Huge news dropped in the WNBA today with the Atlanta Dream trading for star Angel Reese, sending the Chicago Sky a pair of picks for the rebound assassin. The trade was announced on Monday afternoon with the WNBA futures odds markets becoming even more intriguing following the expansion draft last week.

Angel Reese to Win 2026 WNBA MVP Award?

Reese immediately becomes a top contender to win the WNBA MVP Award becoming a member of a rising Atlanta Dream squad that saw a huge improvement a year ago. Reese’s current odds to win the award sit at +6000 with bet365, sitting behind a tough group of gals to get past if she wants to actually lift the hardware.

You’ll notice that Reese doesn’t even have the best odds to win on the Atlanta Dream, as Rhyne Howard at +3500 actually has better odds to win. What’s also worth noting is that Atlanta also got Brittney Griner, so the rebounds that Reese typically vaccuums could be in jepoardy with both Griner and Howard running around.

Also, Jordin Canada is still expected to make a big splash one of these years. It’s possible Canada hits her peak with the added talent around her and breaks out. However you look at it, Reese presents great value to win this award as the media darling for a contender but will be difficult as both league talent and talent on her own team might jeopardize it actually coming to fruition.

Atlanta Dream 2026 WNBA Finals Odds

Sticking with bet365, the Atlanta Dream have the fifth-best odds to lift the WNBA Championship at +1000 with the Phoenix Mercury. This makes sense, as Karl Smesko clearly has something going in Atlanta after last season’s success but it’s still somewhat unknown with new pieces in town along with two franchises being added to the league as a whole.

The Aces are still the team to beat until further notice, while Minnesota also presents a safer play than Atlanta. New York is also a better bet to have a ticket on entering the season, but of all the franchise under those three – the Dream are worth a four-digit play. It’s unlikely Reese carries them to the title, but getting those odds as opposed to an injury-riddled Caitlin Clark Fever team at +375 seems to be a better strategy right now. It’s tough to see Indiana’s odds get shorter with New York breathing down its neck.
