Wyoming has become one of a few states to legalize online and mobile sports betting in 2021. They will be running solely online sports betting, as there is not a retail sportsbook in the state at the moment. After being passed in 2021, Wyoming is awaiting finalizing regulations and rules to allow operators to begin. Those in Wyoming should expect legal online sports betting around the beginning of the upcoming NFL season.
DraftKings Sportsbook Begins Registration
DraftKings Wyoming will be the first sportsbook to allow pre-registration for the state of Wyoming. This means that you can go sign up for DraftKings right now in Wyoming. The best part is that DraftKings is giving out a $100 free bet to each user that signs up before the sportsbook goes live. This means that if you pre-register with DraftKings, you will be given a single $100 free bet to use when the sportsbook launches. This offer will end with DraftKings is live in the state, and you will not want to miss out on it.

Sports Betting Timeline
2020 – There was a bill close to being passed in 2020, which would have allowed online sports betting. The tax rate was at 16% for HB225, which was higher than the one signed into law in 2021. It was almost passed at a vote of 32-27 but failed to progress.
2021 – HB133 originally failed in March of 2021 before being reconsidered just a few days later. It then passed 32-28. There wasn’t overwhelming favor for the bill in either of the two years, but Governor Gordon signed it into law in April.
Sports Betting Options In Wyoming
Wyoming is going to be one of two states that will only offer online sportsbooks. That means there is not a retail sportsbook open, and casinos have not partnered, nor are they required to. We could see a retail sportsbook, as that has not been outlawed. Mobile and online sports betting mean you can wager on your desktop and your mobile device. You will be able to create an account, deposit/withdraw money, and do everything that you need to do.
We will begin to see sportsbook begin operating in Wyoming soon, but FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM are the big players in the industry who are expected to move in. We could also see others move in, but the market is limited in terms of competition.
DraftKings – Coming from the well-known fantasy industry, DraftKings built out a sportsbook ahead of all the sports betting crazy and became one of the top sportsbooks in the country. Being able to offer both daily fantasy and a sportsbook gives DraftKings a competitive advantage over other sportsbooks outside of FanDuel. Both were also early birds in offering single-game parlays. They also excel in customer service.
FanDuel – FanDuel is a rival of DraftKings, as the two have been early providers in this industry. FanDuel also provides a daily fantasy sports site in addition to their sportsbook and has single-game parlays. They are considered one of the top sportsbooks in the industry. FanDuel has a strong support team and also has plenty of unique promotions running throughout the year, such as odds boosts.
BetMGM – MGM Resorts has had their hand in entertainment for a long time, and BetMGM is the sportsbook from MGM. They also have hotels and casinos around the country. They are projected to operate in Wyoming and have a wonderful online and mobile sportsbook that offers a wide variety of betting options. While BetMGM doesn’t offer fantasy like the other two, they have plenty of player and game props.
Caesars – Caesars has rebranded their own sportsbook with William Hill of late and is trying to crack into the sports betting industry despite having a name most people recognize already. The sportsbook is very similar to the others, with a functional and modern interface that can be used on both mobile and desktop. Caesars has one of the better rewards systems among all sportsbooks with a connection to their entertainment background.
Creating An Account
Most of the sportsbooks have a very similar way of signing up, and there are a few quick requirements that you will need to meet. One will be verifying the location. Sportsbooks will do this automatically by geo-locating the phone or device you are using to create an account. The next is to be 18 years of age or older and be able to provide basic personal information and your social security number. This will allow you to create an account.
Placing A Bet
Before you place a bet, new users will need to deposit money into their account or use one of the free bet bonuses if available. You will then select the odds you want to wager on, whether it is a player prop or a moneyline, and add it to your bet slip. The bet slip is where you have all selected bets chosen before you approve.
You will be able to place multiple bets into your bet slip and then choose whether you want them straight up, as a teaser, or as a parlay. You can enter the amount you wish to wager and confirm.
You will need to verify with each sportsbook what wallet options are available, but most sportsbooks have the same options. For depositing, you can simply use a major credit card, online bank transfers, and PayPal. Withdrawal options will include the same, where you can use PayPal, online bank transfer, or if you want to go old school, you can get mailed a check.
Wyoming Sports Teams To Bet On
Since Wyoming doesn’t have any professional teams, there are teams nearby that have a pretty big following in Wyoming. Given Cheyenne, the state’s capital, is only an hour and a half away from Denver, meaning the Broncos are a big team to root for in the state. Otherwise, there is a good mixture of big market teams.
Denver Broncos – The Denver Broncos have a big following in Wyoming, and they are building a team that could be back in the playoff picture very soon. Once sportsbooks open up, you can find weekly bets on the broncos, player props, game props, parlays, and futures. This is in addition to plenty of NFL wagers.
Denver Nuggets – Much like the Broncos, the Nuggets are the NBA team those in Wyoming will pay attention to. NBA has become immensely popular among the major sports over the last two decades, sitting behind the NFL. You can find game wagers, futures, player props, and team props. The Utah Jazz is also an honorable mention for another rooting interest in Wyoming.
University of Wyoming – Cowboy basketball and football are big in Wyoming, as the University of Wyoming is the biggest school in the state. The legislation did allow in-state betting on the schools, which isn’t always the case for each state. Those in Wyoming will be able to bet on both in-state and out-of-state colleges.
Wyoming Daily Fantasy Sports
Laws and the legalization of daily fantasy sports over the last few years have been a bit confusing. Wyoming hasn’t banned daily fantasy sports at any point, meaning DraftKings and FanDuel have been able to operate within the state. Their daily fantasy sports platform can be accessed right now, while many wait for online sports betting. In the HB133 law, there were words pout in place to authorize daily fantasy sports contests being available to play.
