Home Run Prop Predictions & Odds: MLB HR Best Bets for Friday, September 18th
We hit on Yordan Alvarez to hit a home run on the Thursday slate. With a jam-packed Friday slate, there are many more options to choose from. Today, we’re going with Munetaka Murakami, Kody Clemens, and Konnor Griffin. I like the spots for each of these hitters, as they have exploitable pitching matchups.
Kody Clemens (Twins vs. Angel) Home Run Odds
Kody Clemens has been a surprising breakout for the Twins, slashing .241/.302/.470 with 26 home runs in 548 plate appearances. He has a respectable 11.6% barrel rate in what’s been a career year for the 30-year-old.
Coming into Thursday’s action, Clemens had two homers in his last eight games, so he’s in top form right now. I like the matchup against Angels’ right-hander Grayson Rodriguez, who has a 5.53 xERA and a 1.45 HR/9 this year.
Lefties like Clemens have a .400 wOBA vs. Grayson (righties are at .314 wOBA), making this even more of an appealing matchup.
With that in mind, we’ll ride with Clemens to hit No. 27 here. Risk 0.1 units.
Konnor Griffin (Royals vs. Pirates)
Konnor Griffin has had an injury-plagued rookie season, but he’s slashing a respectable .262/.315/.384 with five home runs and 22 stolen bases in 295 plate appearances.
While the power has been underwhelming, we’ve seen him hit safely in four of his last five games coming into Thursday night. Remember, this is a highly touted prospect who is capable of hitting 25 homers.
I like the matchup against Randy Dobnak, who has a 4.49 xERA on the season. We’re getting a nice price on Griffin here, making him worth a sprinkle to hit No. 6 in this spot. Risk 0.1 units.
