Game Betting Analysis

It’s hard not to take the Under here, as the Chiefs went Under the total in eight of their nine home games a season ago. Yes, some of that was due to injuries late in the season but the offensive struggles were relevant early as well. Also, the Under has hit in six straight meetings between these two clubs that play minimum twice a year. The Chiefs also saw a -3.5-point spread, which was high, but that is now down to +2.5. If you got Denver at +3.5, more power to you with Kansas City dropping the spread in eight straight games when playing as a favorite along with eight of nine games overall. Denver has also covered the spread in four of five meetings along with seven of the last nine against Kansas City

Deciding Factor: Broncos Pass Rush vs. Mahomes’ Rebuilt Pocket Mobility

The clearest trend in this series isn’t a stat category — it’s a scoring environment. Games from 2020-2022 averaged nearly 49 combined points as Kansas City’s offense dictated pace; since 2023, that number has dropped to under 34, with Denver’s defense turning three of the last five meetings into low-scoring, field-position battles (including a 38-0 shutout). That shift now collides with Mahomes’ return from a Week 15 ACL tear. Denver’s pass rush — Nik Bonitto and Zach Allen off the edge, with Pat Surtain II locking down the perimeter — thrives on forcing quarterbacks off their spot. Mahomes’ scrambling and extended-play magic have historically bailed out stalled drives against this exact front; how much of that mobility survives the rebuilt knee determines whether this game reverts to a shootout or extends Denver’s defensive-era stranglehold on the series.
