Despite earning a first-round bye in consecutive postseasons, the Lions have failed to win the NFC with this current regime. Their Super Bowl odds are in the  range ahead of the 2025-26 NFL campaign.

The Lions will face the league’s second-toughest schedule and the most challenging road slate. Even if they’re healthier defensively than a season ago, they could take a step back with play-caller Ben Johnson moving on to Chicago and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn nabbing the Jets’ head-coaching gig. Recent history shows it’s possible. Two years ago, the defending champion Eagles significantly underperformed the betting market’s expectations in the second half after losing both coordinators in the previous offseason.
