2026 Wyndham Championship Odds: Four Longshots & PGA Tour Golf DFS Picks

The PGA Tour has reached its final stop of the regular season, and the stakes have never been higher. A strong field heads to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the 2026 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club. They will all be motivated to claim a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs next week, and will jockey for position with valuable FedEx Cup points on the line.

This event has crowned plenty of longshot winners in its history, with Lucas Glover, Jim Herman, and Brandt Snedeker each winning at longer than 75/1 pre-tournament odds. Will we see another surprise longshot winner in Greensboro at the end of this week?

This tournament is one of the most straightforward handicaps on the PGA Tour. It is a plodder’s paradise, routinely rewarding the most accurate players who are skilled enough with their putters to overcome these challenging Donald Ross greens.

We’ll look to dig for some diamonds in the rough in this article ahead of the 2026 Wyndham Championship.

WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP INTRODUCTION

A mainstay on the PGA Tour since 2008, Sedgefield Country Club is your prototypical positional golf course, which rewards players for hitting fairways and penalizes any wayward tee shots with thick rough and tricky angles from tight tree lines.

With a heavy concentration of par-4s under 450 yards, players who are dialed in with their wedges and short irons have repeatedly found success at this event. Moreover, the most skilled long-term putters have proven to separate from the field on these tricky Donald Ross greens.

With angular, more narrow fairways than Tour average and tricky Bermuda rough, there is a large emphasis on keeping the ball in the fairway. That has drastically mitigated any advantage from longer hitters, with forced layups throughout. Sedgefield CC has routinely ranked top 10 in scoring difficulty from outside the fairway. Plodders who can remain in control of their ball off the tee should have a leg up on the field.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA Tour, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At Sedgefield Country Club, Recent Form, SG: APP, and Course History are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a golf DFS picks perspective, I will take a stance primarily on the importance of Comp Course History, Driving Accuracy, and putting skill. Recent form as only gone so far in predicting success at this event. Look no further than last year’s winner, Cameron Young, who bounced back from a missed cut in his latest start before the 2025 Wyndham Championship and went on to win at 50/1 pre-tournament odds. The formula is simple at Sedgefield CC, and it is routinely the most accurate players who are in control of their irons and putting who rise to the top.

Ryo Hisatsune

The Presidents Cup looms just one month away, and Ryo Hisatsune is on an inside track towards gaining his first career appearance for the International Team. It’s hard to believe the 2023 DP World Tour standout is younger than Michael Thorbjornsen, but at 23 years old, Hisatsune could very well continue the youth movement we’ve seen over the last couple of weeks.

Hisatsune was a winner on the DP World Tour in 2023, but is still chasing his first career PGA Tour win. One of the closest calls of his career came right here in 2024, where Hisatsune finished T3 in his Wyndham Championship debut. He’s been fantastic on short, positional courses all season, finishing top-15 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, The Players Championship, and the John Deere Classic. Ranking top-25 in Driving Accuracy, SG: Ball Striking (<7,200-yard courses), and Prox: 100-150, Hisatsune is a strong fit for Sedgefield CC.

Michael Kim

In the final week of the PGA Tour regular season, this is typically not the time a player is going to suddenly find his game. Fortunately for Michael Kim, he found his two weeks ago, and now comes to Greensboro as one of the hottest players in this field. Kim has finished T10 and T8 in his last two starts at the 3M Open and Rocket Classic, leaning on his accurate ball striking and hot putter throughout this heater. That is the formula needed once more at Sedgefield CC, which rewards the best putters year-over-year, so this sets up to be a great spot for Kim to keep the pedal down heading into the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Kim’s history at the Wyndham Championship leaves plenty to be desired, but he flashed his potential here with a T5 finish in 2023. Profiling below Tour average in driving distance, Sedgefield CC presents a rare opportunity for Kim to not be disadvantaged by his lack of distance. He’ll look to claim his second career PGA Tour win this week, with his first coming on a similar short, positional venue at TPC Deere Run.

Emiliano Grillo

Like Michael Kim, Grillo has saved his best golf for last, finishing top-30 in each of his last five starts. That includes a strong T7 showing at the 3M Open just two weeks ago. It may be too little, too late for Grillo, however, as he’ll need a top-10 finish for a chance to climb inside the top-70 of the FedEx Cup standings. With the way he’s playing now, however, I don’t think that’s out of the question. Grillo’s turnaround is directly a credit to his improved putting, as he’s gained on the greens in each of his last five starts. That is a highly encouraging sign leading into the Wyndham Championship, where putting is of premium importance.

Like Ryo Hisatsune, Grillo’s strong recent play has also put himself on a short list of International Team hopefuls for the upcoming Presidents Cup team. I believe he’s already done enough to earn a spot on the team with slim pickings around him, but he’ll most definitely be motivated to make it an easy choice for captain Ogilvy. The 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge winner has long thrived on short, positional venues that place a premium on accuracy. He ranks 5th in SG: TOT over the last 16 rounds, and top-20 in terms of both Driving Accuracy and SG: Ball Striking.

Davis Chatfield

Long shots are very viable at the tournament Jim Herman won just six years ago. A premium on accuracy and complete disregard for distance can absolutely open up the playing field for a specialist like Davis Chatfield. A standout on the Korn Ferry Tour last season, Chatfield was a late bloomer acclimating to PGA Tour competition in his rookie season. He seems to be settling in now, however, as he’s finished top-35 in four of his last five statts, including two top-16 finishes over that span.

Chatfield is elite in three areas, and they happen to be the three areas that matter most at Sedgefield Country Club: Driving Accuracy (12th), SG: Approach (25th), and SG: Putting (10th). We have seen accurate plodders like Kevin Kisner, JT Poston, and Tom Kim channel those same three areas of their game to win this event, so don’t be surprised if Chatfield is the next longshot approach marksman to pop at Sedgefield CC.
