Home Run Prop Predictions & Odds: MLB HR Best Bets for Thursday, September 3
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Home Run Odds for Thursday
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been arguably the most disappointing player in MLB this season. Heading into Wednesday’s action with a .258/.330/.348 slash, Vlad Jr.’s collapse has come out of nowhere. However, we finally saw some encouraging signs on Wednesday night.
Vlad Jr. went 3-for-4 with a monster home run in a blowout win over the Guardians. He absolutely crushed that ball, looking like the Vladdy that carried the Blue Jays to the World Series last season. Has he finally figured it out?
I’ll take my chances that this is the start of a hot streak, as home runs often come in bunches. I like the matchup against Tanner Bibee, who has a 4.29 xERA and a 1.44 HR/9 on the season. On top of that, Vlad Jr. has good numbers vs. Bibee, going 4-for-9 with one home run and a .744 expected slugging percentage.
Yordan Alvarez Home Run Odds for Thursday
Yordan Alvarez is having an absolutely monster season, slashing .316/.433/.603 with 37 home runs in 601 plate appearances heading into Wednesday’s action. This includes otherworldly batted ball metrics, as highlighted by a 16.6% barrel rate.
Up next is a matchup against Luis Castillo, who has a 5.00 xERA and a 1.70 HR/9 this season. If that’s not enough, Alvarez has crushed Castillo throughout his career, putting up five home runs and a 1.229 expected slugging percentage in 27 plate appearances.
Wilyer Abreu Home Run Odds for Thursday
Wilyer Abreu has been terrific for the Red Sox this year, slashing .256/.334/.465 with 23 home runs in 595 plate appearances. This includes rock-solid batted ball metrics, as highlighted by a 12.2% barrel rate.
Coming into Wednesday, Abreu has one home run in his last five games. I like the spot against Brandon Young, who has a 4.36 xERA and a 1.17 HR/9 on the season. As a “cherry on top,” Abreu has one home run and a 1.135 expected slugging percentage in three plate appearances vs. Young.
