Game Betting Analysis
While it is difficult to take the Falcons here, there are two concerns for Green Bay. The first, Michael Penix Jr. returns for Atlanta meaning the Falcons offense can literally go in either direction, tough to predict. The second is a trend, a trend that Detroit actually covered a week ago against Buffalo – and that is teams coming off overtime are 6-26 ATS when playing Thursday Night Football the next game. So while Green Bay has won 13 straight home openers outright, we reluctantly go to the Atlanta spread – as Green Bay has also dropped the spread in eight straight games.

Deciding Factor: Atlanta’s Pass Rush vs. Green Bay’s Short Week
Atlanta’s defensive front is playing the best football in the league right now. The Falcons lead the NFL with 23 total pressures through two games, and that pass rush lines up against a Packers offensive line that ranks dead last in pass-block win rate at just 18%. Michael Penix Jr. is back under center after missing the first two weeks with a torn ACL, and Bijan Robinson gives him an established outlet regardless — he’s caught 8 passes for 90 yards to open the season and topped 40 receiving yards in five of nine Penix starts a year ago, averaging 53.7 yards a game on 6.2 targets in that stretch. A defense that’s already winning up front paired with a quarterback who has a proven connection to his lead back is a real problem for a Green Bay, who can’t protect their own passer.
Green Bay, meanwhile, is banged up and gassed. The Packers needed overtime to beat the Jets last week, and teams coming off an OT game the week before a Thursday Night turnaround are 2-18 ATS — one of the more lopsided trends in football, and it’s landing on an offense that was already stalling out. Jordan Love is completing just 52.1% of his passes, Green Bay ranks 32nd on third down, and Jayden Reed — one of Love’s top targets — is doubtful after being carted off Sunday. If Atlanta’s front seven gets home the way it has all season against a shorthanded, short-rested line, that’s a nightmare matchup for a Packers offense that hasn’t found its rhythm yet
