Score Prediction: Rays 4, Guardians 2
The Pick: Rays 4, Guardians 2
We’ll take the Under based on head-to-head data, while Tampa Bay winning outright is also supported by the same data.
Game Betting Analysis
As it was for Game 2, the data between these two clubs heavily weighs in the corner of the Under – despite missing Game 1. The Under has now hit in eight of 10 meetings between both clubs, along with a remarkable 11 of 12 games for Cleveland when facing Tampa Bay as the favorite. Cleveland is the favorite at home for Game 3, winning six straight games outright when playing at night and coming off a loss. However, the data is all over Tampa Bay, as it hit in Game 2 but missed in Game 1. The Rays have won four of five meetings with Cleveland including six of the last eight. Games 1 and 2 saw Tampa Bay as the favorite, though, as the favorite has covered the run line in four of six meetings. With that – the candle burns on both ends so we will stick to the total but Tampa Bay’s outright odds are intriguing for those who don’t mind the data supporting a favorite run line cover.

Deciding Factor: Gavin Williams’ Full Rest vs. Tampa Bay’s Bullpen Depth
Cleveland sends Gavin Williams to the mound Thursday on his first full turn of rest all postseason, three extra days removed from the 12-strikeout gem he threw in ALDS Game 5, a sharp contrast to a Guardians staff that had to piece together innings with only three true starters against the White Sox. Tampa Bay, by comparison, is expected to lean on Nick Martinez — closer to rotation depth than a true top-end arm — in his first true road start of the series, after Cleveland’s bats got going late in Game 1, scoring seven times over the final four innings to erase a 2-0 deficit behind homers from Chase DeLauter and Patrick Bailey. Jose Ramírez, who posted a 1.187 OPS across the ALDS before his costly Game 2 throwing error opened the door for three unearned Tampa Bay runs, remains the engine of that lineup, and a cleaner night from him at third paired with Williams on the freshest arm of the series gives Cleveland its clearest path back in front.
Tampa Bay, meanwhile, counters with the deeper and healthier pitching staff of the two, having leaned on all five starters behind a fully rested bullpen through a three-game ALDS sweep of the Yankees, while Cleveland now needs at least four relief arms to survive a four-games-in-five-days stretch that begins in earnest Thursday. Freddy Peralta’s six shutout innings in Tuesday’s win were a reminder of how dangerous that rotation still is even with Martinez pitching down the order, and an AL-best 164 stolen bases give the Rays a game-changing weapon on the bases against a Guardians staff already running thin. If Patrick Bailey can control the running game the way he did a league-high 19 times during the regular season, Williams’ extra rest and Cleveland’s rediscovered bats should be enough to push the Guardians back in front.
