2026 Pac-12 College Football Betting Preview, Odds & Best Bets
The Pac-12 Conference has been reborn in new fashion after disappearing for two years following the exodus of nearly all of the mainstay programs in the conference.
Many of the favorites in the new-look Pac-12 are powers from the Mountain West conference, with Boise State sporting the shortest odds to win the league championship. San Diego State, Fresno State, and Utah State also come over from the Mountain West and are listed as contenders alongside the two holdovers (Washington State and Oregon State) from the previous era of Pac-12 football.
Texas State comes over from the Sun Belt Conference with a strong roster led by sophomore quarterback Brad Jackson, giving the Bobcats the third-shortest odds in the eight-team conference.
With the conference in flux, so are many of the programs, as new coaches take over at Washington State (Kirby Moore), Oregon State (JaMarcus Shepard), and Colorado State (Jim Mora).
The Pac-12 Championship is scheduled for 5 p.m. (PST) Friday, December 4 at the home stadium of the highest seed, rather than at a neutral site.
The Championship game matchup will be determined after Week 12 (Nov. 21), followed by a week of flex scheduling on November 28, with matchups confirmed six days prior to that Saturday. League officials will select matchups (classified as non-conference bouts) in the “best interest” of the Pac-12, essentially boosting the stock of any contenders for Bowl Games or the College Football Playoff.
It is vital to read the fine print at sportsbooks when placing any bets on the Pac-12 related to win totals, since some books are accounting for this flex week, and some are not.
2026 Pac-12 Winner Odds
After riding Ashton Jeanty to a Fiesta Bowl appearance in 2024, Boise State took a bit of a step back last year, but still won a third straight Mountain West title. Other than some losses at receiver and cornerback, the Broncos have continuity at most position groups. Yet this isn’t a runaway favorite or some powerhouse, and an opening week loss at Oregon could dent Boise State’s stock for futures wagers going forward.
San Diego State beat Boise State, 17-7, a week after Fresno State rolled the Broncos, 30-7, during an injury-riddled stretch last November. Sean Lewis has the Aztecs on the rise with a strong recruiting class coming to San Diego after a 9-4 season. In theory, San Diego State has a dynamic offense, while Fresno State uses a ground-and-pound approach that depends on controlling the trenches.
Texas State is intriguing as a newcomer to this region with a proven quarterback in Jackson. The Bobcats should also take some lumps early with non-conference bouts on tap against mighty Texas and UTSA, so they will be battle-tested by the time Pac-12 play heats up.
We threw some water on Boise State as a prohibitive favorite, but it’s worth taking the Broncos at plus money to handle business as the big dog in a new conference full of moving parts. This program has continuity and leadership in senior QB Maddux Madsen, depth across the defense, and a favorable conference schedule that could set up for home field advantage in the Pac-12 title game.

Some sportsbooks are holding off on exact win totals for Pac-12 contenders. This is a rather even conference across the board and it will be tough to project season-long win totals with so many close calls on the league schedule.
Boise State is projected for around 8.5 wins, with San Diego State and Fresno State a tick lower at 7.5 wins. Washington State is in the next tier at 6.5 wins, while Oregon State, Utah State, Texas State, and Colorado State all hover around 5.5 wins.
Again, note that some books are accounting for an 11-game schedule without accounting for the Week 13 flex scheduling. Some books are accounting for a 12-game schedule and that requires projecting potential matchups for that home-and-home flex scheduling.
Expect Fresno State to take a step back with new scenery in the conference. The Sun Devils open with a likely loss to USC and open conference play at Washington State. They could get whooped in a revenge spot by Boise State on Oct. 10 and have road tests at Utah State and Texas State in November. Getting to eight wins might be a tall task for a team that depends on ground success above all else.
At a total of 6.5 wins, Washington State stands out as a good team to back on the over. New coach Kirby Moore could work magic with an offense that includes several options at quarterback and tailback. Former Oregon State head coach Trent Bray will have to work magic with a defense full of new pieces. If it all falls into place, the Cougars could cruise past seven wins, or they could grind their way to a winning record and still cash that bet.
Best Bet: Washington State Over 5.5 (+135)
2026 Pac-12 Heisman Trophy Contenders, Odds
- Maddux Madsen (Boise State)
If Ashton Jeanty couldn’t win the Heisman in 2024 while posting one of the greatest running back seasons in the history of college football, it’s hard to imagine Boise State producing a Heisman winner. Yet the Broncos are the only team in the Pac-12 with a candidate, and their QB has massively long odds. There simply isn’t a pathway for players from non-power conferences to win the Heisman at this stage.
Best Bet: Pass
2026 Pac-12 College Football Playoff Odds
While the Pac-12 is looking to stack the deck with flex scheduling in Week 13, Boise State is at least 5/1 to make the College Football Playoff and no other team in the conference is listed among the contenders.
Boise State could enter the discussion by stunning Oregon in Week 1, and Fresno State has a similar opportunity at USC. Barring either of those upsets occurring, the Pac-12 is unlikely to have an at-large bid in the 12-team tournament field and there is no automatic qualifier for the league champion.
