The 2026 BMW Championship has reached its halfway point, with Bellerive Country Club expectedly playing like a softer, more scorable version of what we saw 8 years ago at the 2018 PGA Championship.

After a log-jammed opening round, we have started to see some separation, as Wyndham Clark leads the way at 12-under-par. Gary Woodland, JJ Spaun, Chris Gotterup, and Sungjae Im are the nearest chasers, each within three strokes of Clark’s lead.

Looking ahead, we have new data at our disposal to adjust our approach in DFS formats before Round 3 gets underway on Saturday. Conditions were wet from overnight rain on Thursday, but the course will continue to get firmer as the week goes on. Ahead, we’ll look to identify the players who have shown they are most due for a Round 3 breakout.

Take a look at some of the best pillar players for the 2026 BMW Championship DFS contests and live betting opportunities.

DraftKings Showdown Golf Strategy

DraftKings Golf Showdown Golf is a one-round Daily Fantasy format in which players aim to construct the best-scoring one-round lineup while staying within the allotted salary cap. To identify value in Golf Showdown, it’s typically best to focus on buy-low opportunities on players who’ve shown uncharacteristically poor putting in the prior round. There is also an opportunity to find leverage by identifying favorable weather splits and players who are more likely to card birdies-or-better.

Round 3 BMW Championship Showdown Pillar Plays

As expected, ball-striking form and sheer distance have prevailed thus far at Bellerive Country Club. Unlike last week at TPC Southwind, distance is a huge asset here, especially for elite Total Drivers who can consistently pull short-iron approaches from the fairway into these receptive greens. Likewise, it is the most skilled approach players who stand the best opportunity to generate birdie opportunities here. Looking ahead, it is going to take a combination of driving distance, elite iron play, and a streaky putter to go low at Bellerive Country Club.

Identifying value players who check each of these boxes can provide valuable bonus points in the DraftKings Showdown format. The three players below will be foundational plays in my Round 3 Showdown lineups for these reasons.

Rory McIlroy ($10,400)

It was not the best second round for McIlroy, but he made the most out of his B-game, remaining in this tournament after a second-round 69. McIlroy now stands T8 at 7-under-par, and is just five strokes off of Wyndham Clark’s lead.

On paper, Bellerive is an ideal course fit for McIlroy. It rewards sheer distance off the tee and high-lofted approaches into soft, receptive greens. The softer the better for Rory too, who has historically held an edge on wet golf courses that prioritize carry distance of the tee. He’s reaped those benefits thus far, as McIlroy ranks 1st in Driving Distance, 6th in SG: OTT, and 11th in SG: T2G. The putter has looked strong too, which was his greatest concern last we saw him in Memphis. If he continues to build confidence on the greens, he’s in great position to make a charge over the weekend.

Russell Henley ($8,600)

Elite approach play from the fairway is the clearest recipe for scoring at Bellerive Country Club, and while Henley may lack the optimal distance to attack here, he has still positioned himself perfectly to find scoring opportunities thus far. Henley is T8 at 7-under-par at the turn of this tournament, a credit to his top-10 ranks in SG: Ball Striking, SG: T2G, and SG: APP.

Henley is known as a wedge specialist, but he’s also held his own well on longer venues. He was a winner at Bay Hill last season, and has been excellent on major venues that demand elite ball-striking in recent years, with top-10 finishes in four of his last six major starts. A T9 finisher at The Open three starts ago, Henley’s form is in a great place heading into the weekend.

Ryo Hisatsune ($6,200)

I’m laser-focused on building my DraftKings lineups around the players who are in the best overall approach form, regardless if they are long or short off the tee. Distance is advantageous, but it hasn’t stopped accuracy specialists like Sungjae Im and JJ Spaun from climbing up the leaderboard. Looking a bit further down the leaderboard, Hisatsune is a great value option capable of making a charge on Saturday.

Hisatsune ranks 5th in SG: APP through the first two rounds, and currently sits T16 on the leaderboard at 5-under-par. The putter is finally cooperating for him too after a months–long lull, as he ranks 14th in SG: Putting too. Hisatsune is an accuracy specialist, and has proven he can hold his own well on longer courses; he finished a season-best T2 at Torrey Pines earlier this season. If the approach and putting form remain sharp, Hisatsune is fully capable of making a big run on moving day.

Live Bets To Consider Entering Round 3

Round 2 Matchup: Tommy Fleetwood over Sam Burns

Best Available odds: -115

Something has not quite been right with Sam Burns’ driver since his long hiatus post-Open Championship. He cited those driver woes as his biggest obstacle to overcome after his disappointing final round at the FedEx St Jude Championship, and it has not gotten much better in St Louis. Burns ranks 42nd in SG: OTT through the first two rounds, and has relied on his elite putting to maintain his current position of T30.

Fleetwood has not been much better at Bellerive, but he has proven to be the more reliable ball-strikers, and is capable of scoring at this venue in a variety of ways. On a current streak of seven consecutive top-15 finishes, I expect Fleetwood to start righting the ship soon.

Top 10 Finisher: Michael Thorbjornsen

Best Available odds: -120

I continue to be impressed by the state of Michael Thorbjornsen’s game, and his overall fit for Bellerive Country Club. Thorbjornsen has rebounded well from the illness that plagued him in Memphis last week. He is currently T6 at 8-under-par, leaning on the strengths of his driving (1st) and ball-striking (3rd). He has plenty of motivation to finish strong as a Presidents Cup bubble player, and may force captain Snedeker’s hand if he continues to play at this level.

Best of luck with your BMW Championship DFS lineups and bets!
