A Look At The Draw
Men’s Quarter 1
Alexander Zverev holds down the No. 1 seed and top spot in Quarter 1 with the withdrawals of both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. He will get the winner of Dino Prizmic vs. Cam Norrie, but should be able to reach the Round of 16 and beyond with the bottom of Quarter 1 also favoring the German. Tommy Paul and Valentin Vacherot are the top names under Zverev’s section, with the former as a much bigger threat to Zverev but currently not playing in top form.
Hubert Hurkacz is the name to watch in this part of the draw, always a threat to knock out anyone if his serve is clicking, especially on the hard court surfaces. Flavio Cobolli as the No. 7 seed holds down the bottom of Quarter 1 with a date against the winner of Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Miomir Kecmanovic. While Cobolli will be the favorite to reach the Round of 16 here, the No. 12 seed Rafael Jodar will be the favorite to win that hypothetical encounter and reach the quarterfinals.
Jodar has been playing a lot of tennis, while also in a section of the draw where a dark horse like Alejandro Tabilo or Denis Shapovalov could catch him off guard. However, Jodar is playing past his clay-court form and is tough to pick against. He is also young enough where stamina isn’t as large of a concern as it might be for other players. All signs are pointing to a Zverev-Jodar encounter for the quarter, and while this section is littered with names that could knock either out, it still makes sense to wager around the idea those two meet.
Quarter 1 Pick: Rafael Jodar +1000
Quarter 1 Sleeper: Tommy Paul +4000
Quarter 1 Longshot: Flavio Cobolli +5000
Men’s Quarter 2
The G.O.A.T. is in Quarter 2, Novak Djokovic, entering as the No. 3 seed and put in a part of the bracket he can absolutely win. With that said, Thiago Agustin Tirante has been quietly playing decent tennis on the hard courts recently. While the Hall of Fame player is the obvious look here, be mindful of the underdogs when single match betting on Novak – they might be a nice look.
Jack Draper is also in this part of the section, but has seen many withdrawals and a tough loss in his last match when he did actually play. Jakub Mensik at No. 14 is the only real threat to Novak on paper, as No. 19 seed Luciano Darderi – albeit playing much better on hard courts – is still not on the elite level of form he is on clay when playing on hard courts.
The bottom of Quarter 2 sees No. 5 seed Alex De Minaur, who is a solid pick to actually win the entire quarter. His basement section of Quarter 2 is relatively easy, while the upstairs is a bit more chaotic with Matteo Berrettini, Jiri Lehecka and the biggest threat to Novak in Arthur Fils. De Minaur becomes a great look because the top section is such a gauntlet. With that said, if Fils reaches the Round of 16 then he should be the take over Demon and possibly Joker.
Quarter 2 Pick: Novak Djokovic +600
Quarter 2 Sleeper: Arthur Fils +2500
Quarter 2 Longshot: Alex De Minaur +3000
Men’s Quarter 3
Taylor Fritz is the top name in Quarter 3, entering Mason as the No. 6 seed but could have an immediate threat with Alex Michelsen as his possible Round 2 opponent. Under Fritz, things remain interesting with Daniel Merida vs. Marin Cili, and the winner facing Zizou Bergs who enters as the No. 30 seed. Things get even more interesting underneath with Joao Fonseca, Casper Ruud and Kamil Majchrzak all lie. Majchrzak has cooled off a bit while Ruud seems to only be interested in clay court matches, so Fonseca becomes our top choice here to reach the Round of 16.
Who he faces? Probably Fritz, but be mindful of the Merida vs. Cilic winner as both players are solid on hard courts – but more recently Merida who saw a wonderful run in Montreal and has won nine of 11 main draw matches. The section underneath all of this is held down by No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev, but it’s No. 27 seed Brandon Nakashima who has been lights out this ‘Hard Court Swing’. He becomes the top choice here, while above him lies No. 13 seed Andrey Rublev and No. 20 seed Francisco Cerundolo.
Rublev has the simple path when comparing the two, as Cerundolo might have to face Nuno Borges who is currently playing dangerous tennis. Still, Rublev should be the favorite against either/or but it’s Nakashima who, surprisingly, brings the best value in this part of the draw.
Quarter 3 Pick: Taylor Fritz +900
Quarter 3 Sleeper: Joao Fonseca +3000
Quarter 3 Longshot: Brandon Nakashima +4000
Men’s Quarter 4
The final quarter sees Felix Auger Aliassime at the very bottom as the No. 2 seed, likely to face Stefanos Tsitsipas in a tough Round 2 encounter. Let’s also not forget FAA just withdrew from a tournament, so he might be avoidable this week. However, above him is only Arthur Rinderkench and Juan Manuel Cerundolo, so if FAA is healthy than he should reach the Round of 16 barring a Sitty upset in Round 2. The American duo of Frances Tiafoe and Learner Tien are above FAA as the No. 16 and No. 17 seeds, respectively.
Both have no reason not to face each other in Round 3, but from there is a coin flip on who will win. The odds will likely favor Tien, who is coming off a solid run in Montreal, but which might also hurt his fatigue entering Cincinnati. This section is difficult to decipher with FAA’s unknown injury status and a potentially sleepy Tien. Above this section lies Ben Shelton, the No. 8 seed and also going deep in Montreal (in fact, facing Tien on Wednesday). Shelton is a tough one to nail down, as his record in 1000 level events or higher has been dreadful in 2026 but is coming off a huge run in Montreal.
Could it just be a Canadian love affair Shelton has after winning Toronto last season? Time will tell, but the draw he has warrants conviction in a Round of 16 appearance as Ignacio Buse, Adam Walton and Jenson Brooksby should be no real concern. However, the names to watch are underneath in No. 24 seed Ugo Humbert and No. 10 seed Lorenzo Musetti. Both are capable of winning the quarter and getting past a fatigue-laced Shelton.
Quarter 4 Pick: Ben Shelton +550
Quarter 4 Sleeper: Lorenzo Musetti +2500
Quarter 4 Longshot: Ugo Humbert +20000
Women’s Quarter 1
Aryna Sabalenka gets the No. 1 seed in Cincinnati despite playing anything but it, as there might only be a handful of weeks left before she relinquishes her top dog status to Elena Rybakina. Make no mistake, this is a massive stretch of the season for Sabalenka but things won’t get easier in Ohio as No. 16 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova is her counterpart in the section. Other noteworthy names Sabalenka will have to get past just to reach the quarterfinals includes Donna Vekic, Sara Bejlek and Barbora Krejcikova. While Sabalenka, on paper, should progress past those names keep in mind she just lost to Alexandrova in Canada.
The bottom section of Quarter 1 also sees big threats to Sabalenka making a run which include No. 11 seed Naomi Osaka, No. 20 seed Madison Keys, No. 30 seed Leylah Fernandez and No. 8 seed Elina Svitolina. Good luck chuck. This is a gauntlet. Sabalenka’s section is notably easier than the bottom path of Quarter 1, as Osaka is now coming off deep runs in back-to-back tournaments while both Fernandez and Svitolina are playing some of their best tennis post-Wimbledon.
While Sabalenka has been struggling, the path on paper favors her too much to go against, while the bottom section is a nightmare to navigate through. In theory, Sabalenka should be able to take advance of this top section path along with getting whatever leftovers come out of the bottom. However, her form has been tough to consider so feel free to shop around this quarter but if Sabalenka doesn’t produce here then it’s safe to say Rybakina will take her throne.
Quarter 1 Pick: Aryna Sabalenka +220
Quarter 1 Sleeper: Elina Svitolina +3000
Quarter 1 Longshot: Barbora Krejcikova +6500
Women’s Quarter 2
Coco Gauff gets the top spot in Quarter 2, entering as the No. 4 seed and given a solid draw pending the Yulia Putintseva vs. Liudmila Samsonova result. While Gauff will be the favorite regardless who wins, Samsung is playing the best tennis of her season right now and would be someone to circle as a potential dark horse in this part of the draw. No. 28 seed Ann Li is also in this section, but has yet to show the same level of form she showed on clay this season since Roland Garros ended.
Under Coco’s section lie a few sleepers as well, notably No. 13 seed Iva Jovic and No. 22 seed Marie Bouzkova. Both are capable of going on deep runs, especially on the hard court surface. The bottom section of Quarter 2 sees No. 5 seed Mirra Andreeva in a very favorable part of the draw, getting the winner of Elvina Kalieva and Oleksandra Oliynykova. Viktorija Golubic, Alycia Parks and Janice Tjen lie above, so Andreeva has no excuse not to reach the Round of 16.However, she has looked shaky since winning her first career Grand Slam while both Golubic and Oliynykova have been playing quietly decent tennis over the last few weeks.
Let’s not forget Kalieva’s run in Memphis as well. Above them is the name to watch, No. 10 seed Marta Kostyuk who has yet to skip a beat in her form this season. Her draw isn’t easy with Sofia Kenin, Anastasia Potapova and a somewhat resurgent Sloane Stephens to get through. Of the names, Gauff’s path seems the easiest while Kostyuk is the main threat to the rest of the quarter’s field. Also keep in mind Gauff is playing deep in Canada, still there as of this writing – so fatigue could be a factor.
Quarter 2 Pick: Coco Gauff +650
Quarter 2 Sleeper: Marta Kostyuk +2000
Quarter 2 Longshot: Iva Jovic +5000
Women’s Quarter 3
Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova holds down the top spot in Quarter 3 as the No. 6 seed, getting the winner of the Katies – Volynets vs. Boulter. Katie Boulter has struggled since starting the season on fire, while Katie Volynets is unlikely to match form with Noskova. No. 27 seed Clara Tauson has been rather inconsistent this season, but showing signs of life lately does indeed pose a legit early threat to Noskova making a run. Under this section though are the big bad wolves in Alexandra Eala and Amanda Anisimova.
While Anisimova has been dealing with injuries this season, she is starting to get back in rhythm. However, it’s too little too late in terms of picking her to win as she needs more matches and tournaments under her belt to regain our confidence of playing an entire week and a half at an elite level. It’s coming, though, but seems premature to expect it in Cincinnati. Eala, on the other hand, is flying through the Hard Court Swing with multiple high-level wins. All this said, in their section lies dark horses in Gabriela Ruse, Magda Linette, Daria Kasatkina and Zeynep Sonmez.
While all four are currently playing at a higher level form than what we’ve seen in recent months (or years) – Eala, Noskova and Tauson are too overwhelming to go against. And if Anisimova begins clicking, then look out. Also, we haven’t even touched the bottom of Quarter 3 where No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula looms with a crop of contenders such as No. 25 seed Emma Navarro, No. 18 seed Anna Kalinskaya and No. 15 seed Sorana Cirstea. Good luck picking that as all four are great picks.
Poor Jess and Anna can’t escape each other, three straight tournaments they find themselves in the same section of a draw. This section, however, seems eerily similar to the one above in that there are many players with a first round bye currently displaying good enough form to go with. But also, the players with first round matches do pose a small threat to the players with byes. Caty McNally, McCartney Kessler, Nikola Bartunkova and Petra Marcinko all have first round matches in this section. Attacking this quarter after Round 2 isn’t a bad idea with literally eight more possible contenders here. Noskova does have the easiest path, however.
Quarter 3 Pick: Jessica Pegula +1200
Quarter 3 Sleeper: Linda Noskova +2800
Quarter 3 Longshot: Alexandra Eala +8000
Women’s Quarter 4
Fish gets the No. 2 seed and the very bottom of the bracket in Quarter 4, possibly her last event as the No. 2 seed pending Toronto results along with how Sabalenka does in Mason. For Rybakina, the winds can go in either direction but she seems back to normal. How long it will last is always a mystery and possibly the only true downfall in her game at the moment. We can’t measure that with data, though, so the assumption she is mentally clear should hold higher conviction than not. Her path is simple as well, although there is a possible dramatic meeting with No. 26 seed Jelena Ostapenko in Round 3.
Diana Shnaider is a true dark horse in this section, and a name that could take Rybakina out should the two meet in the Round of 16. Both Rybakina and Shanider have great paths to take advantage of, with Shnaider’s top threats being Maja Chwalinska, Panna Udvardy and Tatjana Maria – while Dayana Yastremska returns after a long time away from the court. Above this section lies No. 7 seed Iga Swiatek who faces the winner of Venus Williams and a qualifer.
Iga has a great path to take advantage of as well, especially as her form seems to be climbing in Toronto at the moment. Getting to the Round of 16 should be okay for Iga fans to wrap their head around, as No. 29 seed Maria Sakkari is the only real hurdle in that regard. However, No. 12 seed Belinda Bencic lies below as the top name to take Iga out before the quarterfinals but just withdrew from Toronto’s quarterfinal match with an injury. No. 21 seed Elise Mertens is next gal up, but we’ll take Swiatek in that hypothetical encounter.
All in all, Swiatek has a great path to the Round of 16, and pending Bencic’s injury status, further. Underneath, Shnaider and Rybakina should face each other for a spot in the quarterfinals. Picking between those two will come down to two questions you’ll have to answer. First, how tired will Elena be entering Cincinnati after a deep run in Toronto? Second, if she elects to play, will her determination to become No. 1 in the world give her the adrenaline needed to get past any fatigue concerns?
Quarter 4 Pick: Elena Rybakina +650
Quarter 4 Sleeper: Iga Swiatek +800
Quarter 4 Longshot: Diana Shnaider +6500
