Best Bet: Oklahoma -4.5 (-122) at DraftKings
Score Prediction: Oklahoma 21, Michigan 10
The Pick: Oklahoma 21, Michigan 10
Oklahoma to cover -4.5-points is our pick after looking through some data along with Michigan’s Week 1 game that should’ve ended with a Wolverines’ loss.
Game Betting Analysis
Oklahoma was able to win last year’s meeting in Norman, and clearly the better team after Week 1 this season, the rightful favorite entering despite being on the road this time around. That won’t be a huge issue for the Sooners, who have covered the spread in six straight road games when playing in September while Michigan is 4-9 on the ATS over its last 13 games. The spread has more conviction in it than the total as well. Michigan has hit the Over in nine of 10 home games against AP ranked schools but the offensive dud in Week 1 against Western Michigan makes us second guess conviction in it. Also, the Under hit last year between both clubs while OU is also coming off a goose egg shutout against UTEP.
Oklahoma-Michigan Odds (Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under)
Deciding Factor: Bryce Underwood vs. Oklahoma Defensive Unit
Oklahoma has every reason to run away with this game after watching Michigan in Week 1, but Bryce Underwood is still a Heisman-level talent that defenses must respect as a dual-threat weapon. Best case scenario is that the Michigan defense is able to keep the game within reach for Underwood and the offense, along with big plays needed by wide receiver JJ Buchanan. Regardless of who else steps up around Underwood, he can’t have two turnovers as he did against Western Michigan and will have to produce in big play moments should the defense keep Mateer and the Oklahoma offense at bay.
