The Wild Card Round is my favorite part of the NFL playoffs. We get postseason football from Saturday through Monday, and this year’s slate features several compelling matchups, highlighted by Bills vs. Jaguars and 49ers vs. Eagles.

When breaking down NFL playoff games, bettors often focus on head-to-head matchups, home-field advantage, recent form, and postseason experience. All of those factors matter, but weather is another variable that should not be overlooked. Wind, rain, and cold temperatures can meaningfully influence game flow and betting outcomes.

On this page, we will break down the weather forecast for every NFL Wild Card Round game and analyze how conditions could impact spreads, totals, and betting strategy.

How Weather Impacts NFL Betting During the Playoffs

This article is best used as a complementary piece within your overall betting process. Weather should not dominate your handicap, but it should not be ignored either. Think of it as another data point that helps sharpen your edge.

For each matchup, I will list the forecast along with opening and current point spreads and totals to see whether the market has reacted to weather concerns. Wind is the biggest factor to watch, as it can disrupt downfield passing and kicking. Rain or snow often pushes teams toward more run-heavy game scripts.

Now, let’s break down each Wild Card matchup.

Los Angeles Rams at Carolina Panthers Weather Report and Betting Outlook

Forecast:

  • 74-degree temperatures
  • 71 percent chance of rain
  • 13 MPH winds

Rainy conditions are expected in Carolina, which could benefit the Panthers by helping keep this game closer than expected. Weather often favors underdogs, particularly when it limits explosive passing plays.

The Rams opened as 10-point favorites and have moved to -10.5, suggesting the market is not overly concerned about the rain. The total opened at 46.5 and has largely remained unchanged.

If you believe the weather plays a larger role than the market is accounting for, the under 46.5 becomes an interesting angle.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears Weather Report and Betting Outlook

Forecast:

  • 32-degree temperatures
  • 44 percent chance of rain
  • 13 MPH winds

There is a chance of showers or flurries in Chicago, and cold weather in a divisional playoff game often leads to a more run-heavy approach. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 MPH, which would have a noticeable impact on the passing game and field goal attempts.

The spread opened as a pick’em and has moved to Packers -1. The bigger reaction has come on the total, which dropped from 46.5 to as low as 44.5 in some markets.

This is one of the clearer weather-driven line moves of the week, making the under a stronger position here than in Rams vs. Panthers.

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars Weather Report and Betting Outlook

Forecast:

  • 66-degree temperatures
  • 16 percent chance of rain
  • 11 MPH winds

Weather conditions in Jacksonville look favorable, with minimal wind and a low chance of rain. That is good news for what many consider the most intriguing matchup of the Wild Card Round.

The spread opened at Bills -1 and has remained steady. The total opened at 52 and has dipped slightly to 51.5 in some shops.

With weather unlikely to be a limiting factor, the over remains viable despite the high number. These conditions may also favor Jacksonville, which leans more on timing and finesse in the passing game.

San Francisco 49ers at Philadelphia Eagles Weather Report and Betting Outlook

Forecast:

  • 46-degree temperatures
  • 22 percent chance of rain
  • 13 MPH winds

Cold temperatures with a slight chance of rain are expected in Philadelphia, but nothing extreme enough to significantly alter game plans.

The Eagles opened as 3.5-point favorites and the line has climbed as high as -5.5, indicating strong market confidence in Philadelphia. The total dropped from 46 to 44.5, but this appears unrelated to weather.

Instead, the move likely reflects concerns about Brock Purdy against an elite Eagles defense after recent struggles.

Los Angeles Chargers at New England Patriots Weather Report and Betting Outlook

Forecast:

  • 37-degree temperatures
  • 19 percent chance of rain
  • 6 MPH winds

Cold weather is the only concern in this matchup, with minimal wind and little threat of precipitation.

The Patriots opened at -3.5 and the line has held steady. The total has ticked up slightly from 45.5 to 46, possibly influenced by the lack of weather-related limitations.

That said, this still projects as one of the slower-paced games of the weekend, keeping the under in play from a matchup perspective.

Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers Weather Report and Betting Outlook

Forecast:

  • 33-degree temperatures
  • 3 percent chance of rain
  • 9 MPH winds

Similar to Chargers vs. Patriots, cold temperatures are the primary factor here, with no major concerns regarding wind or precipitation.

The Texans opened as 3-point road favorites and the line has remained unchanged, largely due to their defensive edge. The total has dropped from 39.5 to 38.5, signaling skepticism that Pittsburgh’s offense can generate consistent scoring.

Weather is not the driver here, but the low total reflects a grind-it-out game script.
