Best Bet: Braves ML (+182) at DraftKings

Score Prediction: Braves 5, Dodgers 3

The Pick: Braves 5, Dodgers 3

We’ll take the Braves outright, with head-to-head data supporting a potential upset matched with the Dodgers struggles vs MLB Playoff clubs.

Game Betting Analysis

This one worries us, but let’s break it down. We’re going out on a huge risk here, taking the Braves outright. Why? The Braves have lost six straight playoff road games outright. Well, the total doesn’t have much conviction, while there is enough data to get behind backing an underdog at juicy plus-value. Starting with the head-to-head, Atlanta has won the last five outright against Los Angeles including six of seven. Atlanta has covered the run line in four of five meetings, as the underdog has covered all five meetings. The concerning trend, however, lies on the Dodgers in that Los Angeles has lost outright in a remarkable 13 of 15 games when facing a team that made the 2026 MLB Playoffs. So, despite our concerns, there is enough data to support the notion of testing a longshot underdog to pull off the upset.

Deciding Factor: Dodgers’ Pitching Depth vs. Braves’ Shorthanded Staff

The Dodgers finished 93-60 and clinched their fifth straight NL West title, and the depth of their rotation is so deep that manager Dave Roberts can afford to bypass reigning World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto for Game 1 in favor of trade-deadline addition Tarik Skubal, who’s posted a 2.61 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 62 innings since arriving and carries a 2.04 ERA over his postseason career. That luxury lets LA line up its whole series rotation in advance, with Snell in Game 2, Yamamoto in Game 3, and Glasnow in Game 4, without needing to overextend anyone this early.

Atlanta is working with the opposite problem. The Braves needed a dramatic 6-2 win over Philadelphia in the winner-take-all Game 3 of the Wild Card round just to reach this point, leaning on reliever Ray Kerr, only six weeks removed from Tommy John surgery, for 3.1 scoreless innings, and bringing back Chris Sale to close out the eighth just 48 hours after he threw 95 pitches. That bullpen dependence exists because the rotation is too thin to trust, with Sale and Tyler Mahle unavailable to start and Martín Pérez not eligible until Game 3. If Atlanta is forced to scrape together length from the bullpen again in Game 1, it’s difficult to see that holding up against a Dodgers staff with more frontline starters than it has rotation spots to use them in.
