Despite the Over being tempting to take, we’ll go with Oregon based on some finite data. The Ducks have covered three of four meetings with USC, winning outright in the last four as well. In those games, Oregon has put up a minimum of 31 points, while USC has failed to reach 28. That aligns with both the spread and total lines given, but USC has dropped the spread in seven of eight games – so we’ll buy the idea Oregon scores over 31 total team points. Whichever market that lands you in, feel free to take but with USC hitting the Over in seven of eight home games vs AP ranked schools, the Over and the Ducks would be our rec’s here.

USC is 4-0 and QB Jayden Maiava leads the FBS with 12 touchdown passes against just one interception, completing 76% for roughly 1,200 yards and a 43.0-point offense. But the Trojans have allowed 25-plus points in three of four games (35 Rutgers, 30 Louisiana, 26 San Jose State), sit 104th nationally in defensive success rate, and needed a pick-six just to close out Rutgers. Oregon is the more balanced team: Dante Moore has 9 total touchdowns on 68%-plus completion, and the Ducks rank 9th nationally in offensive EPA per play and 12th on defense — balance USC hasn’t shown all season. If Oregon’s defense holds up anywhere close to form, Maiava’s numbers may not be enough to keep pace.
Context favors Oregon too: the Ducks have won 11 straight true road games in conference play, the longest active FBS streak, and haven’t lost a conference opener since 2018. USC is 1-3 against the spread despite the unbeaten record — results outpacing performance. If Oregon establishes the run early and forces USC into obvious passing downs against a top-12 defense, the Coliseum crowd won’t be enough to bail out a Trojans defense that’s been living dangerously all year.
