Caesars New York

Caesars was a late-arriver to the online sports betting scene in North America. Caesars took the approach of acquiring another platform instead of developing its own and did so by acquiring William Hill. The William Hill sportsbook was re-branded and re-designed into Caesars Sportsbook.

Caesars was one of the companies under the Kambi bid that won access to the New York market. Caesars Sportsbook has done a great job at branding and advertising its name. However, New York State will be another beast when it comes to solidifying market share. While many expect Caesars Sportsbook New York to be the top sports betting application in the state, the platform will have some fierce competition!

William Hill Sportsbook was already solid, but Caesars Sportsbook takes the application to another level. The design and feel of the mobile app and desktop site are both fantastic. The interface, in general, is on par with all of the other major sportsbooks.

Where Caesars Sportsbook really thrives is its odds pricing and support. The odds pricing, especially combined with the many promotions and boosted odds, is at an elite level value. When it comes to support, Caesars offers four options, including a phone line, something not many other online sportsbooks can boast.

It was an easy transition to mobile sports betting for FanDuel, and it has shown through the app. The user experience and user interface are second to none, making it one of the best sportsbooks for new users.

Another place in which FanDuel shines is same-game parlays. This has been a staple of FanDuel Sportsbook for quite some time, offering a wide selection of bets to parlay together, even when those bets stem from the same game or event.

BetRivers New York

Rush Street Interactive, the owner of the BetRivers brand, has won the right to enter the online and mobile New York sports betting market. Rush Street Interactive will look to see similar results to that of Michigan, a state where it has seen loads of success.

It is no guarantee that Rush Street chooses the BetRivers brand over the SugarHouse brand in New York; however, BetRivers has been the primary brand in states as of late. The one thing that may sway Rush Street to choose SugarHouse is its name value in neighboring New Jersey & Connecticut.

BetRivers New York Promo Code

The BetRivers New York promo code is “LINEUPS”. Currently, BetRivers New York is offering the smallest new user bonus at a 2nd chance bet up-to $100.

When it comes to betting markets, the best feature of BetRivers is live betting. The live betting markets are plentiful. This means that when choosing a platform to use, after a game or event has already started, BetRivers needs to be near the top of the list. The odds pricing during live games is some of the best in North America.

WynnBET New York

WynnBET was a new player in the sports betting world in 2020 and has since expanded its product to several states. The owners of WynnBET, Wynn Interactive, have pushed the chips into the middle of the table, when it comes to its online sports betting platform. Spending millions on promoting and developing the product.

WynnBET was one of the major players in the Kambi-led bid. This means that WynnBET will have the availability to the New York market that it needs to launch its online betting product. New York bettors may already be familiar with WynnBet, as the platform’s first venture was New Jersey.

WynnBet New York App Preview

The WynnBET app struggles when it comes to design and functionality. The application is a bit harder to use than its competitors’. However, the actual sports betting product is there. The odds pricing is competitive, and the bet slip is a joy to use.

WynnBET does offer customer support in multiple forms, including a live chat to talk to real live agents. This is a massive plus as it allows you to get your issues solved much quicker. However, you can use the FAQ page if you have general questions that need answering.

Bally Bet New York

Bally Bet is a newer sportsbook that is looking to make a name for its brand in New York. At the moment, Bally’s is pushing the marketing side of its sportsbook heavily, investing millions into partnerships. Bally’s was the surprise fourth company on the DK, MGM, and FD side of the two winning bids for New York sports betting market access.

Bally Bet New York App Preview

The Bally Bet Sportsbook app and desktop site are solid. While Bally Bet did nothing to really revolutionize sports betting when it came on to the scene, it built a good app that is reliable and provides solid odds pricing. This is a good sportsbook for both new and experienced users.

The deposits, support, betting markets, and more are all up to industry standard. This is the definition of a sportsbook that you want to add to make sure you are getting the best odds and values when wagering. For a fairly new platform, Bally Bet comes off like an experienced veteran in the online sports betting world.

Resorts World New York

Resorts World currently offers sports betting in a few states. However, we project that Resorts World New York will resemble the Nevada online platform that the company offers in Vegas. This means that Resorts World’s New York sportsbook will most likely be specific to New York State.

With Kambi leading the bid, Resorts World hopped on and has gained access to the giant New York sports betting market.

Resorts World App Preview

Resorts World’s New York app is not yet known. However, if we base the application on the products that Resorts World currently offers in Las Vegas, you can expect a very solid sportsbook with nothing fancy attached. The odds are solid, and betting is the priority.

There are not many gimmicks, just betting markets, your bet slip, and odds. This is great for old-school sports bettors who just want a platform to give them the odds pricing, their bets and need nothing more.

New York NBA 2022 Regular Season Preview

The NBA season is back, and New York sports fans are ready to wager on some of their favorite teams. Here’s what to expect from the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks, the most popular professional basketball teams in the state of New York.

Brooklyn Nets

brooklyn netsHead coach Steve Nash and All-Star Kevin Durant are back, even if the offseason made it seem like a breakup was evident. Durant had an excellent 2021-2022 season, averaging 29.9 points per game. However, the season ended with a playoff loss after so much hype heading into the year. Fans of the team are hoping that the return of Durant, as well as guards Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving, could take this team deep in the Eastern Conference. The Nets have a high floor and a high ceiling, and this should be an interesting season no matter what. The Brooklyn Nets are currently +700 on BetMGM Sportsbook to win it all this year.

New York Knicks

new york knicksHead coach Tom Thibodeau is looking for a return to the playoffs this year. The New York Knicks missed out on the postseason last season, but there’s enough young talent on the team to rack up some wins. Shooting guard R.J. Barrett averaged 20 points per game last year, and hopes are high those numbers will continue to climb in his fourth season as a pro. He’s joined by point guard Jalen Brunson, who was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason. Plus, with power forward Julius Randle primed for another big season, the Knicks could make a big bounceback this season. The team is +15000 on BetRivers Sportsbook to win the 2022-23 NBA Championship.

Probably the best welcome bonus of any of the New York sports bettors comes from PointsBet Sportsbook, which gives new users a total of $250 in second chance bonus bets. In-Person New York Sportsbooks

Like many of the states that have passed legislation for state-regulated sports betting, New York will most likely look to existing casino facilities. Many of these are tribal operations.

There are a handful of commercial casinos in the state of New York that will also push for a physical sportsbook. New York is currently moving into the fourth year of legal casinos. Many of the commercial and tribal operations have underperformed expectations. Here are the top contenders to open their doors to sports bettors. Retail Sportsbooks run by DraftKings and FanDuel can be found inside casinos in Upstate New York.

Resorts World CatSkills

Resorts World is the largest major commercial casinos currently operating in New York. They already have a full slate of table games and slots. Resorts World CatSkills hasn’t quite hit the projected target revenue expected, but it is further along than most. The size, location, and reputation make it highly-probable to become a licensed sportsbook facility.

Address: 888 Resorts World Dr, Monticello, NY 12701

Resorts World New York City

While not as large as the CatSkills operation, Resorts World in New York City has a prime location on its side. Being in the heart of a city home to multiple professional sports franchises gives this casino a clear advantage when sportsbook locations are being handed out.

Address: 110-00 Rockaway Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11420

Del Lago Resort and Casino

This is the second largest of the non-tribal casinos. While revenue from strictly casino operations was off as well, traffic through Del Lago was high. Del Lago has dozens of alluring attractions. Fine dining and exquisite accommodations make it a clear favorite to land a sportsbook. They already have a lounge in place, clearly anticipating a license when they are awarded.

Address: 1133 NY-414, Waterloo, NY 13165

Tioga Downs and Casino

When you’re already accepting racetrack bets, you have the experience the state gaming commission may be looking for when awarding sportsbook locations. Tioga Downs and Casino most certainly has that. They are the third of the big-three commercial casinos currently in operation. Name and recognition give it an advantage in the race to land New York’s retail sportsbook locations.

Address: 2384 W River Rd, Nichols, NY 13812

Turning Stone Resort and Casino

This is the first of the possible tribal casinos that may lead the way in adding physical sportsbooks in New York. The number of possible casinos attached to Native American tribes is short because of lukewarm interest in sports betting thus far by tribal casinos across the nation.

The Oneida Nation is one of those tribal groups showing an interest. This may be the first tribal casino to open up a sportsbook since they already have a lounge that provides the perfect place for taking sports bets.

Address: 5218 Patrick Rd, Verona, NY 13478

Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino

There are six physical casino locations of importance that are operated by the Seneca Nation. The Seneca Nation is the second tribal casino operation voicing an interest in sports betting. Buffalo Creek has the advantage of being proximal to a professional sports franchise, plus a large metropolitan population.

The Niagara Falls location is another prominent facility and would logically be an excellent venue to house a physical sportsbook. The three Seneca Game and Entertainment locations are also current casino locations that would prove viable spots to easily add sports betting.

Address: 1 Fulton St, Buffalo, NY 14204

Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway

With horse racing already on the books, the Empire City Casino has one iron in the fire, so to speak. The facility is located at the corner of Central Park Avenue and Yonkers Avenue, another perk.

Now, add to that the fact MGM Resorts International owns it, and you have the kicker. MGM has been and will continue to be a huge player in the US sports betting movement.

Address: 810 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY 10704

New York Sports Betting Market

With NY going live with mobile sports betting, the state figures to be one of the largest in the country, it’s unclear how much of the current New Jersey handle is coming from NY users, but there is definitely some % coming from NY residents. With NJ pulling in billions in total handle in 2021, the total for NY must be higher. Some experts think that a $2 billion handle for New York Sports Betting is possible in 2022, with a giant 51% tax rate on the sportsbooks, this would mean hundreds of millions in revenue for New York State.

New York online sports betting is now underway and on its way to becoming the leader in the sport betting market in the U.S. Their Jan. 8 launch was the most successful opening weekend of any sports betting launch to date, led by four licensed operators: DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars Sportsbook, and BetRivers Sportsbook.

The moment we have all been waiting for came on Jan. 8 and it was as exciting as it was expected to be. In the first 12 hours of its launch, New York’s online sports betting launch recorded 5.8 million transactions. This is the largest launch by number of transactions by 64%, topping the second-biggest launch, which was in Pennsylvania, by 2.5 million. By the end of the opening weekend, the city that never sleeps tallied 17.2 million transactions, the biggest opening by any state by far. In the 5 New York boroughs alone (Queens, Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island) there were over 8 million transactions. New York is also now the most populated state in the U.S. with an open sports betting market, which lends itself to the record-breaking start.

Nine operators got approved for operation and four of them were live this past weekend – FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, and BetRivers. Bandwidth issues seem to present themselves for each operator, most notably, Caesars who took almost 1 million individual bets over the opening weekend. At one point on Sunday, Caesars was down for three hours because of the huge influx of betting that incurred. Meanwhile, BetRivers recorded under $1 million of betting revenue in their first day, the smallest opening of the four operators.

New Jersey, which has been the leader in the sports betting market in the U.S., is on its way to the No. 2 spot after the emergence of the New York market. On population alone, New York is more than double New Jersey’s, so it’s only a matter of time.

New York Daily Fantasy Sports

As it stands right now, daily fantasy sports games are totally legal in New York. You can currently play on all the biggest daily fantasy sports platforms, such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and Monkey Knife Fight. However, because there’s an ongoing argument on whether or not daily fantasy sports is more of a gambling game or a simple skill-based game, there are some questions about the future of DFS in New York. However, with legal sports betting available in the state, you shouldn’t expect daily fantasy sports to be suddenly outlawed any time soon, barring anything unforeseen. Daily fantasy players in New York can currently switch between the DraftKings DFS platform and DraftKings Sportsbook with ease.

Top New York Sports Teams

yankees

New York Yankees

It’s impossible to discuss New York sports without mentioning the Yankees. The team is extremely popular throughout the area and is one of the most lucrative franchises in not just the MLB, but all of sports.

The New York Yankees have the distinction of having the most total championships in professional sports, with 27 total World Series titles. The team most recently won the league in 2009 after a 4-2 series win over the Philadelphia Phillies. The team is currently partnered with FanDuel Sportsbook as well as Bally Bet Sportsbook.

new york knicks

New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are one of the most popular teams in the New York area. The team plays at Madison Square Garden in Midtown Manhattan, one of the most notorious venues in pro sports.

Despite being one of the most valuable franchises in the NBA, the New York Knicks haven’t been on top of the league in quite some time. In fact, the last time the Knicks were NBA champions was in 1973.

mets

New York Mets

The New York Mets have a loyal fanbase in the New York area. While the team had a disappointing end to the 2021 season, with their division rival Atlanta Braves winning the World Series, they’re hoping for a big 2022 comeback.

Although partially due to the fact the franchise hasn’t been around as long, the New York Mets haven’t had nearly as much success as the Yankees, with two titles to the team’s name.

brooklyn nets

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are currently one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Thanks to players like James Harden and Kevin Durant, the team has the offensive firepower for major postseason runs.

While the Nets have yet to win an NBA championship, the team made a couple of Finals appearances in the early 2000s. Diehard Brooklyn fans are crossing their fingers for the team’s first championship during the 2021-2022 season.

buffalo bills

Buffalo Bills

With the New York Jets and Giants playing in New Jersey, the Buffalo Bills are the sole NFL team located in New York. The Bills might be most well known for their four consecutive Super Bowl appearances with QB Jim Kelly.

While the team had some tough times since those appearances, things are looking up for the Bills. With QB Josh Allen and head coach Sean McDermott, the team is built to compete long into the postseason.

syracuse-orange

Syracuse Orange

When you think of Syracuse sports, the college’s men’s basketball squad likely comes to mind. The school has provided some major NBA stars, such as Derrick Coleman and Carmelo Anthony.

The Syracuse Orange basketball team won an NCAA championship in 2003, and has made six total Final Four appearances. The team currently plays in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, the same home of the Syracuse football team. Syracuse football itself won a national championship in 1959.

army-black-knights

Army Black Knights

The Army Black Knights football team had some major success in the past, with five national championships between 1914 and 1946. Unlike Syracuse, who plays in the ACC conference, the Army Black Knights are not affiliated with any conference.

The Black Knights currently play at Michie Stadium in West Point, New York. The team appeared in the 2020 Liberty Bowl, narrowly losing to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres are another popular New York NHL team, albeit without as much success as the Rangers or Islanders. The team is currently in a bit of a playoff drought, with their last appearance coming in 2011.

Still, Buffalo has a strong fanbase and looks for a bright future in chilly Buffalo. The Sabres currently play in the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have been around since 1927, so they’ve amassed quite a fanbase over the years. Throughout the team’s long history, the Rangers have made the playoffs 59 times with four Stanley Cup championships.

The New York Rangers narrowly missed the playoffs for the 2021 season, but the team’s hoping for a big comeback this season. Like the Knicks, the New York Rangers host visiting teams at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

New York Islanders

The Islanders are another popular option for hockey fans in the New York area. After two straight years of losing in the Conference Finals to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Islanders are out for revenge this season.

Since an incredible four-year Stanley Cup run from 1979 to 1983, the New York Islanders have gone without a championship win. The Islanders are adjusting to a new home stadium with a 2021-2022 season debut of the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

new york jets

New York Jets

Although they don’t play in New York, the Jets have their fans in the area. The crowning moment for the Jets was perhaps the team’s major upset in Super Bowl III, a 16-7 win over the Baltimore Colts.

Unfortunately, the team hasn’t returned to the big game since then. The Jets are hoping to turn things around in the near future with head coach Robert Saleh and QB Zach Wilson leading the team.

new york giants

New York Giants

Like the Jets, the Giants currently play at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. However, the team is still popular throughout the New York area.

While the Giants have seen success throughout the team’s existence, the Super Bowl runs with QB Eli Manning at the helm are definitely the biggest highlights. Super Bowl XLII, when the Giants took down the then-undefeated New England Patriots, remains a major sports moment.

New York Sports Betting History

New York sports bettors had to wait quite some time to have access to mobile sportsbooks. There had been numerous attempts at passing NY sports betting bills since 2018 (coinciding with the Supreme Court overturning PASPA), although none of them gained any steam. However, Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. pushed for legalizing mobile betting in the state for years, pointing out the major potential revenue that could help to solve the state’s budget issues. In 2021, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed online sports betting into the state budget, giving the green light to legal sports wagering in the state. The wheels really started moving in November of 2021, when two bids from FanDuel Sportsbook and Kambi were accepted by the New York State Gaming Commission. This set up nine mobile sport betting platforms to launch in the state: BetMGM Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, Barstool Sportsbook, Rush Street Interactive, Caesars Sportsbook, WynnBET Sportsbook, Bally Bet Sportsbook, PointsBet Sportsbook, and FanDuel Sportsbook. The tax rate for New York sports betting was set at 51%, easily the highest in the U.S. sports betting industry.

January 8th, 2022 saw the official launch of the New York online sports betting market. Four online sportsbooks went live in the state on that day as anyone of legal wagering age could sign up for Caesars NY, FanDuel NY, Rush Street Interactive NY, and DraftKings NY, with the other approved platforms to follow suit shortly after. On July 8th, 2022, Bally Bet Sportsbook officially launched in the state of New York on the six-month anniversary of legal online betting in the area. With Bally Bet Sportsbook rolled out, all nine of the state’s online sports betting apps are now fully available.

Size of New York Market

The launch of the New York sports betting market was highly anticipated, and for good reason. The Empire State has a total population of approximately 20 million people, making it one of the most populated states in the U.S. Not only that, but there are plenty of sports fans in the area, with professional teams such as the New York Jets, New York Rangers, New York Mets, New York Yankees, New York Knicks, and New York Giants playing in the state. The numbers show just what this giant market was capable of, with a total sports betting handle of $1.6 billion in the first month of legal New York wagering alone. By May of 2022, the New York sports betting handle would eclipse $6 billion.

Future of Online Gambling in New York

With New York rolling out legal online sports betting in 2022, all eyes are on online casino gaming in the state. Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr., who was instrumental in the legalization of the New York sports betting market, has his sights set on online casino gaming. The hope is that, with a big push towards the end of 2022, online casino gaming could be included in the 2023-24 state budget and New York iGaming could become available in 2023. This would allow popular online casino platforms such as BetMGM Casino, DraftKings Casino, FanDuel Casino, and Caesars Casino to expand into the lucrative New York betting industry.

Additionally, the New York tax rate for sports betting operators will be something to watch in the future. All the top names in New York sports betting slowed down on spending since launch, due in part to the massive 51% tax rate. Senator Addabbo Jr. believes that, while these betting operators expanded into the state with the expectation of that number, the rate might change in the future when the next state budget is constructed.
