The MLB Playoffs roll on Thursday with a day-night two-game slate that gets started at 1:00 p.m. ET. While the Rays and Guardians will be snapping a 1-1 series deadlock as the series shifts to Progressive Field in Cleveland, the Dodgers will be looking to avert an ugly four-game sweep at the hands of the Brewers that would serve as quite the abrupt end to their three-peat dreams.

Best MLB Championship Series Player Props

  • Jose Ramirez Over 0.5 Singles
  • Yandy Diaz Over 0.5 Singles
  • Tyler Glasnow Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Jose Ramirez (Guardians vs. Rays) Over Singles

Ramirez has put a slow start to the postseason firmly behind him, recording multiple hits in three of the last five games while clubbing a double, a triple and a couple of homers in that span. Ramirez has hit safely in all five contests as well, and he’s accumulated five singles out of nine total hits in playoff games this fall.

Ramirez is back home Thursday for a favorable starting pitching matchup against Griffin Jax. While the switch-hitting Ramirez has hit better against left-handers, he’s typically given Jax a hard time over 18 previous encounters by hitting .294 against him with only three strikeouts. However, Jax managed to limit the damage by allowing just one of the five hits Ramirez has produced in that span to go for extra bases.

That’s fairly typical for the Rays’ right-hander, who’s surrendered just a 39.2% hard-hit rate per Statcast and generated an elevated 46.0% groundball rate this past regular season. Ramirez hit a solid .260 at home during the regular season as well while recording a single on 39 of his 59 hits in the sample, and given how well he’s been seeing the ball, this is a reasonable Over to take.

Yandy Diaz (Rays at Guardians) Over Singles

Targeting Guardians starter Gavin Williams with the Over for an opposing bat is admittedly the road less traveled in a betting sense, but there’s a case to be made for Diaz on Thursday. The veteran slugger is an excellent contact hitter who’s much less prone to succumb to Williams’ elite swing-and-miss stuff. That’s actually been proven out over time, as Diaz has struck out just a single time in 15 career encounters with Williams.

Additionally, he’s made good use of the consistent contact he’s managed against the fireballing right-hander, recording seven hits, including three doubles. Despite the trio of extra-base hits, Diaz is still a prolific singles hitter overall, having recorded a career-high 131 during this past regular season.

Diaz also hit an impressive .288 against right-handers on the road during the regular season, recording singles on 52 of his 66 hits in the sample. To top it off, Diaz has a solid track record against several Guardians relievers, upping his chances to rap out at least one hit.

Tyler Glasnow (Dodgers vs. Brewers) Over Strikeouts

It’s all up to Glasnow to salvage the Dodgers’ season, as the talented left-hander will take the ball for Los Angeles in Game 4. Glasnow had some control issues but was otherwise effective in his one postseason start to date, as he held the Braves to one earned run on one hit over 4.2 innings while recording five strikeouts, albeit while also issuing five walks.

He now faces a Brewers squad whose current hitters he’s thoroughly dominated in the past, holding them to a collective .118 average and tiny .333 OPS while ringing up 40 strikeouts across 99 career plate appearances. Glasnow didn’t face Milwaukee during this past regular season, but he posted an 0.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP alongside a 9.0 K/9 across 11 innings over two 2025 starts versus the Brew Crew.

Glasnow recorded at least six strikeouts in all but one of his 13 starts during the regular season, and he boasts an 11.4 K/9 across 71.2 career postseason innings. With everything on the line for Los Angeles, I look for Glasnow to be especially locked in while pitching on a full seven days’ rest.
