Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Player Prop Picks
Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers tips off this Saturday at 6:00pm EST in Philadelphia, PA as a home game for the 76ers. The Nets are currently a +3.5 underdog and +140 on the moneyline while the total is set at 233. Expect Tyrese Maxey to fall back to reality after an explosive last game while the Nets Nic Claxton anchors the paint, all giving value as player props for this Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers matchup.
Tyrese Maxey Under 31.5 Points
In the gambling world, a monster outing usually presents a prime betting opportunity as sportsbooks tend to inflate a player’s line. Tyrese Maxey is this Saturday’s target after dropping an astonishing 51 points against the Utah Jazz. Maxey shot 7-9 from three and 17-27 from the field as he carried a brunt of the load for the 76ers offense.
He will now be the main focal point for the Sixers offense moving forward while Joel Embiid deals with injury uncertainty. While a higher usage normally correlates with an over, Maxey draws a tough matchup against the Nets. Especially if Ben Simmons decides to play, still playing as arguably one of the better defending guards due to his length and athleticism.
Even if Simmons is unable to give a go, the Nets still pose an issue as they play at one of the slowest paces in the league. That limits the number of possessions the 76ers receive, forcing Maxey to maximize on his limited chances. Nic Claxton is also a stout interior defender, potentially forcing Maxey to find more success from the perimeter and mid-range which is less than ideal for consistency.
Tyrese Maxey Under 6.5 Assists
Correlating this prop with the previously mentioned one, the limited number of possessions will also affect Maxey’s chances of getting an assist as well. Even with a higher ball handling usage in games without Embiid, Maxey tends to use those games for more scoring opportunities rather than assists.

That sounds counterintuitive to the previously mentioned prop, yet his secondary scorers around him will struggle just as much to score as Maxey will. They fail to create separation as one-dimensional scorers, being prone to low quality shooting opportunities. Expect the Sixers to struggle as a unit, playing into what may be a very ugly offensive outing.
Nic Claxton Over 11.5 Rebounds
Even with Ben Simmons potentially making his return, Claxton should find himself with plenty of high-quality rebounding opportunities. Especially with Simmons still being on a minutes restriction should he play, barely chipping away at Claxton’s amount of rebounding opportunities. Especially since Claxton is their sole big man who anchors the interior, being in the best position possible for a majority of the matchup.
Not only do the Nets run relatively small, but Claxton also gets the benefit of playing against the Sixers without Joel Embiid. Like the Nets, the Sixers also run relatively small which opens up more rebounding opportunities for Claxton to snatch. That isn’t to say he won’t be battling others down low, yet the game script calls for Claxton to be anchored in the paint which already consistently sets him up in the best position.
A large part of having to be anchored in the paint is due to shifting their coverage to limiting Tyrese Maxey. It’s apparent that Maxey shoulders a heavier scoring usage in games without Joel Embiid, being better off anchoring Claxton in the paint to smother his looks at the rim on his drives. By taking away Maxey, that dares the Sixers to beat them with someone else which is a feat that they may not be able to pull off.
Nic Claxton First Field Goal Scorer
This is a market I rarely attack, yet Claxton’s advantage in the interior cannot go unnoticed. Not only will he be in a good position to haul in rebounds as previously mentioned, yet he may find himself with high quality scoring opportunities as well. Especially early on while the Sixers focus on the likes of Cam Thomas and Mikal Bridges, potentially opening up gaps on the opposite side for Claxton to exploit.
Should you want some added security, you can take a modified version of this bet that cashes on a free throw. FanDuel offers a First Basket Scorer including Free Throw Market, meaning if Claxton gets fouled right away then he still has an opportunity to cash this. This market cuts into some of the juice, yet the added security of getting fouled by a smaller defender makes it worth a play as well.
