2026 MAC College Football Betting Preview, Odds & Best Bets
After winning the MAC Conference Championship last year, Western Michigan is projected to win it again, sitting at the top of the oddsboard to secure their second straight title. Potentially meeting them at Ford Field on December 5th is Miami-OH who rivals them in regard to their listed odds, a rematch of last year’s finals.
2026 MAC Winner Odds
Fresh off of a conference championship, Western Michigan is now the team to beat, sitting at the top of the oddsboard to win it again this season. Unfortunately for the Broncos, negative regression looms large after their defense was gutted out in the offseason, bringing in a high amount of negative variance into their contests which lowers their chances of winning.
Potentially thwarting WMU are the Miami-OH Redhawks, last year’s runner up who quietly graded out better than WMU on both sides of the field. With continuity in the trenches and a productive addition at running back giving them some much needed versatility, Miami-OH is in a great position to make another run and win the MAC conference championship.
Toledo on the other hand gets the daunting task of integrating new faces at multiple key positions, potentially leading to a slow start if they are unable to find their footing. Luckily for the Rockets, they get the benefit of weaving through a favorable schedule, giving them enough time to iron out the kinks to keep their conference championship hopes alive.
Moving down the oddsboard, Ohio fills the gaps between the contenders and longshots, another contender who will need to quickly find their identity after losing a bulk of their production in the offseason. With projections expecting the Bobcats to win just four conference games, pass on Ohio to win the MAC at their current odds.
Hovering in the top half of the oddsboard are the Central Michigan Chippewas who are poised to take a step forward with their production while weaving through a favorable schedule. If their secondary can avoid regression, then expect the Chippewas to be in contention to make the MAC conference championship, making them worth a sprinkle.
Best Bet: Miami- Ohio
2026 MAC Win Total Odds
- Akron (4.5)
- Ball State (3.5)
- Bowling Green (5)
- Buffalo (6)
- Central Michigan (6.5)
- Eastern Michigan (6)
- Kent State (3.5)
- Miami-Ohio (7)
- Sacramento State (5)
- Ohio (7)
- Toledo (7.5)
- UMass (3)
- Western Michigan (7.5)
With continuity at key positions, Miami-OH will be able to side step regression while potentially receiving a boost in production with Rodney Nelson in the backfield. A dominant runner who eclipsed 1,800 yards last season, Nelson will be able to continue to gash opposing front sevens and keep the Redhawks ahead of the sticks. At 7.5, place a wager on Miami-OH to clear the over on their win total.
A newcomer in the conference, oddsmakers believe Sacramento State will get off to a rocky start, listing their win total at 4.5. With their defense giving them minimal support with their production, the Hornets will find themselves quickly behind the scoreboard on a weekly basis, making it difficult for them to climb out of a hole and keep it close.
While Toledo’s defense is expected to be far more efficient, their offense has plenty of question marks lingering over them, shading value towards the under on their win total. Especially if their new additions are unable to quickly gel together, leaving the Rockets vulnerable to prolonged scoring lulls which will plummet their chances of winning.
Best Bet: Miami-Ohio Over
2026 MAC Heisman Trophy Contenders, Odds
As of writing, there are no players in the MAC listed on the oddsboard to win the Heisman. While the conference itself has not produced a winner for the award, a few previous winners have started their careers in the MAC before transferring elsewhere, including Fernando Mendoza who won the Heisman last year who previously played for Eastern Michigan.
Heading into this season, one player sticks out as a potential longshot, Miami-OH’s Rodney Nelson who is in a position to thrive this season. After putting up monster numbers at Monmouth, Nelson will be able to build on his momentum with the Redhawks while running behind one of the best offensive lines in the nation. If he can hit the ground running in week one, sprinkle a very small bet on the Redhawks running back to win the award.

2026 MAC College Football Playoff Odds
Even though I am high on Miami-OH, the harsh reality is other G6 schools will be able to build a far stronger case for the automatic qualifying spot, keeping the Redhawks out of contention. Should they be able to upset Pittsburgh, then consider adding them to the portfolio if you are able to catch a good number on them before oddsmakers slash their odds, giving you room to hedge once the list of G6 contenders are trimmed later in the year.
