Home Run Prop Predictions & Odds: MLB HR Best Bets for Saturday, September 26th
Saturday’s slate has a few soft spots on the mound, and these three hitters are lined up to take full advantage. From a red-hot Diamondback in the middle of a playoff push to a Cardinal riding one of the loudest home run streaks in the league, here are the picks based purely on form, ballpark, and who’s on the mound.
Christian Walker (Astros vs. Athletics) Home Run Odds
Houston’s at the Athletics tonight, and this is actually at Sutter Health Park (the A’s temporary home in West Sacramento), a notably small, hitter-friendly park. Walker just hit his 200th career homer and has gone deep in multiple recent games. He draws Jack Perkins, who’s 3-12 with a 5.90 ERA. Strong combination of current power, tiny ballpark, and a pitcher getting hit hard all year.
Ivan Herrera (Cardinals vs. Brewers) Home Run Odds
Herrera has real thump right now, including a 439-foot blast and a two-homer game within the last week. St. Louis heads to American Family Field, which plays small under its roof, to face Dustin May, who’s still finding his footing as a starter after joining Milwaukee’s rotation at the trade deadline and is sitting at a 4.67 ERA. The combination of Herrera’s recent power surge, a hitter-friendly building, and a pitcher who’s still a work in progress as a starter makes this an easy lean.
Nolan Arenado (Diamondbacks vs. Padres) Home Run Odds
Arenado is about as hot as it gets right now — he’s up to 29 home runs on the season and has gone deep in back-to-back games, including first-inning shots in each of Arizona’s last two wins as the Diamondbacks fight for a playoff spot. Tonight he draws Walker Buehler (4.56 ERA) at Petco Park. It’s a pitcher’s park, but Arenado’s current form is doing the heavy lifting here, and Buehler hasn’t been sharp enough this year to slow him down.
