The Pick: Rams 23, Broncos 21
We’ll test the Under based on recent trends for both teams through the first two weeks of the season.
Game Betting Analysis
Following the first two weeks, it’s hard not to take the Under. Both teams are 0-2 to the Under after two weeks of play, with the Rams seeing the losing team score just seven points or less while Denver has seen the losing team score 13 points or less. The kicker? Los Angeles has gone Over the total in seven of eight road games. Let’s pocket the Under for that reason and move to the ATS market where the Rams have covered eight straight games against the AFC, while also covering three of four meetings against the Broncos (last in 2022). Denver, though, has seen the home team cover the spread in six straight games while also winning nine straight games outright against the NFC. If looking ATS, then Denver is fine although you might as well test the moneyline for plus-value, but there’s too much friction there so we’ll abide with the Under.

Deciding Factor: Rams’ Ground-and-Pound vs. Bo Nix Bounce-Back
Both teams sit at 1-1, but the Rams have found their identity early through the run game, ranking 6th in the NFL in rushing yards behind a 5.0-yard average per carry and a running back success rate of 50%, second-best in the league, with only 26% of carries stopped at or behind the line against a 46% league average. Denver’s defense hasn’t solved that problem yet, sitting 18th in EPA per play and allowing 5.1 yards per carry, the third-worst rate in football. If Kyren Williams and that ground game keep hitting at this clip, the Rams can control the clock and dictate tempo all afternoon.
Bo Nix answered his rocky opener in a big way in Week 2, completing 22 of 31 passes for 288 yards and taking zero sacks after going down four times in Week 1, a sign the offensive line is settling in. But he now faces a Rams pass rush that posted a 50% pressure rate that same week, second-best in the NFL, even without Myles Garrett, who landed on injured reserve after the team’s blockbuster trade for him. If that pressure rate holds up again, Nix’s clean pocket from a week ago may not last, and the turnovers that follow could be enough to swing this one Los Angeles’ way.
