After losing to Alabama in the regular season, the Georgia Bulldogs were able to get their revenge in the SEC Conference Championship, beating the Crimson Tide 28-7. Heading into 2026, expect Georgia to make another appearance in Mercedes-Benz Stadium on December 5th and stamp their ticket to the playoffs.

With Gunner Stockton making his return under center while surrounded by a productive cast of skill players, the Georgia Bulldogs are built to make another run at the SEC Conference Championship. Especially when retaining a majority of their defense who ranked in the top-40 in Success Rate, limiting the amount of variance in their contests which increases their chances of winning.
Alabama on the other hand is poised to take a step back after an underwhelming offseason, failing to patch last year’s glaring holes. Their brutal schedule also gives them zero room for error, potentially knocking them out of the conference title picture early on in the year if they are unable to quickly round back into form.
Turning our attention towards the top of the oddsboard, the Texas Longhorns are expected to make their return to the conference championship after re-tooling their offense, giving Arch Manning the weapons he needs to thrive. Like the Crimson Tide, the Longhorns also need to navigate through a tough schedule, making it tough for them to rack up enough wins.
Speaking of overhauls, LSU fields a whole new identity heading into 2026 with Lane Kiffin leading the charge. If Sam Leavitt is able to build on his momentum, then the Tigers may be able to make some noise, making them an intriguing team to monitor early on in the year.

Not only are they projected to be the betting favorite in all 9 games, but their continuity will help them avoid any early regression, making the over on their win total worth a bet at 10.5.
Georgia’s rival, Alabama is potentially in for a rough year per their win total, entering the season listed at 8.5. A stunning sight to see after years of dominance under Nick Saban, yet their lack of additions in the offseason holds them back from being a well rounded unit, knocking them down a peg while the rest of the conference utilizes the transfer portal more efficiently.
Unlike the Crimson Tide, the Longhorns were aggressive in their efforts of acquiring talent in the portal, quickly turning themselves into a viable contender. Even after loading up on skill players, a double digit season is still a lofty goal as Texas draws the short end of the stick in terms of their schedule, making them a pass at their current win total.
Missouri also gets the unfortunate favor of weaving through a tough schedule, ending their year with matchups against Georgia, Texas, and Oklahoma. With their offensive line struggling to hold their ground while integrating new talent at multiple positions in the trenches, their offense will be forced into early outs, making it difficult for the Tigers to match their opponents output.

Rivaling Stockton at the top of the oddsboard is Arch Manning, the Longhorns dual threat quarterback who underwhelmed in his first stint as their starter. With more weapons around him, Manning will be able to take a step forward with his production and stuff the stat sheet on a weekly basis.
Sam Leavitt and Trinidad Chambliss are another pair of viable contenders for the award, yet will most likely struggle to secure enough wins to grab the media’s attention. If LSU and Ole Miss are able to instantly integrate their new faces on both sides of the ball, then they will be worth a mid-season addition to the portfolio.
Even though Keelon Russell and Austin Mack are locked into a quarterback duel with neither player winning the job as of writing, either name will see a bump in their odds to win the award once someone is declared the starter. Unfortunately for both players, their tough schedule will make it near impossible for them to string together their performances, keeping them out of contention for the Heisman.

Even at 9-3 with their current schedule, it’s tough to envision the committee rewarding Alabama with a spot in the playoffs, especially when their third loss happens during the regular season instead of a conference championship. Projections also have the Crimson Tide listed as a favorite in just seven of their games, indicating they may be in for a long year. If Alabama starts hot, monitor their playoff odds and see if you can get better value for them to miss the playoffs – as it is currently too expensive but might be playable as the season progresses.
