Pavel Dorofeyev Anytime Goal Scorer

After scoring six goals in his last four games, Pavel Dorofeyev was unable to carry over his momentum into game two against Colorado, failing to find the back of the net while generating just 0.17 Expected Goals. A stunning regression when factoring in how well Dorofeyev has excelled at pressuring the net, averaging nearly 0.40 Expected Goals per game throughout the regular season.

With the Avalanche back line steadily dipping down the board in Expected Goals Against in All Situations and in 5-on-5 Play while Cale Makar is out with an injury, expect Dorofeyev to take advantage of their gaps in coverage and generate high quality Shots on Goal for the full duration of the contest. Especially with his linemates pulling defensive attention away from him, widening the width of his shooting lanes on both sides of the crease.

Jack Eichel Anytime Goal Scorer

After re-tooling their front line, Jack Eichel has been able to be more aggressive in his efforts of pressuring the net while surrounded by productive linemates, averaging 0.34 Expected Goals and 3.51 Shots on Goal per game. With the Golden Knights offense running through Eichel, they have been a formidable unit throughout the playoffs, climbing into the top-5 in Expected Goals For in All Situations.

Heading into Sunday night, expect Eichel to relentlessly attack the Avs back line, increasing the likelihood he is able to weave the puck through their stretched out coverage and generate a high quality Shot on Goal in front of the net. With Eichel comfortably leading the team in Shots on Goal, place a separate smaller wager on him to score the first goal for the Golden Knights as well.

Martin Necas Anytime Goal Scorer

It has been a forgettable stretch of games for Martin Necas, failing to score once in his last five games against Minnesota and Vegas. When in a groove, Necas has played a key role in Colorado’s surge up to the top of the board in Expected Goals For, averaging 0.34 Expected Goals per game.

With the Golden Knights forced to shade their coverage towards Nathan MacKinnon, Necas will continue to have plenty of room in the middle to operate, leading to a higher volume of Shots on Goal. Even with Carter Hart patrolling their net, the Avs high powered offense will force the Golden Knights goalie to constantly make quick cuts across the ice, opening up wider gaps beside him for Necas to exploit.
