The Beard has had an interesting NBA career to say the least. After a couple of successful seasons at Arizona State where he averaged 19 points per game, Harden was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the third overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. At the time, the Thunder had Russell Westbrook and Thabo Sefolosha starting in the backcourt, so Harden was relegated to a bench role. He quickly became one of the premier Sixth Men in the NBA, culminating with 16.8 points per game off the bench in the 2011-12 season in which he helped OKC reach the NBA Finals. His stats weren't spectacular, but Rockets' GM Daryl Morey saw star potential in him. In 2012, Harden was traded to the Houston Rockets for a collection of role players and draft picks after he and the Thunder were unable to come to terms on an extension. This will go down as one of the worst trades in NBA history as Harden would quickly become the league's best shooting guard and the best player in the Rocket's lineup. Harden was the scoring champ in 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20, putting up 30+ points per game in each year. He was named to the All-NBA first team every year during that stretch and won the MVP award in the 2017-18 season. He's one of the best scorers in NBA history.
