of distance for accuracy on this short, positional venue. Approach play will be crucial in Asheville this week, and few have proven to be better than Kohles in that category, ranking 3rd in SG: APP. Kohles also ranks 3rd overall in SG: TOT over his last 36 rounds, and is 6th in my model this week, making him an appealing value for fantasy formats and placement markets.

Emiliano Grillo

It looked as though Grillo may have had an inside track towards a Presidents Cup captain’s selection until a stronger closing stretch from Nico Echavarria and Christiaan Bezuidenhout bumped him out. He may come to Asheville with a little something extra to prove to Geoff Ogilvy after his snub, as Grillo closed his 2026 regular season in very strong form. He finished T31-or-better in five of his last six starts, including a T7 at the 3M Open.

The 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge champion has sustained a long career by thriving on positional venues that emphasize his strengths of driving accuracy and elite approach play. That is the formula needed to score at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove this week, and his performance on comp courses is very encouraging. He ranks 4th in Comp Course History with recent top-15 finishes at the Valspar Championship, John Deere Classic, Charles Schwab Challenge and the RBC Canadian Open over the last two years. Grillo ranks 9th overall in my model this week and projects as my favorite value on the board in Asheville.

Chris Kirk

The veteran plodder has gone overlooked in this weaker Fall Series field. A six-time PGA Tour winner who is just two starts removed from a T8 finish at the Rocket Classic, Kirk’s combination of form, fit, and experience are hard to pass up at this price. Never the longest hitter on Tour, Kirk has always managed to separate on shorter courses that place a premium on accuracy ball striking.

While a poor putter has held him back this season, the rest of Kirk’s game looks as sharp as ever. He ranks top-10 in SG: T2G, SG: APP, and SG: Ball Striking over the last 36 rounds. It’s been six weeks since we last saw Kirk tee it up at the Wyndham Championship, and we can assume that fixing the putter has been on the top of the list of game improvement for Kirk throughout this mini off-season. If he’s managed to make any strides with his putter, there’s no question his tee-to-green form is good enough to contend on this positional course set up.

Zac Blair

By all accounts, looking into The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, distance should not matter whatsoever. This is a course played at over 2,000 feet of elevation where shorter hitters like Blair will benefit from extra carry distance, and its tight tree lines should place a greater emphasis on positioning off the tee over sheer power.

That should be a welcome sight for a player like Blair, who has an excellent track record of hanging around with the best players in the world when distance is not a prerequisite. He finished the PGA Tour regular season on a high note with three top-15 finishes over his last five starts, including a T9 on what I believe to be the top overall comp course, TPC Deere Run. Blair has been excellent on approach all year, ranking 7th in the category over the last 36 rounds. Also ranking top-10 in Par 3 Scoring, Prox: 200+, and Driving Accuracy, Blair enters this week in good form and is an excellent profile fit for the task at hand in Asheville.
