This Privacy & Cookie Policy applies to Bonus+ (the “Program”), a single rewards program, free-to-join, operated across the websites owned or operated by us or our affiliates that participate in the Program, listed under “Participating Brands” below. It explains what personal data we collect when you register for or use Bonus+ on any Participating Brand, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the laws of the country, state or province where you live. This policy does not override the Bonus+ Terms and Conditions or any rights you have under data protection laws.
The program is operated by Catena Operations Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Catena”). Catena is the Data Controller for all Participating Brands and for all personal data processed through Bonus+, whichever brand you register or log in on. We process your personal data in line with this policy and with applicable data protection laws.
Participating Brands and the Bonus+ Network
Bonus+ is a single rewards program. When you register on any Participating Brand, you create one Bonus+ account that works across all Participating Brands. Your Bonus+ profile and coin balance are shared and kept in sync across the Participating Brands. When you voluntarily enroll or register for a Bonus+ account on any of our Participating Brands, you are establishing a single, network-wide profile and a unified coins balance that operates seamlessly across our entire ecosystem. All Participating Brands are operated by the same Data Controller (Catena), so this sharing is part of providing the program to you and is not a sale of your personal data.
The Participating Brands are: PlayUSA, Bonus.com, Legal Sports Report, Lineups, and any other brand owned by Catena, which may be added from time to time.
All Participating Brands are owned and operated by the same primary entity, Catena. Because this internal synchronization is required, this cross-brand processing does not constitute a “sale” of data or the “sharing” of personal information under the CCPA or other US state privacy laws. We do not sell your loyalty profile information to unlinked third parties for independent commercial use without your explicit consent.
To provide the core functionality of the program, your account profiles are automatically synchronized across all Participating Brands. This centralized processing is structurally necessary to provide the service under this new program.
Who Are We?
Catena Media is a company incorporated under Maltese Law, which is engaged in performance marketing and lead generation online. The headquarter office is located at Quantum Place, Triq ix-Xatt Ta’ Xbiex, GZR 1052, Gzira. Malta, having subsidiaries in other countries.
Catena Operations Limited (“Catena”, “we”, “us”) is the Data Controller for Bonus+: we decide why and how your personal data is processed. For Data Protection purposes you can contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com.
We use service providers (processors and their sub-processors) to help us run Bonus+. They may only use your personal data on our instructions and under written contracts that require confidentiality and security. Children
Bonus+ is only for people aged 21 or over (or the age of majority where you live, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under that age. If we learn that we have, we will delete it and close the account. To report this, contact privacy@catenamedia.com.
Sensitive Data
We do not ask for special categories of personal data (for example health, religion, political views or trade union membership). Some data we may collect is treated as “sensitive” under certain US state laws: your account log-in details, and precise geolocation (only if you enable it). We use this data only to provide Bonus+, verify your identity, and keep your account secure, among others. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you.
When Do We Process Your Data?
We collect data when you voluntarily register, each time you earn or redeem coins on any Participating Brand, when you interact with our websites, emails and pop-ups, when you contact customer support, and when verification is required, among others.
For What Purposes We Process Your Personal Data
We use your personal data for the purposes below:
Account registration and verification: to create and manage your single Bonus+ account (username, email, state). We may ask for further details to verify your account where applicable. Legal basis: performance of a contract; legal obligation and legitimate interests for age checks.
Running Bonus+: creating and maintaining one account and shared coins balance, across all Participating Brands, crediting coins, consolidating your coin balance across brands, processing redemptions and delivering rewards, running tiers, challenges, competitions and surveys, and verifying that coins are earned and used correctly, among others. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
Fraud and abuse prevention: monitoring account activity across Participating Brands to detect fraud, duplicate or fake accounts, bots and misuse of coins or rewards. Where we find abuse, we may suspend accounts or cancel coins as set out in the Bonus+ Terms and Conditions. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Marketing: with your consent, sending you newsletters and promotional communications from the Participating Brands (see “Direct Marketing”). You can also unsubscribe whenever you want from your profile settings. We may use technology similar to cookies to see whether you opened an email or clicked a link. Legal basis: consent.
Customer support and communications: answering your questions, complaints and requests about your account or coins, and sending you service or transactional messages (e.g., changes to your coin balance, the T&Cs or this policy). We also analyse support data to improve the service. Legal basis: performance of a contract; legitimate interests.
Legal: to establish, exercise or defend legal claims and to comply with legal obligations. Legal basis: legitimate interests; legal obligation.
Personalisation and profiling: we may analyse your activity across Participating Brands (content viewed, tasks completed, coins earned and rewards redeemed) to personalise content, rewards, challenges and communications for you. Data you give when completing tasks may be linked to your cookie data for this purpose. This profiling does not produce legal or similarly significant effects for you. You can object at any time in your profile settings or by emailing privacy@catenamedia.com. US residents can also opt out of profiling and targeted advertising (see “Additional Rights for US Residents”). Legal basis: legitimate interests; consent where profiling relies on cookies.
Cookies: with your consent, we use data from cookies and from your interaction with our emails (e.g., opens and clicks) to personalise the content and timing of the emails we send you. Legal basis: consent.
Technical: understanding, diagnosing and fixing issues with Bonus+ and the Participating Brand websites. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Analytics and program improvement: measuring how Bonus+ performs across brands, mostly using aggregated or de-identified data. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
Transfer of Catena rewards program accounts: moving and merging members’ profiles, history, and coin balances into the Bonus+ program. Legal basis: legitimate interests, with a 30-day right to object.
Who Do We Share Your Personal Data With?
We do not sell your personal data for money. We share it only as described below. We work with third parties who help us deliver Bonus+. These providers act on our behalf under appropriate contractual, organisational and technical safeguards and may need access to your personal data. They include:
- mailing application providers, plugin providers and hosts;
- marketing automation platforms such as Customer.io, which we use to trigger communications based on behavioral data;
- form and lead capture providers (e.g., ConvertFlow), which we use to collect your details when you sign up for newsletters or offers. These platforms act on our behalf and transmit your data securely to our internal systems and marketing automation tools;
- other service providers (e.g., cloud services providers, hosting providers, authentication providers, etc.);
- analytics, advertising and cookie providers (e.g., Google, Meta), some of whom also use personal data for their own purposes as independent controllers. We only use these providers with your consent (see the Cookie Policy section). Under some US state laws, this may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising”, which you can opt out of. Questions: privacy@catenamedia.com.
Participating Brands of the Bonus+ network: your Bonus+ profile, coin balance and transaction-level data (e.g., earning and redemption history, site identifiers, timestamps) are available across the Participating Brands. We use this to, among others, run the program, consolidate and verify coins, analyse how the program is used, provide customer support, run competitions and surveys, and prevent fraud and misuse. Your data stays with Catena as the single Data Controller.
Reward partners: if you redeem coins for a reward supplied by a third party (e.g., a gift card or partner offer), we share only what is needed to deliver that reward (e.g., your name, email and reward code). We will tell you who the partner is before you confirm. Please note that you may need to read and accept the privacy policy of such third parties, for such redemption activity.
Competitions: where the law requires, we may publish, or provide on request, the names and state or province of winners. By accepting the prize the winner acknowledges that where required by law or the official rules, Catena may publish username and state of residence of the winner. At the end of the applicable period, we securely delete or irreversibly de-identify this data, unless longer retention is necessary to handle an ongoing complaint or dispute, respond to a regulatory enquiry, comply with a legal hold, or meet a legal obligation (such as tax or accounting record-keeping). In those cases, we retain only the data relevant to that purpose, and only for as long as that purpose requires.
We work with many third parties to help manage our business and deliver services. From time to time, these third parties may require access to your personal data:
- mailing application providers, which process personal data on our behalf as data processors;
- plugin providers and hosts, which process personal data on our behalf as data processors;
- marketing automation platforms such as Customer.io, which we use to trigger communications based on behavioral data. These platforms act on our behalf and are subject to appropriate contractual safeguards;
- form and lead capture providers (e.g., OptinMonster), which we use to collect your details when you sign up for newsletters or offers. These platforms act on our behalf and transmit your data securely to our internal systems and marketing automation tools;
- chatbot platforms and providers, which process personal data on our behalf as data processors;
- other service providers (e.g., cloud services providers, hosting providers, authentication providers, etc.), which process personal data on our behalf as data processors;
- analytics, tracking, and cookies (and similar technologies) service providers, who also process personal data for their own purposes as Data Controllers. Should you require more information on how we use cookies please contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com;
- advertising partners (e.g., ad networks such as third-party ad servers, ad agencies, ad technology suppliers and research firms, affiliate links partners) who also process personal data for their own purposes as Data Controllers. These are identified through our cookie consent management platform. Please read their privacy policies to find out how they collect and process your personal data;
- third-party applications or social media services, which also process personal data for their own purposes as Data Controllers. These may be integrated with the site in various ways (for example, we may integrate social media messaging or chatbots on our site, use social media accounts or groups that allow you to interact with us and the site, or send you various communications in other ways, which will involve us collecting some of your personal data, or the social media provider or third-party application receiving some of your information);
- our subsidiaries in the Catena Media Group, located inside or outside the EU/EEA, for internal administrative and marketing purposes. Personal data transfers will be subject to Catena Media intra-group data transfer agreements, on the basis of our legitimate interest and your consent when transferred to another Catena Media Group subsidiary for its own marketing purposes;
- law enforcement and data protection authorities, if we are under a duty to disclose to and comply with a legal obligation or protect our interests or security;
- if we sell, buy or reorganise any business or assets of Catena, or if our assets are acquired by a third party, including prospective buyers or sellers. Any buyer will be required to honour this policy for data collected under it.
International Transfers
Catena is based in Malta (EU). We and our providers process your data in the EU, the US and other countries. When we transfer data outside the EU/EEA, we use an approved safeguard: an adequacy decision, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for certified US recipients, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Should you require some clarifications kindly contact privacy@catenamedia.com.
Direct Marketing
With your consent, we send you marketing about Bonus+, rewards and products and services offered by the Catena group and its advertising partners. By subscribing to marketing communications through Bonus+, you agree to receive promotional material from this website and from the following Catena brands: PlayUSA, Bonus.com, Lineups, and any other brands Catena owns, and which Catena may decide to enrol in the program. When you sign up, and at any time in your profile, you can choose which of these brands may contact you or you can also unsubscribe.
If you have subscribed, we may use marketing automation platforms (e.g., Customer.io) to create behavioural segments and send automated campaigns based on your interactions with Participating Brand websites, emails and Bonus+ activity.
We may also use tracking technologies (such as tracking pixels) in our marketing emails to determine whether emails are opened, or links are clicked. This helps us personalize follow-up content, improve relevance, and measure engagement. This tracking is only used if you have provided consent.
We send electronic marketing based on your consent and preferences. With your consent, we may use third parties to help us process your data for marketing.
You can unsubscribe at any time: use the link in any marketing email, or manage your preferences in your Bonus+ profile, where you can unsubscribe from all brands or from individual Participating Brands. We process opt-outs within 10 business days. Unsubscribing from marketing does not close your Bonus+ account, and we will still send you service or transactional messages (e.g., about your account, coins or changes to this policy), where required for the provision of services.
We take steps to limit direct marketing to a reasonable and proportionate level and to send you communications that we believe may be of interest or relevance to you, based on the information you had provided us.
From time to time, Catena Media may restructure or consolidate its websites, services or communication channels across its brands. If this involves moving a newsletter subscription or account from one brand to another, we will tell you in advance and give you the chance to object or opt out. We do this based on our legitimate interest in service continuity and consistent, relevant content.
Merger of Previous Rewards Programs
If you were an existing rewards program account holder, on any other Participating Brands, your profile, preferences and coin balance may have been or will be transferred to the Bonus+ unified rewards program, so you can keep your benefits. We do this based on our legitimate interest in simplifying our rewards programs. You have the right to object by contacting us via our email privacy@catenamedia.com.
For more information on our use of cookies and tracking technologies, including how to manage your preferences, please refer to our Cookie Policy section or contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com.
Cookie Policy
Why do we use cookies?
We use cookies on Bonus+ and the Participating Brand websites to keep you signed in across the network, remember your preferences, provide the full range of functions, make the sites more convenient to use and deliver relevant content.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device to help websites function efficiently and provide a better user experience. This means the website can remember your preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display settings) and actions over a period of time, so you don’t have to enter them again whenever you return to the site or move from one page to another.
We use first-party cookies, which our websites place directly on your device, including a shared log-in cookie that keeps you signed in to Bonus+ across Participating Brands (strictly necessary). We also use third-party cookies, which a third party (such as an analytics provider) places on your device. The providers are listed below.
Apart from strictly necessary cookies, we only set cookies with your consent. You give consent through the cookie banner on each Participating Brand, separately from registration, and you can change your choices at any time through “Cookie settings” [link]. Optional cookies are off until you accept them.
If you live in California or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal data and of targeted advertising using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Your Privacy Choices” link, or by emailing privacy@catenamedia.com.
In general, you can view our website without cookies, however disabling cookies may affect site functionality.
What categories of cookies do we use?
Strictly necessary cookies: Unless you have set your browser to reject cookies, these cookies are automatically placed on your computer or device when you access the website or a certain function. We use these cookies because they are strictly necessary for the website and its functions to operate properly.
Functionality cookies: These cookies improve your experience by allowing a website to remember choices you have made in the past, like what language you prefer, login status, or how you filter or sort content.
Analytic cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with our site by collecting usage data, such as pages visited, time spent, and bounce rates. The data is aggregated and may include pseudonymous identifiers (e.g., truncated IP addresses or user session tokens) to support anonymised analytics.
Marketing and profiling cookies: These cookies track your online activity to help advertisers deliver more relevant advertising or to limit how many times you see an ad. These cookies can share that information with other organizations or advertisers. These are persistent cookies and almost always of third-party provenance. These cookies are only set with your consent and you can withdraw it at any time in Cookie settings. Help us personalise marketing content, track engagement, and deliver targeted advertisements. They may involve profiling, such as creating behavioural segments based on your browsing activity or email interactions to trigger personalised communications.
Third-party cookies: Other organizations or websites, for example Web analytics tools, store and use “Third-party cookies”. External providers may also use cookies to show advertising or to integrate social networking content, such as social plugins. Please see below in this cookie policy for more information on Web analytics tools and reach measurement. We may also use lead capture tools, such as ConvertFlow, which may place cookies or similar technologies to support registration flows and optimize the experience of pop-ups or embedded sign-up forms. These cookies may store identifiers that help us associate form submissions with user sessions, but are only active where consent has been provided.
What cookie providers do we use?
We use the third-party cookie providers below only with the consent you give through our cookie banner. Some collect data directly from your browser, and their own privacy policies govern that processing. To ask questions or withdraw consent, use Cookie settings or write to privacy@catenamedia.com.
Google Analytics (Google): A Web analytics service from Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies to identify how frequently certain areas of our website are used and to identify preferences and transmits this information about your use of this website (including your truncated IP address) to a Google server in the United States and stores it there. Google will use this data to analyze your use of the website, create reports on website activity for us, and carry out further services regarding website and Internet usage. Google may also send this information to third parties where required by law or to the extent third parties process these data on behalf of Google. Data is transferred to the US under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Facebook Pixel (Facebook): This Cookie is placed by Facebook. It allows our website to measure, optimize and build audiences for Facebook advertising campaigns by tracking users’ interactions with our site after viewing or clicking on a Facebook ad.
Customer.io (Customer.io): This Cookie is placed by Customer.io. It allows us to personalize our emails and messages based on how users interact with our website and previous communications.
ConvertFlow (ConvertFlow): These Cookies are placed by ConvertFlow. They help us display relevant messages or forms based on your site behavior and remember what you have interacted with.
Nexus, linkengine.io (Catena Media): This Cookie is placed by our internal tool LinkEngine.io. It tracks which affiliate links are clicked so we can monitor performance and make sure links are working correctly.
Double Click (Double Click): Double Click is used for advertisers and to advertise on multiple ad servers.
Cloudflare (Cloudflare): Cloudflare cookies are used on the website to apply security settings on a per-client basis.
Please note that we may add or remove these cookies, but will inform you via this policy. If you have any question about these cookies please contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com.
Which Are the Rights You Have?
Your rights depend on where you live. Because we are established in the EU, the GDPR rights below apply to all Bonus+ members. US residents have additional rights under state law.
To exercise your rights, email privacy@catenamedia.com. We will verify your identity, usually by matching your account email, before acting. We respond to your request within one month.
Right to access
You can ask us to:
- confirm whether we are processing your personal data;
- give you a copy of that data;
- provide you with other information on your personal data, for example, what data we have, what we use it for, who we disclose it to, whether we transfer it outside the EU/EEA and how we protect it, how long we keep it for, what rights you have, how you can make a complaint, where we got your data from, and whether we have carried out any Automated Decision Making or Profiling, to the extent that information has not already been provided to you in this Policy.
Right to correct
You can ask us to rectify or correct inaccurate personal data. We may seek to verify the accuracy of the data before rectifying it.
Right to erase
You can ask us to erase your personal data but only where:
- it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected; or
- you have withdrawn your consent (where processing was based on consent); or
- following a successful right to object (see “Right to object” below); or
- it has been processed unlawfully; or
- to comply with a legal obligation.
We are not required to comply with your request to erase your personal data if the processing of your personal data is necessary:
- for compliance with a legal obligation; or
- for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
Deleting your data and your Bonus+ account: if you ask us to delete your data, we will need to close your Bonus+ account on all Participating Brands, and any unredeemed coins will be lost. We will tell you this before we act and give you the chance to redeem your coins first. We will have up to 10 days to process the deletion. We may keep minimal records (e.g., completed redemptions or a log of your request) where the law requires or allows.
Right to restrict
You can ask us to restrict (i.e., keep but not use) your personal data but only where:
- its accuracy is contested, to allow us to verify its accuracy; or
- the processing is unlawful but you do not want it to be erased; or
- it is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected but we still need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or
- you have exercised the right to object, and verification of overriding grounds is pending.
Portability
You can ask us to provide your personal data to you in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format or you can ask to have it “ported” directly to another Data Controller, but in each case, only where:
- the processing is based on your consent or on the performance of a contract with you; and
- the processing is carried out by automated means.
Right to object
You can object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interests, including profiling and the transfer of existing rewards program accounts, if you believe your rights and freedoms outweigh our interests. We will stop unless:
- We have an opportunity to demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate interests that override your rights and freedoms.
We’d appreciate the chance to resolve any concern first, through privacy@catenamedia.com or the complaints procedure in the Bonus+ Terms and Conditions. You also have the right to complain to your lead supervisory authority.
Right to non-discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Some Bonus+ benefits depend on your data, though: for example, coins cannot be kept without an account. See the “Notice of Financial Incentive”.
The right to withdraw your consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time through your profile settings, Cookie settings, the unsubscribe link, or by emailing privacy@catenamedia.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.
The right not to be subject to solely automated decision-making, including profiling
Where applicable you have the right not to agree with the profiling where it produces legal effects (like financial or lending, employment, housing or insurance, or healthcare decision) or significantly affects you. In this regard the user will have the right to object and request human intervention, and will be able to challenge such decision. Should you have any questions in this regard, kindly contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com. We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. A person reviews any fraud flag before an account is suspended or coins are cancelled.
How Long Do We Keep Your Data?
We will retain your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes listed in this Policy.
In some circumstances, we keep your personal data for a certain period of time in order to meet legal, tax or accounting requirements for example. Otherwise, we keep it for as long as we have a contractual obligation with you (e.g., if you are a registered user).
We use your data for marketing until you withdraw consent. Where your personal data is no longer required, we will ensure that it is either securely deleted or made anonymous.
We keep records of your consents, opt-outs and objections for as long as needed to show we respected them, even after other data is deleted.
Should you have any questions over this matter you can contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com.
Data Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, such as encryption in transit, access controls and hashed passwords. Please keep your password confidential. If a security breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law. Questions: privacy@catenamedia.com.
Additional Rights for US Residents
If you are a resident of California, you have additional rights under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA. If you live in California or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the following rights, subject to state-law exceptions:
- Right to know / access: the categories and specific pieces of personal data we hold about you, its sources, why we use it and who we disclose it to.
- Right to delete, right to correct inaccurate data, and right to data portability.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data, targeted advertising, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we only use it for permitted purposes).
- Right to appeal: if we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision within 45 days. We will respond within the time required by your state law (usually 45 to 60 days). If we deny your appeal, you can contact your state Attorney General.
Categories of personal data: Identifiers; customer records; commercial information (coins, rewards); internet and network activity; geolocation; account log-in; inferences.
California “Shine the Light”: we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing without your consent. For more information you can contact us at privacy@catenamedia.com.
We do not sell personal data for money, and we do not sell or share the data of anyone we know is under 21. Sharing your Bonus+ profile between Participating Brands is not a sale, because all of them are operated by the same Data Controller. However, cookies and pixels from advertising partners (e.g., Meta, Google) may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws.
You can opt out through the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information / Your Privacy Choices” link, or by emailing privacy@catenamedia.com.
Notice of Financial Incentive (Bonus+)
Bonus+ is a free to join single rewards program. It is a “financial incentive” under California law and a “bona fide loyalty program” under other state laws.
We may offer rewards, discounts, coupons, or other promotions to customers who sign up for our program. This program may require you to provide personal information, such as, but not limited to, your name, email address, phone number, or shopping preferences.
To opt in: You can join these programs by using the link/section in the corresponding website.
To opt out: You can withdraw your consent and leave the program at any time in your own profile or by sending an email to Customer Support at the support email address shown on the Site you are using. If you opt out, you will no longer receive the associated rewards or discounts.
Value of your data: The financial incentives offered to you are reasonably related to the value of your personal information. We estimate the value of your data by considering the expenses we incur to collect, maintain, and provide the program, balanced against the average generation of supplementary revenue resulting from our marketing efforts.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, and the “Updated” date at the top will show when. If we make material changes, we will notify you. Where the law requires, we will ask for your consent, and you can choose whether to continue in Bonus+. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information. Your continued use of our services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
