An intriguing set of Game 1s is now in the books in the AL and NL Wild Card Series, and we’re now set for a quartet of potential elimination scenarios in the MLB Playoffs on Wednesday.

Ozzie Albies (Braves vs. Phillies) Over Singles
Albies was one of the catalysts in Atlanta’s 5-3 win over the Phillies in Game 1, going 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk and two runs. The veteran infielder entered Tuesday with 34 singles in 43 career playoff games, and although his one knock Tuesday went for extra bases, a single is naturally a higher-percentage wager and Albies collected 96 of them during the regular season.
Albies collected 45 of those in 81 home games, and he owns a career .500 average against Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez in 19 career encounters. Albies has six singles in that sample, and 56 of the 83 hits Sanchez allowed to right-handed hitters on the road this season were singles as well. Albies’ excellent track record against the talented southpaw and the former’s high contact rates – he posted a 15.4% strikeout rate this past season – put this prop in play.

Jeremy Pena (Astros vs. White Sox) Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Pena’s leadoff role and stellar track record at home always make him a consideration for an Over at Minute Maid Field, and a solid track record against the opposing pitcher only makes him more appealing. Pena opened the postseason with a hit and a run over four plate appearances in Tuesday’s loss to the White Sox, and with Houston’s season on the line Wednesday, we’re backing the talented shortstop playing a role in his team’s quest to force a Game 3.
Pena has a career. 375 average with a double, a walk and an RBI across nine career plate appearances against White Sox starter Sean Burke. Pena also posted a .303 average, .937 OPS, .399 wOBA and +10.9 wRAA against right-handed pitching at home during the regular season, and he’s an excellent hitter against Burke’s most-often-thrown pitch to right-handed hitters – the four-seam fastball – posting a .349 average and .418 wOBA in that split.

Max Fried (Yankees vs. Red Sox) Over Outs Recorded
Fried finished his regular season off on a solid note, pitching to a 3.29 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 13.2 innings in starts against the Twins and Rays. The veteran left-hander posted a 10:2 K:BB and didn’t allow a homer in that sample, numbers that are representative of his career-long profile as a pitcher who does a good job keeping the ball in the park, typically exhibits strong location and eats up his fair share of innings.
Fried recorded at least 17 outs in 11 of 20 starts this season, and he came just an out short on three other occasions. Wednesday, the lefty faces a Red Sox squad whose current hitters he’s limited to a collective .206 average and .579 OPS across 145 total plate appearances. Those numbers are partly the byproduct of one 2026 appearance versus Boston, when Fried blanked the Red Sox over eight innings while recording nine strikeouts at Fenway Park on April 26.
The Red Sox also produced an anemic .216 average, .299 wOBA and -2.4 wRAA against left-handers on the road over the last month of the regular season, boosting Fried’s chances of getting to at least 17 outs.
