Dominican Republic vs. USA Preview

Dominican Republic has been the best team throughout the tournament. This lineup is completely stacked, which is why they’ve steamrolled most of the competition. The latest being Korea in a 10-0 beatdown. But this is a small sample of five games, so we have to acknowledge they’re in a tough spot against USA.

The reason for this is simple: USA has a significant edge on the mound. Paul Skenes is one of the best pitchers in the world, while Luis Severino is just a veteran innings-eater.

With that said, USA hasn’t been that impressive in this tournament. They’ve lost to Italy, while squeaking by Canada and Mexico.

It’s a battle of hitting vs. pitching here in what could be the game of the tournament.

Dominican Republic vs. USA Betting Pick

This line feels slightly mispriced with USA as -135 favorites, especially considering how well Dominican Republic has played throughout the tournament.

Yes, Skenes is as good as any pitcher in the world, but he’s pretty much capped at six innings. Teams haven’t let their pitchers go deep into games since it’s so early in spring.

Severino just needs to hold down the fort in the early stages of this game.

Additionally, this offense is good enough to cause problems against any pitcher, even Skenes.

With that in mind, we’ll ride with Dominican Republic here.
