Giants-Rams DFS Picks: Best Value Plays, NFL Week 2

Week 2 of the NFL season wraps up on Monday Night Football with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the New York Giants in both teams’ second straight primetime appearance. The Rams were embarrassed in their season opener in Australia last Thursday, while the Giants pulled off an upset over division rival Dallas on Sunday evening.

👑 Matthew Stafford, LAR/QB/MVP ($15,000)

The reigning league MVP had a season opener to forget last Thursday against the 49ers — 155 passing yards, no TDs, and 1 INT in a 27-7 defeat in Australia. The Super Bowl 61 favorites return home looking to get their first win of the season against an exciting young Giants squad.

New York’s secondary held up well against the Pickens-Lamb duo in the opener, holding Prescott to 175 passing yards and 2 TDs with 1 INT. Even so, with nearly two full weeks to process their season opener, expect a much more polished performance from McVay’s offense on Monday night. With their season effectively 0-1 already, the Rams will come out aggressive, and Stafford should bounce back.

Davante Adams, LAR/WR ($8,800)

A big reason for Stafford’s quiet Week 1 was the inability to get Davante Adams involved — just 3 receptions on 6 targets for 26 yards. Expect a more deliberate effort to get the veteran WR going on Monday, particularly if the questionable Puka Nacua can’t play with a hip injury. With WR3 Jordan Whittington also doubtful, the target share would funnel even further toward Adams.

He remains one of the league’s premier red-zone threats, coming off a season in which he led the NFL with 12 red-zone TDs and saw 16 targets inside the 5-yard line. The Rams generated few red-zone opportunities in Week 1, but Adams is clearly Stafford’s first option near the goal line. The two veterans should find their rhythm on Monday night.

Isaiah Likely, NYG/TE ($7,400)

Likely was nothing short of impressive in his Giants debut on Sunday evening — 8 receptions for 78 yards and 2 TDs, the overall TE1 in fantasy last week. Reports from training camp suggested he and second-year QB Jaxson Dart had quickly developed chemistry, and a high-volume Week 1 performance confirmed it. His 8 targets ranked second on the team, and Likely figures to be a major piece of this offense going forward.

The athletic TE ran 91.6% of his routes from a WR alignment rather than on the line of scrimmage, giving him consistent matchup advantages over LBs and nickel CBs. Dart recognized this early, with Likely commanding a 31.8% first-read share and leading the team with four red-zone targets. With this game projecting toward the higher end of the scoring range, expect Likely to be heavily involved again.

Blake Corum, LAR/RB ($4,600)

Corum was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing Rams opener in Australia. The third-year back led Los Angeles with 54 rushing yards on 10 carries, outperforming starting RB Kyren Williams despite one fewer carry. He is still available at a reasonable price due to his depth-chart position, but his efficiency on limited touches makes him an ideal low-risk, high-reward play for Monday night.

Corum played 23% of the Rams’ snaps in the opener, and nearly split carries evenly with Williams. Los Angeles defaulted to Williams in their three red-zone trips, where he scored the team’s only TD, though that was not always the case last season. The more physical Corum could see goal-line work again this week, and his 5.4 YPC in the opener gives him real value at this price.

Malik Nabers, NYG/WR ($9,000)

The only Giant with more targets than Likely in Week 1 was star WR Malik Nabers. The sixth overall pick last season made his highly anticipated return from a season-ending knee injury and immediately showed his connection with Dart. Nabers hauled in 6 of 9 targets for 69 yards in his first game back and should keep improving as he gets more reps under his belt.

The LSU product has big-play ability but also showed throughout his rookie year that he can function as a high-volume possession receiver. He averaged a target every 2.7 routes in the opener, and the Giants have already indicated they want to increase his 69.7% route participation as the season goes on. As significant underdogs in a high-scoring game, Dart will need Nabers to be a focal point of the offense.

Harrison Mevis, LAR/K ($5,000)

Mevis was barely needed in the season opener, making his lone extra-point attempt in the loss. With the Rams expected to perform much better at home, he should see significantly more action on Monday night. If some of Los Angeles’ offensive weapons are limited, the Rams may lean on FG attempts to stay in drives, and Mevis’ track record suggests those will put points on the board.

The former UFL kicker has made 92.3% of his FG attempts to begin his NFL career and remains perfect on extra points. Mevis will benefit from kicking indoors at SoFi Stadium and has never missed a kick in the regular season or postseason at home.
